A stunning view. Central to town and beaches but quiet and relaxing. Great layout for the 5 of us.

We recently stayed at Dan's house for five days; we were a group of six. The property itself was great, with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and plenty of space to move around. I saw some reviews saying that you need a 4x4 to get there. We rented a Toyota Rush with a small engine, six people, with six carry-on bags and backpacks, and we were able to get in and out of the house. We want to give a shout-out to the caretakers who live onsite. One of the A.C. units broke down, so I called Harry, the property manager, and he sent out a Tech. Within 20 minutes, he was there to fix it. Well done! We will stay at Casa Irie next time we visit SJDS.

Nice stay Beautiful place and landscape Beautiful pool Space in the house. Well-equipped kitchen. Construction noise in front of the construction of a house. People live in the basement, those who take care of the house. However, we heard them but they did not do any maintenance. Noisier due to construction and the accommodation is not completely private due to the tenant living downstairs with their child. Nice stay, but less relaxing than expected. The house is superb and the views are too.

This is a beautiful house and the view is exactly as pictured! We spent three weeks here and had an amazing time spending each day in the pool and evenings watching sunset. Dan has great recommendations, communication, and a guest discount to his catamaran tour which is tons of fun. We were three people working remotely and occasionally faced problems with power outages, often multiple times per week and day. If you are working remotely I would recommend flexibility and/or also having a local sim/ external data connection to avoid issues. However, I will mention that these issues are not unique to Dan's place and can be expected at any location in San Juan del Sur. The house attendants are readily available for anything you might need, however we sometimes faced miscommunication issues in regards to cleanings and laundry. I would highly recommend Dan's place for a relaxing vacation and remote work, you cannot beat the pool and view!

The location is beautiful but outside of the main town. You absolutely need a 4X4 vehicle. If you don’t have a 4X4 you will need to use a taxi. Search online for taxis - the cost is $10 per ride. Most are trustworthy if they are from a service. We enjoyed the pool and outdoor area of the home.
Host Response
Hey Massiel, thanks for the feedback. Needing a 4x4 to get to the house used to be the case back in the day for the first few years when we built the house and the road wasn't paved. But now with the road being paved with interlock right up to our house, we've had several guests that get up to the house with ease these days with a normal car, including just regular car taxis from town. Please feel free to drop me a message if you would like to chat further about it. Cheers, Dan

Our stay was an absolute dream. The house is beautiful, spacious, and has everything you need. Waking up, having your coffee, and going for a swim with the view was an experience in itself; it’s so peaceful and feels so private being surrounded by nature. The neighborhood felt extremely safe and we had rented a car, so it was an easy 10 minute drive to town if you wanted to go for dinner or socials. The owners and property caretakers were very helpful and sweet as well. This house provides the perfect Nicaragua getaway for a group of friends or family 🤍 highly recommend x

The place and view were incredible. Perfect getaway in the mountains and still close enough to the center. Dan was great and Raul, the house attendant, was very welcoming and attentive. Would highly recommend!!

Hands down my favorite Airbnb I ever stayed in. The infinity pool was top notch. Big pools aren’t super common in Nicaragua, so to have a pool of this side right off all 3 bedrooms was amazing. The view of the bay was great too! The live in caretakers were so sweet and there to help if you needed anything. All my friends want to come to SJDS after seeing my pics!

AMAZING VIEW, BETTER HOST - MONTH LONG STAY The pictures don't do it justice. We sat every night to watch the sun sink into the ocean, even after a month it never got old. The house has an amazing outdoor living space and pool area. Perfect for relaxing, reading, or working form home outside under the shade. Dan was an amazing host, he and Harry responded to any problems we had in the house right away. As we were 3 girls working from home we ran into a few hiccups but they did everything in their power to fix it every time as fast as they could. All the beds were super comfortable, the showers we awesome and even had hot water (rare for Nicaragua). We also wanted to give a special shout out Clara and Rahul, they are the caretakers of the property and live on site. They were so accommodating, respectful, and helpful. While they live on the property they respected our stay, checking in at regular intervals to make sure everything was ok. If we needed anything they were there right away. Rahul monitored the property, we felt really safe with him there. I have never stayed in an airbnb with caretakers and wasn't sure what to expect, and they blew my expectations out of the water. We will miss them! Wifi and Nicaragua - for all those looking to work from home in Nicaragua. The wifi in the entire country is unreliable, we had it go out around 5 times while we were staying for a month. This is normal, but there is an easy solution (that Dan helped us with). If you buy a sim card for $1, you can get 15BG of data for 2 weeks for $6. I'd recommend this as its easy to tether any computer or device to, and eliminates headaches. Fun things about the house + Dan: - Dan's sailing company Salt Nica has catamaran tours, and we'd HIGHLY recommend them to get to see the area + meet new people - Hire a driver: instead of renting a car, we had a driver (Alex) arranged by Dan who brought us into town every night for dinner etc. he was amazing, and we learned a lot about Nicaragua from him - The salt water pool: unparalleled, huge... its amazing - La Lancha is the cheapest best seafood on the beach in SJDS - recommend :)

We fully recommend Casa Irie. It is a beautiful home complete with everything you will need. Breathtaking view unlike anything you’ve seen before. If you are looking for a place to stay while in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, look no further than this place.
