Our stay was exactly what we were looking for to truly experience Costa Rica. The drive off the main road up the mountain takes about 30 minutes, so make sure you're stocked up on everything you need before heading up — but we genuinely enjoyed that drive every single day. It's such a beautiful route that locals actually drive up just to park and take in the view. On our second night, a transformer blew on the country's power lines, and Esteban stayed on top of it, checking in to make sure the electric company completed the repair. I also mentioned that the battery backup for the wifi didn't last very long during the outage, and he let us know they were addressing it ASAP. Worth noting: there's no cell service up there, so wifi calling is a must for staying in touch. But honestly, that's part of what makes this place special — it's a true chance to disconnect from everything and reconnect with the mountains and the home itself. Esteban and this house are fantastic.

The beehive was a very unique and pretty experience! With that said, due to the Royal jungle nature of the beehive, we did experience a quite a few power outages. Also, since you’ll be living in the jungle, expect there to be bugs in the household, even still, Esteban was very friendly and responsive to our issues and helped resolve them as soon as possible. He also gave us a refund for the issues that we encountered. It’s a great place for a large group looking for adventure. Just keep in mind, that the drive getting there is hard and on bad terrain, and it might be hard to get back-and-forth to experiences. But overall, it was a unique and exciting experience.

This place is beautiful and peaceful!! Esteban was very wonderful at communicating. The house had everything that we needed. The road to the place was not as rough as we thought it would be. Such a wonderful experience.

It was such a unique and wonderful stay in a truly magical place. Plus, Esteban was a fantastic host.....communicating before, throughout, and after to make sure we were all set and happy. He takes a lot of care to make it special.....from the amenities, to property, to setting you up for the stay. And while its not the easiest Airbnb to find/get to, he made sure to make it as easy as possible with directions, signs posted, and his great communication. It's about an hour away from Fortuna, which was perfect for us. We spent our days exploring Fortuna adventures, then felt totally and uniquely in our world before and after. The house architecture was so amazing, playful, and creative. The reading nooks were fantastic. Plus, because it was so peaceful, it ended up being our best night sleeps as well. Family of 5, with 3 kids. Loved it all. Highly recommend.

We greatly enjoyed our stay. It's a small challenge to get there, but it's totally worth it. The house is really beautiful and very special and the view is phenomenal. We'll definitely be back!

It was raining heavily when we arrived. The host contacted me through the online camera to solve the problem of entering the house. I strongly recommend not to arrive when it's dark, you should familiarize yourself with the road conditions during the day. The house is very good, our family was very happy inside. It's hygienic and clean, there are welcome fruits and red wine, not bad👍

The Beehive is one of the best locations we have ever stayed! Absolutely love the location, the house, the property, and of course the amazing hosts!

The property is charming. I've been using Airbnb for years and it was definitely the best property I've ever been to. The house is amazing and big. Everything is new and we got the place very clean and tidy. We took advantage of the secluded place for lovely walks. It is important to say that the way to the place is not easy, especially if you do it at night (and in the rain), so you need patience and drive slowly. Bottom line - highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time staying in The BeeHive! Although it is quite remote and a bit of a challenge to get there, It was quite a treat staying in the jungle and enjoying all the modern amenities, like WiFi, TV, lovely creature comforts like cotton sheets and down pillows and even a nice bottle of wine and some fresh fruit waiting for us when we arrived! All the extra touches really made our stay ‘extra’ special. We had the place to ourselves but you could easily accommodate at least eight adults if you wanted to. The view and the atmosphere of the area is amazing and if you’re looking for peace and tranquility, this is your place to come. It’s a very special spot and experience. The house is a beehive for people. Beautiful, original and very practical. A luxury in the middle of the rainforest. Very close to the children's eternal forest, which is a must in the area. When you then pass by the fortune and see what's there, you appreciate being staying in this house. A 10

Really neat place that’s as special as the photos make it look. Esteban communicated well. Had trouble with the gate and heard him giving instructions via the camera/speaker. Only two bits of caution - OSHA would not approve of some of the eye and head-level corners those hexagons create 😅 and the road up is no joke. It was at the absolute limit of what my 2wd rental could scale. You smash through some vines and drive through a small creek which adds to the adventure. Worth it, though.

Our stay at this house was simply spectacular. The design is beautiful, very eye-catching, yet incredibly practical. Everything is thoughtfully arranged to make you feel comfortable and at home from the very beginning. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bathrooms are spacious and functional, and the beds are truly comfortable, ensuring a restful sleep. Another highlight is the location: in a peaceful, nature-filled setting, away from the tourist crowds but still close enough to all the main attractions in the area. Exactly what we were looking for. What surprised us most was the sense of serenity the house offers. It’s not just a place to stay—it’s an experience in itself. That’s why we recommend that anyone visiting not only use it as a base to explore the area but also take time to enjoy the house itself: the peace, the natural surroundings, and the special moments shared with loved ones. Another plus is the host, Esteban, who took great care of us.

The house itself was so unique and clean. Looked exactly like the pictures. And the host was very responsive. We actually had to call because we couldn’t find it in the dark and he answered right away and helped us find our way. The only negative was the road getting there. We stayed here for 3 nights and got a flat tire the second day. The roads are VERY rough and it takes 30 minutes to get from the main road to the house because of how bad it was. If you are wanting to stay in the house it is perfect. If you are trying to go back and forth into town it is more work than it is worth. We actually decided once we left for the day we weren’t coming back and leaving again because it was such a stressful drive. We were driving a Rav 4. That being sad, our teenagers said it was the coolest house they’ve ever stayed in and they loved the reading nooks.

Can’t recommend enough! Great place in an area that is quiet and peaceful. Very responsive host, too!
