Did you see a painting by Henri Rousseau? It's like being inside one of them. It's a wonderful jungle, and the house is beautiful and comfortable. Two kilometers away is the beach, and you can get everything at neighboring supermarkets. Access requires a high vehicle but is easily walkable.

Gideon's place is a beautifully peaceful escape from city life. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, look no further.

Nice place to detach from the world. We had some minor issues with the bed sheets and blankets. The access requires a 4x4. Gideon was available and followed up our needs, via message and phone. However the local support was not that efficient. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Great place to read and meditate.

We really enjoyed the privacy and jungle atmosphere and saw toucans, sloths and howler monkeys from the comfortable porch. The house itself is really comfortable and the bathroom are modern with plenty of hot, hot water. There are ceiling fans in each room, but we didn't really need the as it was perfect temperature at night for sleeping. The house itself is beautifully crafted in wood. It was a pleasure to stay in Gideon's house. Once you got used to it he drive up and down was pretty quick and easy, so no downsides about the location.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 5 days. The place is great. An abundance of wildlife. We saw toucans, sloths, and a variety of monkey's. Gideon was very helpful, and checking in and out was very easy. I would highly recommend this property.

Very nice and unique house set in the middle of the jungle. You get to listen to the howler monkeys and birds every morning. About a 10-15 min drive to the closest beach (4x4 needed). Both Gideon and Ulises who helps Gideon with the guests were really helpful and attentive. The only issue we had was with the house's cleanlinesss since we found dirty bathrooms and kitchen plates. Besides that we had a great stay.

Interesting location set in the jungle as described but the downside is the steep 50-60 meter long driveway which you must walk as it's too slippery to drive and if carrying anything more that a backpack then it's quite difficult. You will also need a 4WD vehicle as the 2.5km road in is very rough and the last section impossible without the 4WD. But the house itself is impressive and was well maintained and all amenities including ample fresh water. The jungle setting is great with the sounds of the jungle enjoyed from the vast balcony and hammock. It's a large house with huge bedrooms. For something different it's quite unique and well worth it but just keep in mind the need for a 4WD and the long steep and slippery walk down to the house as the elderly may struggle or if you're toting suitcases as we were. Caretaker Ulisses was a nice guy and very helpful.

This house is truly magical! If you're looking for a real ''jungle experience'' this is the place! We spent 6 wonderful days looking at monkeys, toucans, frogs, parrots and many other critters from the porch. But being so close to nature means nature will invite itself in, at any time of day or night. Gideon was very good at communicating, giving directions and translating when needed. He made sure we were ok and all settled in. No need to rent a 4x4 to get there, just AWD with a bit of clearance will do the job. We absolutely loved it.

First, the house is beautiful. It has an enviable location and environment. It was probably a gem when it was built. We find it in a regular state. Some travel tips: 1- Consider that the entrance can be complicated upon departure, in this case a 4x4 it is best to go up with speed and not forcefully. 2- During our stay we did not have internet. We recommend bringing contingency plan, ice-KOLBI has an acceptable signal on site. If required, you can go eat an ice cream in Alice, Playa Chiquita, an excellent and quiet place (key: tacotaco). 3- Perhaps the most important: Once you enter the stone road, don't turn off until you reach the CROSSROADS that says "LOS VAGOS." DO not enter through that street but take the right AT the crossroads. 4- They bring insect repellent. 5- Keep in mind that the water for consumption must be replaced, the owner will not cover it. In this case the best and cheapest thing is to go to some supermarket in Puerto Viejo (Old Harbor) is very convenient. 6- Bring hand soap, dish soap, bath soap, and other cleaning utensils. 7- Do not leave doors open overnight as wildlife can enter. 8- Be careful in laundry room. Always bring a closed shoe to enter the place and check well. During our stay we found a snake inside it.

If I could rate this place purely based on the host and his kindness and quick response time it would definitely be a five. Unfortunately there were a few issues that I feel cannot be overlooked. When we arrived it seemed as if the house was not ready for us at all. In fact it seemed as if no one had been there for months. I contacted Gideon immediately and he remedied most of our problems as quickly as possible! The house is beautiful! The porch is perfect for relaxing and hanging out. If you do not like bugs please do not consider renting this property as it is deep in the jungle and is very open to the environment. We enjoyed the wide variety of beetles and other insects that we spotted while staying here, but bugs are not for everyone, and they do tend to leave behind a mess. Overall this house wasn't as clean and comfortable as I had hoped, and believe me it kills me to say that because I was so looking forward to staying there and seriously Gideon was wonderful through the whole booking and staying process. As far as I can tell, the oversights to readiness and cleanliness were not his fault, but the people he has hired to maintain the place. It is a shame to see such a beautiful location receive less care than it needs and deserves.

My family and I had a great weekend in Gideon's house. We loved the harmony of building the house with nature. Upon arrival the house was clean and well accommodated. Among the comments we read was said about the inconvenience for check-in but for us we talked to Thomas and he sent us a link with the address by waze and we arrived without any problems. I personally recommend it.

We arrived during the night and no lighting was provided to get to this very difficult place for newcomers. Truly the jungle with everything that it means for uninitiated people like me.

Very difficult to find in the dark, but jungle location is lovely & unique and house design is also. Four wheel drive mandatory to get there. Problems: roof leaks over bed/mildew on mattress. Dryer does not work/ can't do laundry. Path to house from parking is extremely muddy. Open lattice allows insects in house. 4 towels for 4 guests not sufficient in moist climate. TV/cable/ Wi-Fi not operable. Written instructions needed. Housekeeping marginal. Would advise future travelers to purchase local cell phone to contact caretaker.

The house is exactly what the description says, a one of a kind luxury jungle house. Breakfast while spotting tucanes, howler monekys, going out of the house and seeing rare frogs, truly spectacular. Though it is a bit out of the main way, it is 30 minutes walking and we did the trip to the beach by bike several times. Best of all is the combination of jungle and beach which this house offers. The house itself os very well equipped, has all you need and is stunning! Gideon was very friendly and responded quickly and Thomas was super helpful ( by even towing us out of the mud- in rainy season 4x4 is essential). Had an amazing month!
