Wonderful week at Toucan Valley with our family of four adults in June 2026. Woke up to howler monkeys every morning, saw amazing birds, and loved the waterfall trails. Great community vibe too, pickleball, food garden, pool, ping pong (about 35 units, so busier in high season). A few notes: 4WD recommended, 25 min off the highway with some steep sections (we visited start of rainy season; Dec-April is easier/more popular). Fully self-contained, no restaurant, so plan 30-35 min to Palmar Norte for groceries. Wifi went out most of our stay (Thu-Mon); Jonathan helped where he could and we used the office wifi nearby. No cell service on property either. House has original 2012 furniture, a bit dated; upstairs king bed was great, downstairs twins could be updated; AC upstairs only. Jonathan and son Clayton were wonderful hosts, very helpful throughout. Recommend for travelers wanting a quiet, natural escape.

Jonathan was very helpful and flexible. The community is very nice. The kids love to be in the pool. I definitely recommend this place.

This was a really nice place, remote (in terms of driving - the recommended 4x4 is definitely needed!) with stunning views and a lovely little house. Large kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, nice lounge; large covered terrace to sit and watch the wildlife passing by. The host was easy to communicate with and very generous with my early check-in request. If you have the right vehicle, check it out!

This is our second stay at Toucan Village. We had 2 bedroom villa this year and enjoyed the extra space. It was well equiped with a great kitchen. It is right down in the rain forest which keeps it nice and cool but a little dark. The village is 2000ft above sea level which keeps it much cooler then being closer to the beach. A 4x4 vehicle is required to handle the hill. There is a great pool and common area to lounge at. There are several great hikes to waterfalls as well as a pool rable ping pong and pickle ball court. The only drawback is it is 30 to 40 minutes to the beaches and towns. That is not a problem if you enjoy swimming, walking and relaxing up on the mountain. It is a great place to be.

We had a pleasant stay in this lost house in the jungle. The photos and description are true to what we found when we arrived. We enjoyed walking to the waterfalls and taking advantage of the pool. Tips: Remember to do the shopping well, otherwise you'll have to go back to Ciutad Cortes 20’drive away. We were coming from Cahuita. We followed Waze's directions. You might as well tell you we got lost on the slopes. It was beautiful but with the night that was a little stressful especially since the network was not capturing. G …. map saved us. Jonathan was always there to answer our every request. Enjoy nature, listen to the monkeys and raise your head because you will really see Pelicans.

Toucan Valley was a very good experience, our family liked it very much. It is in the middle of the mountain, a lot of nature, forest, fauna, there is a trail for very nice waterfalls, etc. but at the same time it is about 30 minutes from the beach if you want to combine. The place is very well maintained, the photos are accurate, comfortable villas, well equipped, there is an orchard, pool, pool table. It is a place to literally “retreat” from the noise of the city. The only consideration that seems important to me is that the path is not very good and because it is mountainy, if you need a 4x4. I thought it wouldn't be necessary so I went in a 4x2 SUV and I almost didn't get it. Our host is always attentive and willing.

This accommodation is really great, very spacious over 2 floors, the kitchen better equipped than my own. The Toucan Valley can be reached via a 7 km gravel road uphill, four-wheel drive necessary. The complex is also great for children, pool, ping pong, billiards, washing machines and dryers, all free of charge. Lots of birds and butterflies. The hit is the garden where fruits and vegetables are grown, guests are allowed to help themselves. Right behind the house a 1.5 km path to a wonderful waterfall and a spectacular tree. And John, the manager is super personable. He had a lot of time for us, showed us everything, gave tips for various excursions and then organized them for us.

Toucan Valley is a beautiful place to stay and watch the mist move through the mountains. Wildlife is abundant and the jungle comes alive at night.
