3BR Cabin in Bijagua de Upala

Matias

Not good, 3 years ago

Byron was a good host, friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful with a beautiful view of the volcano. Unfortunately when we arrived, the cleaning was not done properly. In addition, this house is not suitable for a family with young children. It is not specified in the listing but the house consists of two floors, master bedroom in the upper part and 2 secondary bedrooms below accessible by a small outdoor staircase. The kitchen is very small and lacks equipment. I do not recommend for a family, but very good for a group of young backpakers.

Byron was a great host. He answered all our questions and gave us good recommendations for local guides and hikes. The sunsets on the deck were beautiful. The only things to note: the road to the bungalow is very steep and rocky. You will definitely need 4-wheel drive. And the bed upstairs is very hard so bring something soft to lie on it, if you are older, like me. Overall, I recommend the place highly for rustic simple beauty.

I was so thankful to find this listing. It’s 20 minutes away from the Rio Celeste waterfall inside of the Tenorio Volcano National Park and the Ceiba Tree(500yrs - oldest in Costa Rica). The photos of the view from this property don’t do it justice. The property itself is considered rural and the road leading up to it is not paved so be prepared for the beautiful adventure. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cabin. So peaceful and serene to simply enjoy sunset and sunrise here. Our host Byron was very helpful with communication. Thank you for a great stay.
