El Cardonal is a fabulous area to visit. Small village vibe, whale sightings every day, fishing, paddle boards and kayaks! Andrew’s house was a perfect home to get away!

We had a lovely stay in El Cardonal at Andrew’s place this mid November. It’s the last lot along the beach, which meant beautiful, expansive views. The house itself was very comfortable, loved the decor and traditional feel. Our kids had fun in the pool, even though we didn’t choose to heat it. On the less windy days, we were able to swim just out front and saw tons of colorful fish. I wish that we had less windy days though, it really rips down the coast. We took refuge in the interior courtyard to escape the wind, one of the many neat places to chill on the property! We were lucky to be there during a full super moon and it was incredible watching the moon rise over the water. Our favorite restaurant ended up being La Doña. The other restaurants we tried were just okay. It’s definitely a remote feel, but the town mini markets have everything you need to make basic meals. Bring pesos, otherwise you need to back track to Les Barriles. Overall, we highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Las Ventanas, the house is perfectly well equipped, it is very nice and very comfortable (More than in the photos), everything was very clean, we didn't need anything. Andrew and Samuel's service was impeccable, Samuel was in constant communication and attentive to our needs, too kind. The house is a bit far from the airports, and that was our perfect excuse to enjoy the drive along the coast, we enjoyed the view and even stopped at some beaches. It's in a small town, so there's plenty of privacy (we really enjoyed this). There are good restaurants nearby. We would definitely go back to Casa Las Ventanas.

Our family of four spent 8 November nights at Katy and Andrew’s house in El Cardonal. We loved our time here! Very private/secluded feeling. The house was very well equipped and impeccably cleaned and prepped for our arrival. The instruction booklet with directions and local recommendations was amazing. The house manager Samy was terrific and very responsive. He helped us make a small repair, found local food for us, refilled our water jugs, took care of the pool and grounds, and tried to organize a fishing trip but sadly the weather did not cooperate. Sunny everyday here in November, but also windy! The wall along the pool offered a nice place to lounge out of the wind. Had a great time beachcombing and exploring the area on ATV. We will happily return for another family getaway.

A great place in so many ways. We enjoyed the beach the pool and the restaurants in the small town. We explored the region and came back each evening to a swim or a dip in the ocean.

The location is phenomenal right on the beach with gorgeous sunrise and sunset daily. The house layout is interesting with a meld between the indoor and outdoor. Andrew provides an extensive description of all things house and area related which is very useful and Samuel, the house caretaker, goes above and beyond! He met us at the door, showed us around, helped set up a fishing charter, and checked in frequently. Bummer the pool heater wasn’t working but these things happen. Hope to come back sometime and truly test out the pool!

The location is stunning, right on the water. The house is comfortable and there was plenty of seating on the patio, in the house and in the courtyard. The pool is beautiful, but we were unable to use it because the heater was not working. Heating the pool is an extra charge, which you find out once you book. The location is very private and was a little difficult to find. The local manager met us there, which was very helpful.
Host Response
Thank you Gabriele for staying with us! We do value our privacy and remote location very much, that is the charm of El Cardonal and our house's location at the far end of a beautiful beach! As we discussed before your stay, I am very sorry about the pool heater needing a repair. We needed to get a small 4 ounce part from the US down to the house to fix the problem and our only option to get it there in time for your stay was to send it to you to bring down, which is why I made the request. I do understand it would have been a minor inconvenience but unfortunately without your willingness to bring it down, we could not repair it until we were able to get it shipped directly down to the house. To be fair we did offer you the option to cancel and receive a full refund. We do charge for the actual propane used to heat the pool, as propane is expensive and depending on the guests desired temperature, could cost anywhere from about $25-75 a day. The few houses that do have heated pools in our area do charge as well, but most of them charge a flat fee of $200+ a day. We just meter the propane and charge our guests the actual costs of heating. While we do disclose that heating the pool is an extra charge in our listings, the details and rough estimates of that cost are in the post-booking information we send along. We do our best to maintain the house and fix things as fast as possible when needed. But living on the water with the salt and sand, and the lack of availability of certain items in Baja makes it our reality in Mexico unfortunately that things do wear out more quickly on the beach here, and we need to be creative to get things fixed quickly! Had you been willing to bring the small part down with you, we would have had it fixed the morning after your arrival. Regardless, I'm glad you enjoyed the house otherwise and once again apologize that we did have a temporary pool heating issue that we couldn't fix for your stay. All the best!
