It turned out to be a great choice to stay here before our return flight. The view from the chalet is magnificent. A very scenic area, quite different than being in San Jose city center. You will need a 4x4 to have the most flexibility to explore nearby areas but the access road is maintained and some parts are paved. Marco the concierge met us at a meeting point and he led us to the villa. Easy! The chalet is very well looked after, the kitchen was well provisioned, bedding & linnen were fresh. We used the host guidebook to find recommendations for restaurants & cafes. Thank you Jessica for being a great host.

The place is beautiful, exactly as it looks in the photos. Private, clean. The hosts always responded super quickly and gave us good recommendations on what to do in the area. They were always available in case we needed anything. We loved the heated beds, and the place had everything we needed to cook. We would definitely come back.

Our stay at Unicorn A-Frame was absolutely wonderful. The cabin is stunning, truly unique, and sits right beside a beautiful river, creating such a peaceful and magical atmosphere. Everything was spotless, the beds were incredibly comfortable, the shower had great hot water, and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. You can really tell how much care has gone into every detail. Communication with Travis and Jessica was smooth from start to finish. They were friendly, responsive, and made the entire experience effortless. I highly recommend Unicorn A-Frame and also their other cabins, which I’ve stayed in as well. Every property has been exceptional, and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again. If you’re looking for a memorable and relaxing getaway, this is the place.

Beautiful cabin, very quiet surroundings, quetzal right behind the house (if you're lucky). Great garden with lots of flowers, plants and hummingbirds. Despite the cool weather, the nights were pleasant thanks to the heated bed. We had a great time, thank you so much. By the way, the restaurant Doña Marlen, a 3-minute walk away, offers absolutely great food, and the restaurant's balcony is home to many beautiful hummingbirds.

It is a very beautiful place, just for a weekend or a few days getting to know the area. We will definitely be back.! 10000/10. Jessica and Travis were very accessible and really care that you have all the info to take advantage of the area to the maximum.!

We paid with a discount of almost 40%. For that price, it seems fine to me. At the normal price, it seems expensive for what you get. To go to the trails, you have to pay extra, and there are always people, like police, making sure of that. You can hardly even walk around the property without being charged. Additionally, before you leave, they inform you that if you leave something, they will throw it away and you won't be able to get it back, a rather threatening and uncooperative message.

Thank you for your feedback, Roberto. We’re glad you enjoyed the discounted rate. While value is subjective, guests rate the A-frame five stars for value and appreciate its unique setting. For clarity, guests are never charged to walk around Unicorn Lodging, and no one “polices” our property. The $10 fee applies only to our neighbor’s fruit farm, which offers quetzal viewing, trails, and waterfalls. This optional experience is independently operated and clearly explained in our online guidebook, the guidebook inside the cabin, and the information sent before arrival. We have no control over the neighbor’s fee, though many guests appreciate having this experience next door. We’re sorry our automatic checkout reminder about forgotten belongings felt negative. As a small boutique property with limited storage, it simply reminds guests to take everything with them. We do not immediately discard items when a guest contacts us or returns shortly after checkout. Thank you.

The place is very nice, the surroundings are pleasant, and the views of the river and the forest are beautiful. The cabin was super clean, tidy, the decor was very nice, with thoughtful details and complete information. Something to keep in mind is that it is a bit narrow for 4 people. There is practically no space to put suitcases or to put your clothes. And if you want to cook, there is no dining room inside the house, only a bar with benches on the balcony. With the cold weather, this can be a challenge. Also, to get to the cabin you have to cross a small pedestrian bridge. It's a bit complicated for someone with reduced mobility or with heavy luggage. Otherwise, everything was good.

The A-frame was intentionally designed to provide a cozy, treehouse-style experience while still offering a full-size kitchen—an amenity many cabins in the area do not have. The covered dining bar was placed outside so guests can enjoy coffee, breakfast, and meals above the river while taking in the peaceful surroundings. This is one of the features our guests mention enjoying most. The pedestrian bridge is also part of the cabin’s unique experience, and many guests enjoy taking photos along its charming walkway. However, we understand it may not be ideal for guests with reduced mobility or heavy luggage. We also offer accommodations better suited for easier access or accessibility needs.
