A very good option to consider in the area, especially for the natural surroundings and the jungle experience, located close to the beach at the top of a hill. The sound of animals is constant, and the vegetation is very lush. The cabins are nice and comfortable as long as you accept the place's open approach. Great yoga space for training, very good parking. Friendly service, always ready to help with whatever we needed. There was an issue with the water, which Ariane addressed.

Arianes place is lovely. theres a few casitas on the property but it still felt very private. everything was clean and Ariane was quick to respond if anything was needed. the hammocks and deck area are definitely the highlight of the space. some points of note (and by no means negatives in my opinion but some things for guests to be aware of), if its important to you - the water pressure isn't great and the water gets warm rather than hot but it is (i believe) on a gravity fed system so water still flows during power outages (bonus), the wifi was spotty at times shutting down around 11pm sometimes and early morning, it's at the top of a steep, but short hill so if you dont have a vehicle expect some extra calorie burn, the bug net doesnt close properly on the bed but using elastics or clothes pins to keep it shut worked fine for me (just need to get creative). overall excellent value, great place to stay, I would certainly be back. excellent costa rica vibes

This was such a wonderful place to stay. I loved the open air concept, the bed was extremely comfortable, and relaxing in the hammock on the porch every day was so peaceful listening to the birds and frogs. I would definitely stay at Ariane’s place again. I think it’s important to call out that guest should expect there to be ants, geckos, and harmless small spiders in the bungalow. It is open air and in the jungle so occasionally there will be critters. If you leave them alone, they will go away on their own.

Beautiful accommodation!!! It really is a unique and magical experience! The place looks like a fairy tale and Ari is a super nice person! Super good communication! The wifi is impeccable! I worked a month from there! And Ari was very kind to adjust the time the wifi was on because I had to work from 4 am. The yoga deck is amazing and can be used if it's free! The only thing was that I had to postpone the meetings to 6 am, since from 4 am to 6 am you can't make noise (it's a restriction in Puerto Viejo)! I would definitely come back!! The beach nearby is beautiful, and it's ideal to rent a bike since the supermarket is a 20-minute walk away. But with the bike it's great! I recommend it 100%! The place and the contact with nature is really a dream! I saw animals every day, and the sounds of the environment were amazing! Amazing decor, bathroom and bed!

Ariane is a great host- very responsive and helpful throughout our stay! Overall we had a great, relaxing experience. However, from the listing we thought this was a private and secluded place but you are actually in a little community with a couple other bungalows. Other than that the wildlife is amazing, lots of animals to see and hear! (If you’re a light sleeper bring some earplugs lol) This is a nice spot if you’re into nature and simplicity (:

A very comfortable cabin, nice and quiet, it's fantastic to be able to cook among the trees, at night you can hear the howler monkeys and many other animals, the location is very good, you can walk to the beach, there are many activities to do and very good beaches nearby, you have a soda (Caribbean restaurant) a few meters away, we stayed 6 days and we didn't miss anything, we cooked and we even worked from the cabin (the wifi works very well), Ariane and her husband have been very kind and have been attentive to everything. Totally recommended.

Spent 5 awesome nights here. Ariana scrambled to accommodate our last minute booking - thank you!!! Peaceful quiet setting with a population of resident agoutis which were super cute and fun to watch. Walkable to the beach and restaurants. Great to be accessible to all this stuff but removed from the direct ‘action’ for peace and quiet when you want it. Cabin is basic but as pictured. This is a rustic jungle experience, not a Ritz Carlton so set expectations accordingly. Has everything you need and nothing you don’t. Lack of AC was a non-issue as nighttime temps and the fan made things very comfortable. We did the indigenous cacao tour with Ariane which was a lot of fun plus a handful of on-site Yoga sessions during our stay. Excellent experience overall. Starlink wifi was fast and I saw other guests having regular Zoom calls but I lost adequate signal during my one scheduled call and had to bail. Not sure if it was the wifi or spotty power that is notorious in CR. 5 stars overall

Our stay at Ariane's Airbnb was just wonderful. Ariane was incredibly responsive and friendly, always willing to help us with everything we needed. The place is divine, the photos don't do it justice! In person it is much nicer, with a quiet atmosphere that allowed us to completely disconnect. The surroundings are magical; we could see many little animals without even leaving the property, which we really enjoyed. The house had absolutely everything we needed, and the bed was very comfortable, ensuring a perfect rest. I recommend this spot for close eyes. Our experience was unforgettable and we are already planning to return soon. Thank you Ariane for everything!

We loved Arianes air bnb, it’s been our favourite on our Costa Rica trip! So much wildlife to watch from the decking, and the howler monkeys do some great dawn and dusk singing! The cabin was great, clean, and had everything we needed. Ariane was super quick to respond to messages and was really helpful throughout our stay. The only negative was the road noise directly behind the cabin - the gravel track got quite noisy at certain times.

Hi Lindsey, we are happy that you and your partner liked everything. We are really one of the last places here in the Pt.Viejo Area which keep holding on, to the large trees and safe the animals so much as possible. Hope Talamanca can still keep these a bit longer as you are absolutely right: when the Construction vehicles passing by its terrible, tourism's is now also growing here in the Caribbean unfortunately and the monkeys also dont like it but - what can we do ?

Our stay at Ariane's was amazing! we were met by the host on arrival and she made sure we had everything we needed. When the Wi-Fi had an issue, she responded immediately and fixed it. We loved being in the jungle & hearing the birds, seeing the toucans, and we even saw a sloth! My favorite experience was sitting in the hammock chair in the morning reading a book listening to the sounds of the jungle.

This is by far the best AirBnB I have ever been at. I took hundreds of pictures from our deck. It’s so beautiful; it is like a master gardener carved out a beautiful place in a tropical rainforest for people to live. There are a few other bungalows here which are far enough away from each other that you don’t even know your neighbors are there and yet close enough to each other that you can invite them to dinner. (Yes, we have.) From our deck, we have seen howler monkeys, iguanas, kuati, sloths, geckos, agoutis, parrots, toucans, hummingbirds and butterflies. Ariane answers texts usually within minutes. But we didn’t need to send many texts because we knew we would always see her walking by our bungalow several times a day. She’s so friendly that it’s difficult to think of her as a businesswoman. There is some road noise from the nearby gravel road but not so much that we couldn’t sleep through it. If we make it back to Costa Rica (so much to see in the world), we’ll come back here.

Our stay at Ariane's bungalow was great. We were surrounded by the jungle. From the really nice terrace we could watch birds and other animals. A sloth sat right on the first day in a large jungle tree over our roof. On the other days we were able to continue watching a few trees. We fell asleep to sea noise and were woken up by howler monkeys. It was great to talk to Ariane, who also speaks Spanish and English, and to entertain her husband in German. They gave us many tips and so we could enjoy the Caribbean, which was within walking distance, to the fullest. Thank you for the great stay!!! We will be happy to come back "Pura"...

Beware this place is completely ant infested and dusty. Ants on toilet seat, lamps, walls and all in the bed. I didn’t bring food inside and I still suffered from this. I was giving no proper tour of how to use things. I had to keep texting host asking questions about things that should already been told to me. I was given a full refund after continuous verbal back-and-forth. But this refund doesn’t equivalent to the amount of money I spent to get there.

Super nice place to stay - a place to feel good and come down from everyday work! We stayed 3 nights in a bungalow with bathroom. The view into the beautifully landscaped garden is one of a kind! And in the morning you are woken up by howler monkeys - the coffee maker and gas hob as well as the fridge are available in every bungalow. Since we were not backpackers, we did not have salt, pepper and oil in our luggage - here it would have been nice if the three things were included - but a supermarket can be reached by car in 3 minutes. The beach and restaurants are within 5 minutes' walking distance. So perfect location. All in all perfect - thank you :)

The cabins have all that you would need. They are in the wilderness, so expect to be woken by wild birds, as there are plenty. Just staying at Ariane's place you will have the opportunity to see toucans, parrots, and hummingbirds. Definitely have some bug repellant with you.

If you are looking for a spot clean, private, super stylish and with a perfect location...Ariane’s place is perfect!!! The price is super reasonable for what she offers. Each cabin is super clean, parking space available; the place is surrounded by nature which makes it quite fresh when the humid heat of the Caribbean strikes. Inside the cabin you’ll have many amenities that are super useful: equipment to prepare your own simple meals, coffe station, small fridge, etc. Also, the bed is super comfy. If you decide to stay at her place you are set for a great time!!!

Ariane’s place is absolutely wonderful. We loved staying in the cabinas surrounded by the jungle with a quick walk to the beach. There is a bakery, tapas restaurant, and bike rental place within a 10 minute walk. The bikes make it extremely easy to get to town or the dozens of beautiful beaches close by. I highly recommend staying here.

Nice very clean and new Cabaña. There are 3 houses next to each other, we had the middle one. When you stay here, you stay really in the dschungel. There are howler monkeys, toucans, a lot of colourful birds and glowworms in the garden. There is a night watcher which is staying in a small house in the garden. And because they will build a yoga area when the season is over, there are some building materials in the garden. For a nicer view maybe it is better to hide them. But don’t worry - no construction during the season! The Cabaña is open on the tops to the roof, so you have always fresh air and you do not need a fan. 7 minutes walk down to the mainroad, 15 minutes walk to the next big supermarket, 25 minutes walk to Cocles beach, for us the nicest beach around this area. You have the possibility to rent a bike just across the street 2 minutes away from the Cabañas. You have kitchen stuff for making breakfast and simple food. If something is missing ask Ariane and she will organise it. The only negative point is the gravel road just behind the houses. Some cars are very noisy. We enjoyed our stay!

We had a lovely 7 day stay at Ariane’s place. Upon check in we were greeted with true hospitality of sugar & coffee to use (Ariane said sometimes people don’t have a chance to get the essentials on their first night. This was a nice touch.) The facilities were very clean and new. Ariane and her husband were pleasant and responsive. We had the power go off a few times on our last night and some of the other casitas ran out of water briefly. It was 8:30 pm and they drove right over to fix the issue as they live nearby. Ariane had lots of local tips which my boyfriend and I very much appreciated on where to go and what to see. They are in the middle of construction right now (building a yoga deck) so there were a lot of building materials lying around. There is a local boy who comes to watch the grounds at night Ariane called him the “waiter.” We admittedly misunderstood his role when Ariane mentioned him so were a bit startled at night by someone playing music out of their phone speaker sitting in the dark. We did have to ask this young man to turn down his music during sleeping hours as my boyfriend woke up at 3am one night to his music. Just to be aware— the cabinas themselves are made out of very thin wood. If you are a light sleeper, this is likely not a good choice of a place to stay for you. On the flip side it is beautiful to hear the birds, cicadas, and sounds of howler monkeys— but road is rocky/ rough and it is right behind the cabinas so at night you may hear local cars barreling through. Didn’t bother us too much but if you are sensitive to sound then something to be mindful of. We had a 7 day stay as I mentioned— we were provided a few rolls of toilet paper and one 5 gallon jug of water for drinking (not safe to drink the tap water as it is rain/well water). If you have a longer stay you will definitely go through what is provided and will need to replenish those on your own so just plan for that as a small extra cost and a trip out. We had a car so it wasn’t an issue but I cannot imagine if you were limited to a bicycle how you would ever get a 5 gallon jug of water up those roads. The shower is one of those electric ones— so we did not have hot water in our shower but again we are not picky. Ariane was kind enough to lend us extra things we needed like a cutting board and some beach towels. We were coming from far away and didn’t have our own beach towels— these are not traditionally provided so something to pack if you’re coming here. As far as humidity— do not bring electronics! My laptop died completely and we had to put it in a giant sack of rice. The cabina is moist and this is more of the back-to-nature cozy experience— not the type of place with A/C obviously (I don’t care much for A/C but if you are sensitive to heat then something to consider— my boyfriend needed to borrow a fan which Ariane was kind enough to provide for us. ) Overall we had a very nice experience at the cabinas and came at a promotional price so we felt the value was good. Thank you, Ariane!

Thanks for your detailed report Hallie, about your first airbnb experience. I'd like to respond to a few points to avoid misunderstandings. The place itself is not under construction and the land is 3000 sqm with 3 Cabinas at the moment, so a big land with beautiful trees and animals all over - and yes, an area where you can see that there will be a yoga deck in the future, with the material ready. I feel that the rest of the points apply to the whole Caribbean area in general - the houses are typical Caribbean-style eco friendly wooden houses and the wood is the best building wood (Laurel) you can get in this area. The 5 gallon water, just like the coffee and other things, are an extra for our guest. Even in hotels you are not provided with free drinking water from the bottles during your whole stay. If one would like to replace the 5 gallons with a new one, we always offer our car to help as we did to you (since we weren't sure if you still had your car). So nobody need to carry it with a bici and there are even tuc tuc's which are very helpful when you don't have car. Also the rain/well water is the norm in this area (you shouldn't drink out of the tap anywhere here) as is the humidity (in-between the ocean and the rainforest) and yes some electronic things can have problems here in the Caribe. The showers provide hot water and are the typical ones. We had daily conversations - it's a pity that you didn't tell us that you had cold water, we would have of course shown you how to get hot water with the flip of a switch. We are here in Caribe Sur, it's the pure life - that's what makes it so special and we are happy you enjoyed your time here. Pura Vida Hallie!

We loved our stay in Ariane's new cabinas. I'm pretty sure we are only the second or third couple to have staying in one of her beautiful cabinas as they are sparkling clean and brand new. We had great communication with Ariane prior to arrival and we had our shuttle driver drop us off right at her place, three driveways up from Bugabutik Hotel. The property is located about a 5 minute walk off the main road, right at the end there is a small hill but it is not a big deal at all and getting up a bit tends to get you away from the mosquitos! The cabinas are located on a corner lot with occasional local "traffic" that goes by but other than a few cars you feel like you are smack dab in the middle of the jungle. The cabina itself is incredibly spacious, the bed is really comfy, small little set up for being able to keep drinks and prepare simple meals or snacks, tons of outlets for charging phones and camera batteries (which you'll need since the wildlife spotting in the area is superb) and lots of room to spread out. There are a number of really good restaurants on the main road within walking distance and the grocery story is less a 15 minute easy walk. We happened to stay during an incredibly rainy week and were so thankful we had this beautiful cabina to spend more time than we expect it, we loved sitting on the big covered deck watching the birds come through and listening to the sounds of the jungle...this place really is a gem. One caveat, at the time of this post she did not have internet for her property and we were using a signal from some cabinas below her, we did not have very good service and it was a little challenging when needing to work...she said if we moved closer down to the other property it would get better but with the rain we really were not able to move around with technology that freely...she said she has ordered wifi for her property and waits for them to come install it, not a big deal if you just need to get on occasionally but worth mentioning if you need to do anything pressing to check with her if her own wifi is in! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Here, time stops. When we arrived at Ariane's, we discover a magnificent wooden house, super functional , very well equipped, there is everything we would need! When we arrived , there were pretty leaves/flowers on the bedside tables, a pretty hammac to rock us, and the magnificent orchestra of birds and monkeys in the garden itself! Every morning we were able to observe a lot of toucans. To sum up, it is a corner of paradise surrounded by beautiful beaches, a dream place to stop to enjoy a pura vida! thank you again to Ariane and her warm welcome
