7BR Villa in Tamarindo

House of Jupiter was beautiful. Had everything we needed and more. Door can be a little tricky to lock but we got used to it. Small heads up, there is a small step down in the lower bathroom that can be easy to miss. Elderly and kids should be careful. This isn’t too uncommon in other places we have stayed in Costa Rica, though. Upper level fans were enough to keep us comfortable- AC in lower level was a bonus but not a NEED to have. House is about a 13 minute drive from the main road- though it’s bumpy there are very few blind curves which makes it pretty easy to navigate. Layout works great for larger groups. My mother stayed in the back room in the lower level and couldn’t hear a sound when the rest of us were enjoying the night on the patio by the pool. Washer and dryer worked great, we didn’t try upper level oven but lower level works as should. Host was quick to respond and facilitated booking cars which made it easy to transport directly from Quepos airport to the house.

Beautiful area and home. Our kids never wanted to leave. We loved the pool and the temperature was perfect to cool off in after a hot day full of activities. The house was bigger than we thought with plenty of rooms for everyone and lots of seating. The big covered patio was nice to cover us from the rain while kids played in the pool. The view is amazing with a toucan that would come visit daily. The road to the house was steep in parts and about 15 minutes on a dirt road but we were able to make it fine with 2 wheel drive but definitely easier when we switched to 4 wheel drive. We absolutely loved it and would stay again! Wendy was quick to respond when we had any questions and gave us so many great suggestions on tours to do in the area. They also help set up our rental car and gave us so much info on the area and best places to visit which was very helpful.

We loved our stay at Jeff & Wendy’s place. The house is bigger than it appears in pictures, upper level has high ceilings lined with bamboo, the huge patio with hammocks was incredible, and the kids loved the pool. Jeff was a great communicator, always helpful and responsive and flexible when we decided we wanted to add on the lower level for the rest of our family. The lower level is a cool separate apartment that you can enter from the pool area- it has an AC unit in the living room so our kids enjoyed getting some AC breaks down there! Upper level is cooled with fans only- I was concerned it would be too hot to sleep in July but we actually ended up using sheets and blankets - it cooled down quite a bit at night. We saw many creatures- moneys, toucans, and another cool creature we didn’t know the name of. We had a couple of issues with gas/appliances but Jeff was helpful and responsive. I read many reviews that were concerned about the drive up but our 4x4s handled it perfectly!

Stayed in November and loved it so much, we brought our friends and family back for March Break. Although dry season was hotter and we didn't get to see as many monkeys up close we still had a great time. The pool was our favorite spot to cool off and listen to the beautiful rainforest sounds. The kids loved seeing the coatis, they were so cute. We would love to come back again at the tail end of wet season, that's when the rainforest really comes alive. Thank you for hosting us!

House of Jupiter did not disappoint. Our group of 12 enjoyed a 1 week stay at this property and everyone loved this place. It was very private, located in the mountains 15 minutes east of Dominical. It was spacious, and did not make us feel crowded at all. The beds were comfortable and cozy. The place was clean. Plenty of dishes and pots and pans in the 2 kitchens available. The pool was super refreshing. It was nice having this quiet space in the middle of the jungle. We were visited every morning by toucans, and several monkeys stopped by one afternoon. Jeff was very responsive to any questions we had, and helpful in booking excursions. There were a few little hiccups with a water main break in the neighborhood (off property) which made the pool unusable for a day, and water pressure low, but that shouldn’t normallybe expected. Also, there is a great book suggesting excursion’s that Jeff can help you book, just know that some times, and prices in the book are outdated.

Our stay was fantastic! The house was perfect for our family of 11, ages 9-80. The pool and the large porches were a big hit! The house was clean and as pictured. We didn’t spot quite as much wildlife as some mentioned, but we did see monkeys, coatis, lizards, agouti, a Jesus Christ lizard, and toucans. Jeff was AMAZING! He ordered food for delivery for us from the Soda down the hill, & helped us book the rental cars through a local company whose customer service was amazing. He booked snorkeling tours, ziplining and provided lists of best beaches & waterfalls, restaurant recs, and grocery stores. The house was well stocked with pots and pans and dishes. There were lots of condiments (probably left from other visitors so I imagine it changes). The upstairs unit doesn’t have A/C but stayed fairly comfortable most of the time. The road did take some getting used to--get the 4x4. Wifi worked great! Jeff and Wendy are incredibly helpful! We hope to be back some day!

This is the second trip we've done to House of Jupiter and it's difficult to come up with the superlatives to describe how incredibly amazing Jeff and Wendy are, the spacious house in a spectacular location, and the total vibe that is Costa Rica. One day, we got stuck in the driveway. I know, I didn't get a 4x4 and got a large passenger van (hey we had 8 of us there!), but now I regret that decision. Despite my foolishness and even though Jeff always suggests a 4x4, especially in the rainy season, Wendy was there ASAP early in the morning (Jeff was out of town) to help find a solution to get us out. THEN, they had someone come fortify the driveway, so my dumbass could always make it up the driveway. This and a litany of other ways they serve their guests should make them the hosts of the decade. They are that kind and service oriented. WAY above and beyond for their guests. The house is super clean, HUGE, and well supplied with everything you need. The drive is steep, twisty and narrow, and can feel slightly uncomfortable when passing another vehicle, but if you take it slow and make sure to get the proper vehicle (ahem), you will have no trouble. Just take it slow. Everyone in Dominical seems to know Jeff and Wendy...one tour guide said he grew up with her and went to school together. If we said we're staying at Jeff and Wendy's, they all nodded and smiled! Such wonderful hosts in one of the most beautiful regions in the world. We'll be back again, no doubt.

Dreams really do come true. We booked house of jupiter nearly 3 years ago for Easter 2020, of course we all know what happened then, and subsequently our trip to Costa rica was cancelled. Jeff and Wendy have been fabulous ever since and we finally made it after 2 years of uncertainty. They not only gave us the dates we wanted, but also arranged our car hire, which was invaluable as we needed help after bursting a tyre. They arranged a new car for us the following morning. The house of jupiter was my dream home in costa rica, set in a jungle location, a couple of miles up a dirt road, totally immersed in nature. The house itself felt like staying in a tree house, everything is made from bamboo and brightly decorated. The patio and huge balcony areas offer spectacular views over the trees, and sometimes clouds, down to the Pacific ocean. From these areas we saw so much wildlife, the resident Jesus lizard, the toucans, eagles, buzzards, humming birds, frogs, bats, lizards, giant crickets, fireflies, deer, white faced Coati, peccary (pig), white faced capuchin monkeys and lots of agouti every day. if you leave the downstairs bedroom doors open at night it feels like you're really sleeping in the jungle, it's just a couple of steps away. The noises at night were something else!! The sun rising will wake you up from your bed, then step outside for the wonder as the jungle wakes up. We loved all the little touches around the home that were typically costa rican. We loved taking our compost down to the pineapple patch every evening, then wondering which animals had been in the night to steal the leftovers. We loved having ice cubes on tap, brilliant to fill our water bottles up with before a day out. We loved the ceiling fans everywhere. We loved having a hot shower with the door open to the jungle. We loved cooling down with the outside shower, it was so refreshing as the pool warmed up from the sun. We loved having to top the pool up for the skimmers. We loved how much stuff you left available for us, we've never had this before in Europe anyway. Bin liners, toilet roll, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, sponges, hand soap, washing powder, all kinds of condiments and sauces, the list goes on, everything you could possibly need. My kids loved having netflix, especially as it was the US version and they could watch anime that wasn't out in the UK. We even grew to love the road going up to the house, it was part of the adventure. We made sure to use only eco friendly products like insect repellent and sun cream, so we didn't upset the eco system. Thank you Jeff and Wendy for letting us stay in your beautiful home. Pura vida

Jeff and Wendy were the best hosts I’ve ever experienced. The home itself is truly incredible and photos do not do it justice or capture how wonderfully beautiful the space is! On top of the home having everything we needed and being a wonderful space to have fun and relax, Jeff helped us out with so much. Leading up to our arrival we spoke constantly and he provided guidance and arranged for rental cars and multiple shuttles with various arrivals and departures. We were a complicated group of 10 all coming from different locations with different flights and Jeff was incredible on helping book and plan all the logistics. I cannot thank him enough for making this a truly memorable trip for us all

The house is great! You really are in the middle of a rainforest, with all of the wild life you can imagine. It's true that you will probably see more wild life sitting on the balcony for a couple of hours than you will at national parks such as Manuel Antonio (although I wouldn't miss that). Each day we saw 10-30 capuchin monkeys and a variety of toucans. We heard howler monkeys every day but didn't spot any. The views are amazing, more beautiful than the pictures. Down to the basics, the beds were super comfortable, the house is very airy and a comfortable temperature and the internet worked 100%. The location was great. Dominical is the cutest little town with some really great restaurants. The beach is beautiful. We visited Manuel Antonio national park which was just a little over an hour away and Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary (they do great work helping injured and misplaced animals) which was even closer. I would recommend both. There's a lot to see! Beautiful beaches and waterfalls all nearby. Jeff and Wendy were excellent hosts. They were so helpful. Helping to arrange our car rental and covid testing and making some great recommendations. We had a great trip and would love to return to the House of Jupiter one day.
