Studio in Playa Santa Teresa

Juan Carlos

Not good, 4 months ago

Noise at night in the restaurant late at night And loud acoustic music, which was at odds with the tranquility and relaxation we were looking for. The restaurant is too expensive. Otherwise, it's the most expensive in Santa Teresa.

The cottage was great! Very central to everything which was amazing and had the best beach bar right on the sand. Would definitely stay here again!

Host Response

Thank you Bethany, we are here at any time you want to come back!!

Emilya was great and stress free to deal with when checking in and out of the bungalow. The listing is accurate except the bungalow is now brown, but still just as charming. We were welcomed by a clean room with flower pedals scattered on the bed. The bungalow is about 50 mt. from the beach and the proximity to Banana Bar (a local beachside restaurant) is awesome. This was our favorite place that we stayed during our two week honeymoon in Costa Rica. The town of Santa Teresa is laid back, the scenery is gorgeous, the surf is consistent and during the green season in May the crowds were small to non-existent. We would absolutely return the Lula Bungalow and hope to in the future.

Host Response

We were happy to have you spend part of your honeymoon with us, and I'm so happy you enjoyed your time with us.

The Lula bungalow was exactly as pictured and the location is the big draw. The accommodations are very basic and if you set your expectations accordingly, you will not be disappointed. Pros: location, steps from an amazing stretch of beach and the Banana Beach bar (loved it!). Walking distance from market and several restaurants. People who work/manage the property are very nice and want to make sure you are happy. A/C and wifi works great. Cons: lack of storage or anything to put your clothes in in the bungalow. No coffee maker in the room, despite it being a kitchenette (Costa Rican coffee is delicious and I like mine as soon as I wake up). Most of the electrical outlets in the room weren't working when we got there, but they sent maintenance and he was able to fix all but the bathroom one. Overall it was a good 4-day stay and we enjoyed our time at Lula.

HOST: Great contact and communication prior to arrival. Main reception by restaurant was rarely staffed. No wifi information given to us until we asked other guests RECEPTION: confusion on location as there is no clear sign. There are 3 different names to the location. The gentleman at the reception initially seemed bothered by us, passed us off to Eli after 3 younger girls showed up behind us. LULA BUNGALOW: Private yard seemed great at first but ended up being an avenue for thieves and peeping toms. The room was clean with a nice king bed. The shower could use some updating as well as the kitchenette area as well. The roof needs to be repaired as it is being covered by a tarp. We had a rainy night and had 2 inches on our floor when we woke up (discount given) We stayed 3 nights here! GARDEN BUNGALOW: more of a tree house style bungalow with open gaps and exposure. I'm not a bug person at night so we slept downstairs on 2 Separate single beds to try to avoid the little critters. We used baygon bug spray around our beds on the floor and avoided them:) The shower is open to the outside up top at the roof. We came home one day to a huge iguana in the shower area, he was living in the roof area! Both accommodations are overpriced for what you get!!!! POOL: Warm and clean. You cannot stop the leaves from falling so don't judge those. The pool cleaner was there 2x daily as we spent a ton of time there. It was a great atmosphere only lacking a bar!!! RESTAURANT/BAR: The restaurant served delicious food that was mildly over priced. The servers were nice but quite slow as they speak to much to the guests and keep you waiting. The bar was great, 2 for 1 drinks were a decent deal. The view is amazing. Entertainment was really good especially Rhapso's fire shows SURF SHOP: Non-enticing. No advertising. Didn't look trustworthy enough to trust my life with them SPA: What spa??? BANANA BEACH: Best part of this amenity. The beach is clean and there is accessible seating as well. Sunsets from here are amazing. Great location to watch the surfers!! Tons of stray dogs..love them LOCATION: PERFECT!! RATING: 3.5 stars Value for money is mediocre. They are overpriced especially when the beach and restaurant are free and available fir anyone to use!! We would consider coming back to the area but would rent the private villas with private pools next time. It is what it is. The pictures are better online but you cannot go wrong with a few day experience here.
