Maria's place was beautiful.. and just as described and pictured! The house felt luxurious and private at the same time. Her home was stocked with plenty of clean linens, soaps, etc which I always appreciate. The pool was very clean and refreshing. The location was perfect - just a 2 minute walk to the beach - so easy and accessible. Great restaurants walking distance as well. Maria was responsive and helpful. And one of our favorite parts - we were awoken one morning by a monkey on our patio! Wonderful stay - would definitely recommend!

This is a wonderful Air BnB. The highlight is the private pool which is a great size and temperature. There are lots of toys available too. We spent much of our vacation playing with the kids in the pool. The kitchen is well equipped and the AC works well. Langosta is a beautiful rocky beach and a nice place to see the sunset. There are some close by restaurants but we really appreciated having a golf cart for our stay and there is parking including plus ability to keep the cart charged. Overall we had a great trip and would stay here again.

The location is genuinely special. Playa Langosta right across the street, quiet and uncrowded, while Tamarindo’s restaurants and nightlife are a short drive away or even walk. The house is charming with real character, and could easily be a premium experience. The gap between potential and reality is noticeable though. The house is lived in by the owners and it shows. Cluttered, surfaces not properly cleaned, greasy kitchen, persistent sewage odor in the second floor bathroom from day one, and a clogged shower drain that was never resolved despite reporting it. AC units are old and noisy. A curtain rod fell off the wall when simply opened. Maria Paula is responsive on messaging but does not resolve much at distance. Plus relies exclusively on what her maid unilaterally says Listing photos don’t reflect current condition. The property has real potential but needs a serious deep clean and maintenance attention that matches its price point. Other reviews say the same. We echo them
Host Response
This is our home and for this reason guests get access to things that are not normally available in vacation rentals. We advertise it as a family friendly home- we offer guests toys, children’s books, pool toys, bike, scooter, craft stuff, board games, gates for stairs, high chair, crib… things that if you have children you will appreciate. Now, all this is stored throughout the house where things live (in drawers, baskets, cabinets, etc). We don’t leave clutter on the surfaces and we also remove all our personal stuff like clothes, bathroom things, nightstands, groceries, etc. Because we live here, in the kitchen you will find all kinds of cooking utensils and a drawer with spices, unlike some vacation rentals that have the absolute basic things. When we arrived home after this booking we also noticed the smell these guests mention, it was coming from the water in the shower. This is not something that had ever happened before. A plumber came to check and he said this was not a situation of just this house but because it was super high season (easter) and there was water shortage in the area, the water that was coming from the water company was from the bottom of the tanks and was coming in smelly. After a few days the water returned to normal. In other high seasons this has not happened so I’m unsure what this was about. In the kitchen we have reverse osmosis filters for cooking and drinking so it was upstairs that the water was smelly. Since the time the photos were taken we have done work to the house so I agree that the photos don’t show everything accurately. For example, we worked on the bathrooms and now they are way more modern and nice. The AC units are not old, they have all been replaced within the last 4 years and depending on the setting you have them on and the fan intensity they will be louder or quieter. The curtain rod had been fine for 5 years and the fact that it fell for them is unfortunate but it’s not because of bad quality or lack of maintenance, random things like this can happen in any house. We feel disappointed that these guests found our home didn’t meet their standards. We live in a beautiful part of the world and when we travel we choose to share it with other families. We proud ourselves for having a nice home and we do our best to keep it in good shape, clean and welcoming for our guests. We have a 4.82 star rating on Airbnb (even after their bad review) and we appear as a “guest favorite” so for these guests to say that with this review they are echoing what other guests have said is simply unfair and untrue. We encourage potential guests to actually read through all our other glowing reviews before making up their minds.

We had a wonderful stay here and would absolutely recommend it. The host was super responsive, helpful, and made everything feel easy from start to finish. The area is beautiful, and one of the biggest highlights was being able to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets right across the street at the beach. The location was also ideal - a little farther from town, which made it feel quieter and less hectic, but still so quick, easy, and convenient to get into town whenever we wanted. Overall, such a lovely stay in a beautiful spot!!!! Bonus points for the home being kid friendly and providing some sand toys and play toys for the pool!

We loved our stay in Playa Langosta. María Paula’s place is in a lovely quiet location. It was easy to get to the beach and to restaurants. I enjoyed the howler monkeys in the trees right outside.

This is such a lovely home, a great place to come home to after a day of adventure. They have everything you need there- full kitchen, beach toys and towels, and a refreshing clean pool. Maria was great- she even helped us with a package that was sent to us there! We had several nights when the howler monkeys visited there, which was a big treat!

This was our first time in Costa Rica and Maria made it a very easy trip by arranging our airport transfers and suggesting who to contact for excursions. Her place was walkable to the beach and town and we also sometimes chose to rent scooters which made it only a 5 Mn commute. We really enjoyed the Indian restaurant next door and found a ping pong/pool table bar close by as well. The pool was also fun to hang out in and was cleaned while we were there. I would def recommend staying here.

We were unable to stay at this property due to a serious safety issue involving neighbors. The situation escalated to the point that the host called the police, and determined it was not safe for us to remain. The host relocated us, and we did not stay overnight in the unit. The host was responsive during the incident, but the environment made the accommodation unusable for our trip.
Host Response
The neighbors were throwing a party and I messaged the police for noise control, not because I didn’t think my guests were not safe. The neighbors yelled from inside their house rude comments after asked to turn the music off, clearly drunk and disappointed that the party had ended but my guests got so scared, they decided to leave and not return for the rest of their 4 day stay. The issue was a loud party with drunk visitors (they don’t live in that house, they were visiting from Canana), not a safety issue. This had never happened before and the next day we got an apology from the owner of the house next door. It’s disappointing that this situation resulted in my guests not being able to complete their stay and enjoy their vacations.

Amazing villa and perfect for families. Great location close to playa langosta and short walk to the quiet side of playa Tamarindo. The home was very clean, well equipped, and comfortable. The Private Pool was the perfect size for our family. (with our children being 11, 7, 5 and 3 years old) Pool had lots of kids toys and was a great way to cool down. BBQ offered a quick way to cook up some food in between activities and during down time. Overall we had an incredible time and created great memories here. We visit Costa Rica annually and will definitely see if Marias Villa is available next year. Highly recommend this place.
