We absolutely loved our stay with Tania! We’ve stayed in a dozen homes in Costa Rica, and this is the first one that truly doesn’t need AC. There are windows and doors everywhere, and the air flows through very nicely. But, if you need them, there are ACs everywhere. There’s so much space, especially with the casita, and the house is 3 minutes to central Atenas which we loved. Highly recommend staying here!!

Great place !!!

Host Response

Thank you for choosing to spend your Holiday here in Atenas! Best wishes for the New Year!

We found the house to be comfortable and clean. The pool is well kept and warm enough. It is solar heated. The outdoor photos are a bit older and are stretched a bit. Inside was clean and the kitchen stocked with appliances and utensils and had some staples upon arrival. One of the bedrooms in the main house had AC as well as the kitchen and the living room. If you ran the AC units along with the all the ceiling fans during the day the other 2 bedrooms cooled down enough to sleep ok. The guest house did have AC and a small kitchenette. The house was close enough to a grocery store and a few bars and restaurants to walk to within about 15-20 minutes as long as you don’t mind walking up hill. Attractions are 1-2 hours best done during the non rush hours of San Jose. During rush hours it can take an hour or more to get just 10-20 miles. Not the fault of the home but something to be aware of. The hosts were always quick to answer any questions and check in was easy.

Hello John, My home has received five star ratings all year. The pictures are not stretched and the listing photos and descriptions are accurate. Airbnb would have taken issue with the listing had there been a single complaint. The ambient temperature ranged from 68-78°F during your stay. Our guests love having air-conditioning available even if it’s not especially needed! Additionally, you visited during Independence Day weekend in Costa Rica when the roads are closed for parades and festivities which you sought out and enjoyed. Again the listing location is accurate and the traveling times are as well. And yes, my home is located within walking distance of several local conveniences! If you do mind walking on hilly roads in a mountain town, consider driving a rental car or calling an Uber. I think that would be advice for anyone visiting Costa Rica and not to my particular Airbnb. We were under the impression you enjoyed your stay and are very surprised and disappointed, but hope you otherwise enjoyed beautiful Costa Rica. Pura Vida, Tania

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood was wonderful. We woke up for morning runs and it was perfect. The kids LOVED the pool as they were able to get in whenever. My kids asked within the first 24 hours if they could move to Costa Rica and stay in this house for ever (lol). The locals were very helpful and friendly. We recommend Tania’s place as our host was so helpful and responsive from start to finish. We felt welcomed and serviced every step of the way. Thank you for a great time.

They need to clean alll better. Alot of spyder web, lizard pup, when you walk inside your feet turns black of dust, the tables counters had a lot of dust! The oven was dirty, the pillows smell bad, we bought new to sleep, we need to wash all of the bedding,. The closet are dirty, the towels smell bad and they are old. Overall the place is great but need better maintenance and new things. Needs kitchen things new.

Eric, it rained 100% of your stay. We were experiencing extreme winds as well during this El Niño season. Wildlife such as lizards will try to find high ground including going inside a home. Such would be expected and mentioned in the listing. Most guests find all the wildlife in Costa Rica charming. There were no cobwebs, or dirt, all new sheets and towels were purchased in January, a new mattress was purchased for the guesthouse in March. All the furniture was new purchased in 2021. There are ACs and fans in all the large rooms and 3 dehumidifiers available as well. Additional housekeeping was afforded to you and premium services were procured upon your request. If you chose to deny those services, there’s nothing more we can do to help a client that is unhappy with their vacation plans. You should have considered checking the weather and buying vacation insurance. Weather is an act of God. Anyone is welcome to look at your reservation dates to see how unusual the weather patterns in Costa Rica have been this year. I suggest you travel to desert climates instead. Regards, Tania
