Dana's cottage is very spacious and has everything you need. Our highlight was the bicycles. The cabin is a bit further from the center and located in a residential area, which we liked very much, and thanks to the bikes, you could also get to things quickly. What detracted a bit from our experience was that the shower was very inconvenient, as it had no or very little water pressure, as well as a few minor issues with the amenities. All in all, though, we were happy to stay at Dena's place and would gladly recommend the accommodation!

honestly a lot to say about this property. from the outside it’s cute but there’s holes in the walls and floors which allow all bugs in and noise. ferrel cats and dogs at all hours of the night, you will not sleep here. bikes were useful but it’s pretty far from the main street (15 min) but easy roads. Bathroom had major issues, a leak under the rink that made all the towels damp and never dry. the shower had the pressure of a water bottle drizzling. the toilet also did not flush toilet paper well. there’s no comforters on the bed it’s a throw blanket. windows allow all bugs in and the house is whatever temp the outside is. the fence swings back at you and the bike stands don’t work well. don’t get me wrong, if you’re not in the house a lot it’s a nice place but the noise and the bugs are just so insanely bad. the host is super nice and answers quickly and gave us early check in and late checkout which was super nice and recommendations! it’s not their fault for outside factors!

We are sorry that you were not completely satisfied. Thank you for your feedback, which helped us discover a leaking pipe under the sink, which we have already repaired. Since this is a tropical island, we do not automatically provide warm blankets, but everything is available upon request (the same way like we provided fresh towels). At the same time, all windows have insect screens and the apartment has been freshly insulated against insects. We have no idea where the problem originated. Nevertheless, thank you for your feedback, there is always room for improvement.

We stayed 4 nights at Hawk‘s Nest and really enjoyed our time there! It‘s a bit away from the center (as indicated on the map) but we preferred it like this and it was easy and fast to get there by bicycle (or taxi/golf cart). There were bicycles available at the cabin which was a big plus! The cabin itself had everything we needed and we could have easily stayed longer :) Communication with Dena was really fast and easy, check-in as well. We would definitely recommend staying there!☺️

The cabin description is accurate for the interior. Outside could use a bit more maintenance. The bicycles were good. This is a great place to stay if you want a place to sleep and go out to do a lot of activities. We like to relax on decks, so it wasn't good for us in that way. Near garbage transfer station, so there was a lot of garbage in the mangroves. The property next door had a lot of garbage. Due to abnormal rains, there was a LOT of standing water, so not good for biting insects. Our issues with the property were largely out of the control of the hosts (who we never met in person, but we're good with messaging). We left early and stayed elsewhere.

We spent 3 wonderful nights at Hawk's Nest and it was an unforgettable experience. The owner, Dena, was incredibly communicative from the start, providing clear and detailed instructions that made our arrival seamless. The location was exactly what we were looking for—peaceful and away from the busier, touristy areas of the island. Yet, it was still easy to access those parts by bike, which were provided as part of the accommodation. This added convenience made exploring the area even more enjoyable. The cabin itself had a charming rustic design. It was also fully equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen was well-stocked, the Wi-Fi was reliable, and there was a TV. Everything was spotlessly clean, and it was clear that a lot of care went into maintaining the space. Overall, it was the perfect getaway, and I can wholeheartedly recommend Hawk's Nest. Dena’s hospitality and attention to detail made it a truly special stay, and we would love to return in the future!

First, Dena, which is the name she corresponded under, switched cabins right before we departed the USA, without any input from us. Then, and this is the inexcusable part, she canceled our reservation AS WE LANDED IN BELIZE! So, there we are, headed to immigration, and we didn't even have an address to give them. We were in a new country with no place to stay. As a seasoned traveler I was blown away by her callousness. THANK HEAVENS, we just happened to fly in with a couple her were from Belize, and they took wonderful care of us. It could easily have been a nightmare situation. Dena should not be allowed to rent on Airbnb.

Host Response

Unfortunately, the guest's rating does not match the reality as it took place. I was deeply saddened by the fact that this occurred, but on the day of the guest's arrival we discovered that there was a problem with the cabin roof. I immediately wrote to the guest about the problem with a recommendation to look for other accommodation but with the provision that they could of course stay the first night in the accommodation to give them more time to find alternative accommodation. That is, there was never a cancellation and the guests had a place to stay and something to report on the immigration form. At the same time, I offered to help the guests find alternative accommodation, I did not dare to book anything without their knowledge. Unfortunately, the guests were very upset from the beginning and refused further assistance. Again, we are very sorry that this situation occurred.
