This place is pure Costa Rican magic! Many people come to CR and never get to experience any thing like this. The monkeys put on the most amazing show. This is our second visit. We can't imagine staying anywhere else.
Host Response
Thank you so much, Sam! It was very cool having you back. We’re thrilled you enjoyed the monkeys again! One of the things that makes this place so special is that the Central American squirrel monkeys you saw are actually an endangered species. Every visit from them is a reminder of how fortunate we are to share this remarkable ecosystem with our guests. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to Keiner. We’d welcome you back anytime and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to any other host. Safe travels, and we hope to see you again soon. Pura Vida!
Mitch's place was awesome. Easy walk to the point and beautiful nature on your back porch. It felt like you were totally secluded and we had tons of awesome monkeys jumping around in the trees and even saw a toucan in the backyard. Communication was super easy and always available. The 2nd bathroom is outside FYI, but was still nice. Would recommend it and definitely stay here again.
Host Response
Thank you Joshua for the kind words. Yes, we need to make it more clear on AirBnB that that the 2nd bathroom is outside of the main house. Thats by design so returning from surfing and cleaning up are easier for everyone. Cheers!
The casa has a lot of character with all the teakwood and jungle landscaping. Felt very private. For surfers there’s a path crossing another vacant lot that takes you to the paddle out spot - about a 5 minute walk. About a 15 minute walk to town restaurants, etc…
Great location! It was a 10 minute walk from the house to the point to surf. You do have to duck under the barbed wire fence but that was no problem for us. The care taker was friendly and helpful. He left us some fruit, which was much appreciated. We loved getting to watch the monkeys from the balcony. The A/C worked great! The house was comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. I really appreciated that there was a crock pot and a coffee grinder. My only complaint was that the washing machine was broken when we were there but I understand these things happen. I would definitely stay here again.
Fantastic house, fully equipped, cozy and in the perfect location, just a few steps from the beach! Keiner is also very helpful. He helps with everything immediately. His responsiveness and politeness are incredible.
Magical stay; the house is very cozy, has an amazing look, and is very well located, just a few steps from the beach. The structure of the house is very good, and the support from the host, Keiner, was the best possible! One of the bathrooms is located outside the house, which was not made clear in the listing. We experienced a few periods of no water due to the severe drought at the time, but they were all short-lived and quickly resolved by the hosts and the caretaker. I recommend and we will definitely return!!
A magical stay in the tree tops a short walk from the beach! The house is built like a ship, just like the photos. The gardens are beautiful. The monkeys are adorable. And the caretaker and hosts made sure that we had everything we needed for a wonderful stay, including sharing links to restaurants, fishermen, and beach locations. We cooked most meals finding everything that we needed in the well layed out kitchen. Also loved the two showers--the outdoor one is refreshing after beach walks to get the sand off (I'm not a cold shower person, but in this climate it feels wonderful) and a good hot one indoors for shampooing. The outdoor shower also has an attached toilet and cold water sink. The indoor shower is separate from the bathroom which is handy. We don't surf, and wondered what we would do while here, but after a lot of adventures earlier in our trip, reading on the deck in the tree tops, cooking fresh fish, and walking on these beautiful, peaceful beaches was perfect.
My family had a wonderful time staying here. We were there for surfing which was in walking distance. The animal diversity was also great with excellent birding right off the balcony. The place was roomy, beautiful, and comfortable. Keiner (onsite caretaker) was fantastic and we really enjoyed our time with him. He was super helpful and available if we had any issues. The gardens were beautiful and we felt very lucky to be in such a cool spot. We really enjoyed our stay and Pavones. Would definitely come back!!
We had a wonderful stay in Mitch’s house. Localization is great, walking distance to the beach or center of the town. Pavones beach break is basically just by the fence. House was extremely cozy, very pretty and practical. Surrounded by nature, tranquility and peace. That was absolutely fantastic stay and hope we’ll be back there soon! Highly recommended to everyone!
If you’re looking for a standard vacation rental, turn back now. But if you’re the kind of traveler who feels the pulse of the Earth beneath your feet, who hears the whispers of the jungle at dawn, and who craves wild freedom — this villa is your portal. Tucked in the green heart of Pavones, this place doesn’t just sit in the jungle — it breathes with it. The wood-paneled walls felt alive, like they had stories from a thousand storms. The air was thick with life — not humidity, but vibration. Frogs chirped at night like a jungle symphony, and the howler monkeys? They’re your cosmic alarm clock — primal, unapologetic, perfect. The architecture is funky and free — open spaces, natural textures, tropical colors, and no attempt to fight the jungle… it flows with it. Big windows for starlight and moonbeams, outdoor showers that remind you you’re a creature of the wild, and a kitchen that invites you to cook barefoot. The road to get here is worth every bump!
Great stay in Pavones... beautiful garden and incredible little monkeys
We had a great time staying at Mitch's place! The house is a beautiful wooden structure surrounded by a lovely garden. It's located in a quiet area, just a short distance from the surf spots. The caretaker, Keiner, was incredibly friendly and provided us with helpful local recommendations (restaurants, surf spots, and more). I highly recommend staying here if you're visiting Pavones!
Mitch’s home in pavones is a great location and comfortable space. Would recommend for anyone visiting to get some surf!
This is a great house. The caretaker Keiner is very kind and hard working. 1 bathroom is outside, toilet had to be fixed. No hot water in outdoor shower Outdoor sink in bathroom does not have running water. No ac in upstairs “4th bedroom” No clothes dryer. Water turns runs out and need to ask caretaker to reset twice a day. One day it took two hours to solve no water issue because caretaker was away. Freezer was at 5C. Freezer repair for over two hours during dinner prep. Mitch was understanding and grateful for my clear feedback and refunded us one day. Hopefully he’s able to either fix the issues or change the description to accurately describe the amenities.
Host Response
Thank you for your detailed feedback and for staying at our home. We’re happy to hear that you enjoyed the house and appreciated Keiner’s kindness and hard work. He truly goes above and beyond to ensure our guests have a comfortable stay. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced. While we strive to provide an accurate listing and a smooth experience, we recognize that some maintenance issues arose during your stay. The water running out and the freezer issue were very unusual occurrences that had never happened to a guest before. As soon as we became aware of the freezer issue, we immediately contacted a repairman, brought ice to the freezer, and stored your food in our caretaker’s casita to ensure it stayed cold. Regarding the water outage, we understand how frustrating it was, and we appreciate your patience. After investigating the issue, we discovered that one of the guests had unintentionally dislodged some pipes while interacting with the water supply tank, which caused the water to drain out. This was an unexpected situation, and while our caretaker responded as quickly as possible, we regret the inconvenience it caused. As for air conditioning, in the past, the four air conditioners in the house have been sufficient to keep the upstairs loft cool at night. However, due to an unusual heat wave, we added two additional floor fans to the loft for extra cooling. We understand that it was still warmer than the bedrooms and living area, which can be cooled down to 65 degrees, and we appreciate your feedback on this. Most homes in the beach area use clotheslines for drying, which is why we provide a dedicated drying line with 50 linear feet of space. However, when the weather does not cooperate, we also have a large dryer available at the caretaker’s casita, just 50 meters away, which our guests are welcome to use. To provide more clarity for future guests, we are updating our listing to better reflect the amenities and drying options. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us enhance the experience for future guests. We appreciate your understanding and are grateful for the opportunity to host you. Best wishes, Mitch
