We stayed at Villa Dragonfly for five wonderful days with my three boys, ages 5 to 13, and Barbara and John were absolutely incredible hosts. Barbara checked on us several times during the drive and kept me updated on the safest and best routes based on the traffic and road conditions. When we arrived later than planned, she even gave me food to prepare for the boys that evening. John’s surf lessons (included in the booking) were a highlight of the trip. My boys had never surfed before, but he had them riding waves on their very first day. They enjoyed it so much that they immediately signed up for another lesson! The villa is stunning, comfortable, and even more beautiful than the photos. The pictures truly do not do it justice. Between the home, the restaurants, the food, the people, and especially the amazing hosts, there is no better place to stay near Santa Teresa. Thank you, Barbara and John, for helping our family create unforgettable memories!

Simply the best!! After ten years of great Airbnb stays this one stands alone. Amazing place in all respects. Awesome view from the back deck, great private infinity pool, wonderful architecture of the house. Monkeys (Mother and her baby) visited the back deck to steal papayas. Barbara is awesome; if desired she will organize great activities (like ATV to the waterfall) and her restaurant recommendations were outstanding (Al Chile Viola is a must); Our yoga lesson on her beautiful onsite yoga deck was a highlight of the trip. Can't wait to go back!

Barbara’s property was the perfect location for a quiet relaxed getaway. She was very responsive and gave amazing recommendations on restaurants and things to do in the area. Barbara was nice enough to help us book private massages to the villa and a private chef for the night we celebrated our anniversary. The house is beautiful and you can’t beat the views from the pool. If you’re thinking about booking this place 100% do it!

Barbara’s place was amazing. We stayed for a week and felt right at home in our little slice of tranquility and nature. Barbara and John are such helpful and gracious hosts, they help make exploring the area smooth and easy. The pool was gorgeous and refreshing, the views to die for, and with comforts of home throughout. It was a nice short ride down the hill to the beaches and towns. And just far enough away to feel private and secluded. I highly recommend renting ATVs - I wish we had them all week - exploring the area in them is definitely the way to go! Our rental car worked, but it just wasn’t the same. I’m grateful to have stayed here and gotten to explore this amazing area.

Staying with Barbara and Johnny was a blast. The space is fantastic, beautiful pool, and perfect location. Definitely take them up on a yoga or surf lesson.

Barbara was an amazing host! Her place is absolutely stunning and in the perfect location — close to the beach, great shops, and so many delicious restaurants. We traveled with our one-year-old, and the accommodations for families were incredible. She provided a crib, high chair, bathtub, and even pool toys, which made traveling so much easier for us. They were so friendly, and her husband even helped us with our car seat since we were having trouble. We also loved seeing monkeys from the back deck. If you’re hesitant to book, just do it. This ended up being one of our favorite family vacations, and we already can’t wait to come back someday!

The place truly felt like home. We loved every moment of our stay, the outdoor space and pool were absolutely amazing and made the experience even more special. Everything felt peaceful, comfortable, and unique. Barbara was a wonderful host, and we would definitely love to come back!

A paradise-like place; it's even more impressive than the photos. The hosts, Barbara and John, were extremely friendly and always willing to help us with anything. They made us feel at home. Once again, thank you both so much for everything!!! It's a place surrounded by nature. On the day of our arrival, we were also welcomed by a family of monkeys, which we saw passing through the trees in front of the spectacular pool. Highly recommended place. We hope to come back some day.

The villa was literally luxury in the middle of the jungle. Our family absolutely loved our stay there. Barbara and John were amazing hosts. The kids and I did a lesson with John and everyone got up and was surfing by the end. They helped us book ATVs and had great recommendations. For anyone considering booking this little slice of heaven, please do better planning than me. If you fly into San Jose, make sure you fly in early enough to catch the ferry to get there. You do not want to have to take an alternate route. It is literally through the jungle up very steep hills, and if you rent a car, you MUST rent a 4x4. ALSO, I wish I would have known in advance that you can catch a local flight from San Jose to an airport very close to the villa. Ask Barbara for those details before booking.

We enjoyed our visit to Barbara and John very much. The villa was as described; everything was provided. We were received in a very friendly manner; the two of them took very good care of us. The view and the pool are a dream. However, the path to the villa is very bumpy; we recommend a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Beautiful house. Excellent experience to spend a few days with friends and enjoy Costa Rica's natural beauty! From the pool, you can see a wide variety of birds and monkeys that live in the area. Communication with Bárbara was very easy, clear, and friendly.

We loved, loved, loved villa dragonfly. The house is spectacular!Barbara and John were attentive hosts, going above and beyond with their recommendations and helping to book excursions. As first time travellers to Costa Rica, we were confident and comfortable with our plans thanks to them.

Absolutely amazing experience. Barbara and her husband were always available for general questions and recommendations. It exceeded everything I expected and am counting the days until I can come back. Beautiful home, beautiful outside space, and flawless communication. If I could give 6 stars I would.

We had a wonderful stay at Barbara and John’s place near Playa Hermosa. They were incredibly friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. My wife and I were traveling with our two daughters, ages two years and seven months, and they made us feel right at home. They were thoughtful, flexible, and genuinely warm hosts, which made a big difference for our family. The property itself was beautiful, clean, well kept, and very relaxing. The private infinity pool was especially lovely and became our little oasis during the hot days. The property also has a private gate, which made us feel very secure and at ease throughout our stay. The location was excellent as well. Playa Hermosa was perfect for the kids, with calm water and an easy, enjoyable beach experience for a young family. We’d absolutely stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Barbara and John’s place to anyone, especially families traveling with young children.

The house was gorgeous! Everything was clean and comfortable. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. It was a beautiful place to return to every day after our fun excursions. The pool was refreshing every morning and evening. Barbara’s yoga class was perfect! We did it in the evening and could see the howler monkeys swinging through the trees. John taught my son and daughter-in-law to surf. They both did awesome, especially since it was their first time. They both attributed their success to John’s expert instruction. Both John and Barbara have very loving and sweet spirits!
