The listing promises a peaceful escape. What you actually get is front-row seating to the road, where traffic provides the soundtrack to your vacation. The photos are a masterclass in creative framing because they somehow forgot to mention the missing door and window seals that invite geckos, ants, and every bug within a five-mile radius directly into the bedrooms. You’re not renting the house alone—you’re simply the largest species staying there. The kitchen doubles as a mouse thoroughfare. Nothing quite says “vacation” like watching rodents make their evening commute while you’re making dinner. The ant infestation is relentless, insects are everywhere, and the stained, broken blinds are a reminder that maintenance appears to have checked out long before the guests arrived. Then there’s the air conditioning, which decided the middle of the night was the perfect time to quit. House is for sale, maintenance isn’t happening. Skip this house, go elsewhere if you want a good vacation!

We’re sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. We respectfully disagree with many of the statements in this review, which we believe greatly exaggerate minor issues. Our home has welcomed more than 200 groups of guests over the past 10 years, and many have specifically commented on its charm, peaceful atmosphere, and excellent location. As is common in Costa Rica, you may occasionally see geckos or insects despite regular pest control, and these are part of the tropical environment. We take maintenance seriously and address any legitimate issues promptly. We encourage future guests to read our many other reviews to get a balanced picture of the experience we provide.

We enjoyed our stay in this private paradise. The beds were comfortable, the pool was warm, and it was close to restaurants and the beach. We used our car only a few times, as the location allowed us to walk along the beach to restaurants. We recommend this place!

Wonderful accommodations for two families with one boy each. We enjoyed walking to town (about 10-15 minutes), all of the food options & beaches! The house was ideal for the Costa Rican outdoor living experience and the pool perfect for an afternoon cool-off. We felt very secure and enjoyed watching the birds while we drank coffee every morning. We have loved our first trip to Costa Rica!

We loved our time at the Blue Iguana! We had an issue with one of the AC units and Didier was so quick to respond! The pool was amazing, beds so comfy, and a wonderful private setting.

Gem in Playa Langosta. The couple of critiques we had (mattresses were hard) are overshadowed by how beautiful this home is and the amazing location. It was perfect for us with separate groups of older adults. We would absolutely stay here again.

Very well located house near beaches. Nice pool. Great for three couples. Had some ants in our unit and the AC in the master bedroom didn't work correctly. Didier was good in responding quickly, but AC issue couldn't be fixed until we left.

I sent twice some technicians, who did not find any issues with the AC, and the next guests did not experience this problem, so it's kind of a mystery,

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 – Perfect Tamarindo Stay! We had an amazing stay! The location couldn’t be better — just a few minutes’ walk to the beach, Tamarindo nightlife, markets, and grocery stores. The property is in a secure, peaceful compound with three private villas and a common house, which made it perfect for our group of couples. The pool was beautiful and such a great place to relax after a day out. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, though the coffee maker could use an update (it took over an hour to brew a pot). A few boards on the deck were a little loose, but the host had a handyman there the next day — super responsive! A/C in every room kept us cool and comfortable, and having laundry on-site was a huge bonus. Overall, an excellent stay — we highly recommend this place!

This was an absolutely beautiful place to stay, we had a last minute change and Didier was able to accommodate us quickly. The house is beautiful. I loved the outdoor living spaces. The outdoor showers were such a nice touch after getting back from the beach and we loved how they connected to the bathrooms in each suite. The AC was nice and cold and each suite also has its own AC and bathroom. The location is beautiful and very close to everything you need. We just loved it and were so sad we didn't find this place earlier. Regarding some reviews about the bugs, just remember you're in the Jungle. There's no escaping bugs, you are in THEIR territory not the other way around. Luckily all we saw at the house was the ocasional ant. That was a very pleasant surprise, I don't even want to tell you what we've seen at other places.

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, spacious home in Langosta. We loved the layout of the villas surrounding the pristine pool. The outdoor space was very relaxing and lush. Didier was an excellent host who always communicated in a timely manner. We would highly recommend staying at the Blue Iguana.
