Thank you Dara! It was a pleasure to having you at our place. We hope you can come again :) See you soon!
We fell in love with this outdoor oasis! Although it wasn’t exactly what we thought it was initially. We enjoyed the iguanas and birds that wandered the yard. It was quiet and beautiful and our kids loved swimming in the pool. Judith answered all of our many many questions very quickly! All of Judith’s recommendations were amazing!
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Luis's place. The two gentlemen that are there when you arrive are very nice, helpful and respectful young men. The property is very cool in that it has a big yard, a nice but small pool and is very conveniently located near restaurants and a grocery store. We were disappointed that you can not access the beach unless by boat in the lagoon. There wasn't a boat available to us when we got there and it took a couple days of asking the host before we had a boat available to us. They said they had taken it away because of a crocodile spotted in the lagoon... Our biggest complaint and what we found it to be very deceiving, is that this is not a 4 bed, 4 bath house that is one building like we think of a 4 bed, 4 bath house to be. The "master" sits above the outdoor kitchen and outdoor livingroom. There are two cabins with 4 beds and 2 baths and a very small room that only children would really fit in that is separate as well. There is not a indoor kitchen or livingroom. Again, we found the listing to be very deceiving for this reason. We made the best of it but we were bummed we couldn't all be in one house together while on vacation. We ended up spending most of our time on the patio area, which is very nice.

Hi Parker! We are glad to hear that you and your two friends had a great time at our house :) However, we would like to clarify your review about the information and the description of the house, because it seems to be a clear misunderstanding. As you can see in all the other reviews, we have never had any tenant with any kind of problem or with an incorrect interpretation of the information of the ad. The fact that the house has a outdoor kitchen and outdoor social areas is one of the things that our customers love most and in fact it is one of the reasons why they come to Costa Rica, to be surrounded by nature. As we mentioned while you were at the house, of course you can enter the beach (not only with the boat) you just need to walk 150 meters and you access to the beach through a public road. About the inconvenience you have had about the rooms not being next to each other, if you look to the photos you can clearly see that the house is not a building, and two, of the four bedrooms, are separated from the social area so that the guests can have the privacy they need and, because in case they are a large group of people and some guest wants to rest while others are still in the social area, do not affect the noise. All the photos in our ad reflect exactly what our property is. At no time do outdoor areas appear to be inside areas. Rio Mar Beach house offers a unique experience surrounded by nature with a river next to the property that connects with the sea at just 50 meters away, on a property of 2000 square meters. Perfect to enjoy the sun and the wildlife of this wonderful area. We are very sorry that our property was not exactly what you were waiting for in this aspects, nor that you have communicated to us these discomforts, during the times we ask you if you needed anything during your stay. In the same way we were very pleased to be able to host you and your 2 friends and hope that one day you guys can return to Costa Rica again. Thank you so much!

this is a great place to stay with family. plenty of room. kids loved the pool and space to run around. fun outdoor space with a quick walk to the beach. there are many beautiful beaches within a quick drive from surfing to relaxing. quiet area, safe. definitely keeping this place in mind for future vacations.
This is a fun place to stay and our family group of seven had ample space. Good air conditioning and hot showers, very cozy and lots of outdoor space. The river provides atmosphere and iguanas visit occasionally. Great umbrella trees give pleasant shade. Lots of games, gear to use, including 2 bikes. 4 Min to beach, lovely for morning/eve walks and fine for swimming. My fave beach was north, 10 min drive, playa Danza/playa Danzita. Gracias!
This is a great house for families or large groups. A truly authentic Costa Rica beach vibe. The grounds are spacious and very well maintained. Lots of indigenous plants and beautiful creatures roaming around. Walking to the beach is easy but we really loved the short boat ride in the house-provided kayak and dingy down to the beach. Hot water and air conditioning in all the rooms. A van and driver were available for hire on-site to help with transport when needed. On-site folks also help with laundry and meals upon request. They were very accessible but not at all intrusive. We also rented a golf cart from Lazy Lizard just down the block which was great for quick trips to the 2 local grocery markets. Lazy Lizard can also book all your excursion tours. They were really a pleasure to work with. There are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance and others toward Playa Flamingo. We spent a great deal of time at the Costa Rica Sailing Center (within walking distance of the house by road or the beach). The Sailing Center has beach seating, a bar, restaurant, public swimming pool and full service beach toy rental stand. From boogie boards and snorkel gear to sail boats and catamarans - they have it all. For shops other than grocery we chartered the van for a day trip to Tamarindo full of cute boutiques. Be sure to visit Playa Conchal! Overall we had a great experience and are truly grateful to the owners and the caretakers for their support, referrals and truly wonderful hospitality.

The home was exactly what we wanted and needed for 2 families of 4 to enjoy a vacation in! It had all the amenities you would need and plenty of space to enjoy time together and have our own space. All the showers were just tempered water (no hot water) except the master suite bathroom. The shower head was and electric water heater so it was hot. We enjoyed the outdoor kitchen and just relaxing in the hammocks. The pool was nice to cool down in. Having the boats to get to the beach was awesome! The caretakers on site did a great job of cleaning up every morning. The dog was very friendly, however, it did enjoy taking a shoe or 2 if you left them unattended on the ground, so make sure you leave them in your room or pick them up. There are many restaurants within walking distance and even a grocery store. It was a very peaceful and safe area! We took many day trips, utilizing Adventours Costa Rica (http://www.adventours-costarica.com). They are a small company that picked us up every day at the house and we had private tours. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer! An amazing trip!
Great little spot close to the beach and restaurants. Quiet area in a small town. Rooms are spacious and pool and back yard perfect for the kids. No hot water, but we got used to it after a few days.
An excellent house for large groups, the gentleman is very attentive and has all the respective facilities in the photos. She was very happy with the stay regarding the location, very close to everything👌🏻
My friends and I had a wonderful stay at Casa RioMar. Kari's directions were spot on, we found the house without a hitch. And Elizabeth, who manages and lives next to the property was really helpful and even did some of our washing for us. The house is great! Very close to a lovely beach, a couple of mellow beach bars and the community here was very warm and welcoming. We would definitely stay here again and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a sunny, relaxed, beach holiday.

Thank you very much Sam, we were so happy to have you into our house! I hope you can come back soon!! Regards, Larissa.
I enjoyed the house very much. It has an expansive, beautiful back yard, with an outdoor grill and LOTS of seating and hammocks to enjoy the mornings and evenings. There is a large, secured parking lot. The pool was always clean. In addition to a very sweet dog, Eva, it also had resident iguanas (we named them Ike and Ike Jr), geckos, squirrels and birds, including a bright yellow one which amazed us all. The kitchen and living room, complete with a Sony TV, is outdoor, covered, and comes with a full sized refrigerator/freezer that worked well even on hot days. There were lots of appliances, dishes, glasses, pots/pans, silverware and such. It is a real Costa Rican house. As such, it doesn't have hot water in the bathrooms. The outside temperatures are warm day and night - and once you got used to the tepid water showers, they were ok! All but one of the 4 bedrooms have an "en suite". The 4th is a small bedroom with a bathroom shared with the kitchen/living room. All the bedrooms had their own a/c which worked well and were quiet. Rooms also had fans. The outdoor kitchen/living area also had a lot of fans which made for comfortable after dinner get-togethers. While there were several restaurants within walking distance, the key was to use the beach to find them. For breakfast we turned right and walked along the road until the boats and crossed over to the beach. (You can see and hear the ocean from the house, but you cannot get there directly.) From there we went another couple minutes down the beach to a "soda" family restaurant that you can't see from the main street. Great Costa Rican breakfast with coffee out on the sand. Beach House restaurant is even closer and great for dinner. If you go the other way, you'll come to a bar/sailing "school"-boat rental, and a more fancy resort. For $30US you can get an hour massage outside the resort walls on the beach, under shade trees. We did get a car which was great for getting groceries and checking into nearby Brasilia. We used a tour company for going to Palo Verde on a wildlife tour and for doing a "combo" tour of horseback riding, ziplining, mud baths, hot springs, cultural demos of sugar cane processing, coffee making and such. The tour company came to the house to pick us up and deliver us back, so if you like to walk, a car might not be necessary. We also used the tour company to pick us up from the airport, charging $80 for 3 of us. (Yellowfin tours, they are local to Playa Flamingo). When we left, we had to get up early. Even though it was 4:30am Howler Monkeys were serenading us good bye!! Lari provided restaurant recommendations and helped whenever necessary. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer.
We all loved the outdoor kitchen and spent much of our time enjoying the pool and the scenic view. It is a short walk to the beach but a car is necessary to get anywhere else. Everyone that I stayed with walked away very impressed and were pleased with the price that we paid. Would definitely recommend for anyone traveling with a big group (10-15) people and want a private/secluded experience.
