Our stay was great. Maggie was very welcoming upon our arrival and the other lady working reception was very nice and helped us book a tour! The space is very walkable to the beach and nearby restaurants and the local market! I would stay here again and would recommend. Felt very safe the whole stay

In the Shade is a great hotel. Just a quick walk away from downtown Tamarindo, the beach and local markets. The hotel itself is just off the main strip so it's quiet, and the pool is perfect after a hot day (or during).

Amazing location walking distance to everything. Pool is huge plus.

The minute I arrived Patrick was waiting at my taxi. They took my bag and led me to the back, past the pool to check in which was easy and welcoming. I was fortunate that my room was ready as it was earlier than check-in time. My room was clean and perfect and I felt safe as a female solo traveller. The small boutique hotel offers daily breakfast (I don’t eat breakfast but I did enjoy this fruit bowl which lasted me 3 days. I had a mini fridge in my room which i stored in there. I enjoyed coffee in the am by the lounge chairs which was complimentary. I went to surf and was provided with some great tips on how to prepare which I appreciated. The day I left Maggie who is from France and runs the place (so friendly and helpful) suggested I take a breakfast burrito and I can’t tell you how she saved me. Long line ups at airport and hot. Just made my flight and was starved. I would not hesitate to stay here again. I absolutely loved Tamarindo, the vibe and weather were perfect. Gracias

I'll start with the room, which was amazing and comfortable. Everything was clean and every time we asked for cleaning, they cleaned and tidied. It was really perfect in every way. The service was excellent. The breakfast meals were excellent. The most outstanding thing was the amazing staff at the hotel. They were so kind and pleasant, everything we wanted and asked for straight away without hesitation. Really amazing. The manager was also amazing with his dog Wyatt, who we immediately fell in love with when we saw him. There is a procedure at the hotel every Thursday night, they have a small and pleasant party, the hotel brings food and drinks to everyone in the hotel, they sit together and get to know each other Perfect idea!! And the hotel itself is crazy stylish, everything is designed and pleasant, the pool is pleasant and fun, really makes a good atmosphere and we will of course go back there

A easy going place to be. It’s right in the center of everything but literally in its own secluded area. Walkable to bars, beach and restaurants . Five minute walk to the beach . Great customer service and the receptionist helped us with transportation to guanacaste. Good food on-site to the in the shade cafe for breakfast and lunch. We will be returning . Great place for the right price .

I had a really great stay here! The hosts were very friendly and always made us feel welcome. They kept us informed about different events happening in the area, and even hosted a fun Thursday social for everyone at the Airbnb — such a great touch. My room was perfect for 10days: clean, comfortable, and exactly what I needed. The kitchenette was super handy and made it easy to cook meals during our stay. The property had everything you could need, including a cute little café right on-site. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely recommend this Airbnb to anyone visiting Costa Rica!

I had a wonderful two-night stay in Tamarindo! I ran into an issue with a previous booking, and I was so lucky that Patrick was so responsive and able to accommodate me on short notice. The space was very clean and beautiful, with an outstanding pool. The staff were friendly, and the location is perfect—walking distance to everything, which made it so convenient. Patrick is truly an incredible host. Highly recommend!

Sandra was great host, she recommended great food options, was super helpful, nice and even got me some brownies and a candle to celebrate my birthday!

Highly recommend this place. They were incredibly hospitable, helping me with my airport transfer and setting up a good cart rental. The food at the restaurant is good and the location is perfect, a short walk to everything in town. Will stay here again.

Superbly located, you can walk everywhere and many bars in the immediate vicinity. The hotel is still quiet and the pool is very practical and clean. Overall a great stay!

Patrick and his team were very helpful, responsive and friendly. Always offering food recommendations, free activities as well as great excursions and local events. Their knowledge and information on the local environment and animals were also very interesting and helpful. My wife and I I had a great time and shared some great memories mostly due to Patrick, Maggie, and Sandra. Great co working area as well for people who need to stay connected to work while having some personal time.

We have never been to Costa Rica before. We found this place on air B + B with great ratings and decided to try it. 5 star review all around. Clean , convenient 3 minute walk to the beach. Centrally located in the city centre but just off the heavy traffic road in a quiet area. Patrick and his staff helped us book a local tour with ease. We can’t wait to go back next year .

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! First of all, this place looks EVEN BETTER in real life than the pictures. Check in was smooth with the clear instructions I received, and my room was super spacious and clean. One thing you should know is that this is not just an airbnb, it’s a boutique hotel! So you can buy a really lovely breakfast and our amazing hostess also gave me complementary breakfast and smoothie shot which I enjoyed by the pool. The location is PERFECT, walkable to the main road in Tamarindo. Don’t hesitate to book this gem!!

Oasis of peace, yet a few steps from the lively heart of Tamarindo and its beach. The place is clean and bright. We enjoyed being able to have a delicious coffee and breakfast on our balcony. Special mention for the attentive service. Impeccable!

Safe, clean and cozy space. The pool is amazing. Sandra was a great host. Greeted us at the gate and showed us to our room. It’s basically a small bedroom and a bathroom. Smaller than expected. Great location, steps from downtown.

Felt like a boutique hotel that catered toward folks that work remotely. Staff was friendly, had onsite food and resources, gave great recommendations, A/C was great, etc. Location was stellar, just a few minutes from the beach and super close to Oveja which was a vibe and had live music multiple days a week. Hosted a guest happy hour so we could all get out of our comfort zone and mingle. Met some really cool folks from England, California, and Switzerland.

Excellent place to stay in Tamarindo. Patrick was a great host and the pool was well-kept and beautiful. Try to stay on a Thursday if you can, because the Thursday social was a great way to meet other guests with complementary sangria and local foods. Everything looked like the pictures—highly recommend!

I can’t say enough about how happy I was at Patrick’s Airbnb. Looked 100% like the pictures…impeccable. Fantastic co-working space. The staff was extremely helpful in setting up activities, giving directions and any other requests I had. I will be coming back. Highly recommended.

Nice and clean bed and bathroom. Convenient location with the beach and many restaurants near by. Nice pool and community area. Rooms are rather small but has a large TV. mini fridge but no microwave.

Patrick and Maggie were extremely helpful and friendly from the very beginning. They and their staff helped us book excursions and find the best places to eat and visit. They even booked us the perfect space to watch the sunset. It was our 10 year anniversary and they also upgraded our room for free. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay here. Plus, the Thursday night social was a hit and the location is very easy to reach the rest of Tamarindo. You will not regret staying here!!

I absolutely loved this place and the location. Pool right outside of the rooms, delicious breakfast available to purchase. Staff were extremely helpful, showed all the local spots on the map, got me scheduled in for my first ever surf experience. Restaurants are super close, downtown is a few minutes walk. A great spot named Wild Panda.. aka suck my cocktails. Great folks and the quesadilla is what you want to get plus their hot sauce. Coming back here for sure.

Our stay at In the Shade was amazing. The pool was relaxing and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. Would return to Tamarindo, and when we do, we will stay at in the Shade again!

Patrick and staff made us feel right at home. I sadly had a lot of work to do but honestly this was the perfect place to do that with the 24/7 coworking space. The food and bev located on premises and coffee hot and available by 7am. Couldn’t have asked for a better situation. Everyone was super friendly and helpful but also gave us our privacy. Will def come back ❤️ also Patrick reached out prior to arrival to ensure we had all the help we needed.

We loved our stay in Tamarindo! It was perfectly tucked away in a quieter street so you didn't hear any road traffic. As you walk out, there are lots of restaurants, cafes, bars, and supermarkets and it was a very close walk to the beach. The hotel was clean and extremely well maintained. The pool was beautiful and the perfect place to relax at anytime of the day! The wifi speed and co-work space was great for remote work our entire stay. The owners were lovely and gave lots of good recommendations, including walking us to the night market on Thursdays. All the hotel employees were welcoming, professional, and kind. They helped us with recommendations, booking tours, transportation, and restaurant reservations. Highly recommend this place for your stay in Tamarindo. 😊

Great location, nice pool, convenient in-house cafe. The room is essentially just a room big enough for the bed, but it was fine for the 1 night we stayed.

Nice co-working space with fast wifi and a good cafe. The rooms have everything you need, but only have a refrigerator which was fine because we did not plan on cooking or warming things up during our stay. Close to all of the restaurants and beach but far enough away that it seems more quite. They provide you with pool towels and beach towels so you don’t need to travels with those. The staff was friendly and very accommodating.

The hotel far exceeded my expectations. The convenience to the town center, beach, and restaurants cannot be overstated. The breakfast and lunch at the hotel are outstanding. The Garden Cafe should be on your list. I would highly recommend this location as it is located on a peaceful, quiet street free of city noise and loud music after hours. The location hit all my requirements for this trip: friendly staff, clean, walk ability, and great food.

We had a wonderful week at "In the Shade Hotel". Owner Patrick and Michele were fantastic hosts as the entire staff made us feel right at home during our stay. The location is perfect, walking distance to all that Tamarindo has to offer. During a week when the winds made the beach time a bit challenging, the pool at the hotel was a welcome alternative. We highly recommend the property and will look forward to a returning soon.

I can’t say enough great things not only about this rental but also about Patrick, his wife and the staff. The location was perfect walking distance from the beach and all restaurants. The place was exactly what you needed and the pool area and amenities were perfect. Coffee and breakfast in the morning beside the pool was a dream. Couldn’t recommend this place enough - will rent again and would recommend to any friends heading to Tamarindo.

Really cute spot. We enjoyed hanging by the pool and the food at the hotel was really tasty and always fresh. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the internet speed was ideal for remote work. Definitely would come back to stay here!

We had a great time in Tamarindo. Patrick’s hotel was all we needed - a clean room, outdoor pool, coworking space & cafe serving breakfast/lunch, coffee & smoothies. Maggie and Mazik were super helpful and attentive - arranged our shuttle from/to the airport & helped with dinner reservations. The place is a few minutes away from the beach and all the shops & restaurants. Right next to the farmer’s market (happens on Saturdays) and Dragonfy Bar & Grill (really tasty food!). Couldn’t ask for a better location.
