Guest Experience
One guest shared their experience:
“Our week at Villa del Faro Baja was wonderful. We had 12 family members stay at the villa and hosted 4 more for dinner each night. The caretaker’s wife and a friend prepared dinner for us on the first night, which was a thoughtful suggestion from the owner. The caretaker, Armondo, was attentive and ensured everything ran smoothly. The owner was easy to communicate with, and everyone enjoyed their stay. I would recommend this villa for a relaxing week.”
Another guest highlighted the family-friendly atmosphere:
David’s property is perfect for families of all ages. We held a cousins’ reunion during Christmas week at the villa. The home is the work of a master builder who thoughtfully designed the layout and incorporated renewable energy. As parents of young children, we appreciated details like 5-gallon drinking water dispensers, dish and laundry soaps, paper towels, and toilet paper available throughout the property.
David was onsite during our stay to ensure everything functioned properly while respecting our privacy. The villa accommodated a large group ranging from 18 months to 70 years old. Everyone enjoyed privacy and quality family time. We highly recommend having dinner catered by David’s staff on the first night. Hot food and a ready hot tub awaited us upon arrival. The groundskeeper also arranged fishing charters.
We prefer quiet farm communities over resorts, and this location provided the ideal beach vacation. The villa is surrounded by basil and cherry tomato farms, offering a quaint yet comfortable setting. The kids loved the beach and found the drive over the hills an adventure. We enjoyed most meals at the outdoor bar, pool, and kitchen area. We plan to recommend this property to friends and look forward to returning with family and friends. We rated it five stars because it exceeded all our expectations.
Additional Notes
One guest stayed for six days with their wife and 20-year-old daughter and described it as one of their best vacations in a long time. The owner, David Raitt, went above and beyond to make them feel welcome. Unlike many places, the furnishings, pool, buildings, and rooms were exactly as pictured. The buildings, all constructed by David himself, showcase his pride and professionalism.
This was the guest’s first visit to southern Baja. They found the locals friendly and welcoming. A sizable expatriate community means good coffee is available. Although the guest speaks fluent Spanish, many locals speak English, even more so than on the Mexican mainland.
The villa’s architecture reflects a distinct Mexican style that is both attractive and functional. The hot tub was warm, and the pool refreshing. They attended a Wednesday afternoon volleyball and music party, which was very enjoyable.
The only downside mentioned was the surf conditions. Although there are two good surf breaks within a few miles, the waves were small during their stay. The day after they left, the surf improved significantly. Of course, the villa cannot control the surf, but if it could, David would have ensured perfect six-foot waves with offshore breezes every day.
During the stay, a whale was spotted cruising by on its annual migration north to Alaska. The villa is just a few blocks from a beautiful beach, making it an excellent location for nature lovers.
Overall, the guest gave Villa del Faro and the owner the highest praise.

This house is great if you want privacy & to spend your time at the house. There is plenty to do at the house with the pool, bocce ball, pool table, darts, ping pong and more. I highly recommend a rental car to get to restaurants and grocery stores as theyre a 10+ min drive on a dusty road. The walk to the beach (where you can see whales!) is only 3min away. The home has comfortable beds. The home is in need of repair and did not have all amenities available or in working order (hair dryer, washer/dryer, AC units). The property manager Delfina works another job and was often unavailable or "forgot" her phone. David was more responsive via the Airbnb app. The house also has a cockroach problem but not surprising given the rural location. This home has a lot of potential to be a great spot with some work but it's priced much lower than homes in the area - the price reflects the quality. David told us he plans to make repairs, they just didnt happen while we were at the home.

We stayed at Vila del Faro with 6 adults and 4 kids aged 18 mos to 15 years. Plenty of room for all to come together or have some privacy. We loved the abundance of outdoor play options on the property - pool, hot tub, ping pong, bocce ball, volleyball, trampoline, beautiful vegetation, hammocks for reading, etc. A beach for walks is less than 1/4 mile away, and Cerritos beach is a longer walk or 5ish minute drive. Be sure to grab tacos and margaritas at Barracuda after catching your waves! Comments below are only for awareness if you have not travelled to Baja before: - The roads are rough and unmarked. You'll need a vehicle with good clearance but not 4wd. Try to arrive during the day (we got super lost in the dark). The coordinates in the listing are not accurate, so follow David's directions. - water and propane are limited, so be thoughtful & prioritize. We opted not to heat the pool, so little ones found it quite cold. Hot tub heats fast & stays warm for a long while.

We celebrated my husband’s 50th birthday at the Villa del Faro with a few of our friends. It was a perfect gathering place to host us all in the same location. The pool slide is all time! Plenty of fridges to keep our drinks cold and ample space to relax and enjoy. Beautiful views and sunsets. Amazing property management and staff - very helpful and good recommendations. Lovely beach a short stroll away and fantastic bocce court! Thank you!

We had a great stay at Villa Del Faro! It’s in a great location to explore Pescadero, Cerritos, and Todos Santos. It has lots of space and room for folks to hang out in different areas of the villa. The pool is awesome and we had a lot of fun swimming and using the slide. The dirt road to get to the house is pretty bumpy and pothole-y but not bad. We had a minivan and sufficed just fine, just be sure to take it slow. A couple things just to note is it is in a more secluded desert type area and from what I understand the neighborhood shares water so there was one day where the water ran out (so no showers, sinks or toilets were functional) but it got filled the next morning. Overall, it was a great stay and place to spend time in Mexico with our friends!

We had a great stay. We had 12 of us with a mix of kids and adults and the place was great for our group. There are plenty of things to do on site like bocce ball, horseshoes, ping pong, billiards, and a very fun swimming pool. The rooms were spread out enough to offer privacy. And you could hear the waves crashing as you slept at night. David and his caretaker were both great to deal with as well. We will look to stay here if we are back with a big group.

We brought a family of 10 for a surf trip. This was a great place. Everyone had a private space. The host provided a lot of the beach gear we needed for the young ones (umbrellas, chairs, towels, cooler). The pool, the hot tub, and the waterslide were a big hit. The host was very gracious and talked us through everything we needed to know. Indoor and outdoor kitchen. Indoor and outdoor shower. We appreciated both!

We were beyond thrilled with our stay here. We had 7 adults and 5 kids and had plenty of space. The activities were endless- pool, ping pong, darts, pool, bocce, horseshoes, hot tub...and there was even a little fort in the backyard. The beach, although not a great swimming one, was right around the corner. The area is great with good food and beaches nearby. Not listed but present during our stay- little potty seat for kids, beach chairs, kid lifejackets, coolers, and beach umbrellas. All of these were a great bonus!

We stayed at Villa del Faro for seven days over Christmas 2022 & absolutely enjoyed our time there. I made a video tour of the property, but can't post the link here so search YouTube for "Villa del Faro Video Tour". The property has the old Baja feel to it. When you walk though the front gate, you immediately feel it with the lush green plants & plenty of shade. Very relaxing space at the pool & the outdoor kitchen. We cooked & only used the outdoor kitchen & the nearby outdoor dining table. There are six bedrooms but only showers in two of the rooms. The other four bedrooms happily used the outdoor shower “room” that is by the swimming pool. Driving in to town to one of the mercados or Baja Beans is a quick easy trip. Villa del Faro was calming, peaceful and quintessential Baja. I was the most relaxed I’ve been in years & years, happily living on Baja Time. I’ve been going to Baja for over 40+ years & nothing has touched my soul as much as this home has. A treasured find!
