The Space
The Majestic Lodge Private Resort is a favorite among guests visiting La Fortuna. It offers an authentic Costa Rican atmosphere and is one of the few homes in the area spacious enough to host groups of up to 30 people.
Each of the 10 bedrooms features high-quality mattresses and linens, air conditioning units, and a private bathroom. Guests appreciate the complimentary breakfasts prepared by our caretakers, as well as the outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi.
La Fortuna is a unique destination surrounded by the natural beauty of the Costa Rican rainforest. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities such as hiking the volcano, relaxing in hot springs, spotting sloths on nature walks, and observing toucans and monkeys while zip lining 400 feet above the ground. This variety of experiences makes La Fortuna incomparable to other places.
The Majestic Lodge is more than just a large vacation rental. With 10 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, it accommodates up to 32 guests—more than any other rental in the area. What sets it apart is the ability to provide a five-star resort experience within a comfortable home setting, allowing everyone to stay together under one roof. This makes it an ideal choice for large groups, retreats, family reunions, anniversary celebrations, or multi-family vacations.
Vacation Packages
Planning a vacation for a large group can be stressful. To make your stay more enjoyable, we offer several packages designed to help you relax and make the most of your time in Costa Rica.
Breakfast
Each morning, our staff prepares delicious complimentary breakfasts as a thank you for choosing The Majestic Lodge.
Meal Package
Dining in La Fortuna can be costly, with breakfasts typically ranging from $12 to $15 per person and lunch or dinner costing between $15 and $30 per person, including food and drinks. For groups of 20, breakfast expenses can reach $240 to $300, while lunch or dinner may cost between $400 and $600.
Our upgraded meal package includes both lunch and dinner for $30 per person (ages 5 and older) per day. Guests who opt for this package generally save 25-35% on their overall food expenses during their stay. Please let us know if you would like to add this package when booking or inquiring.
Transportation Package
After a long journey, waiting in line at a car rental agency can be frustrating. Avoid this hassle by allowing us to greet you at the airport and transport you directly to The Majestic Lodge. We can also make stops at local restaurants or stores along the way.
Taxi fares from Liberia (LIR) and San Jose (SJO) airports to La Fortuna typically cost:
- $350 for up to 8 passengers
- $400 for 8 to 10 passengers
- $550 for 10 to 18 passengers
- $800 for 18 to 30 passengers
Larger vehicles may require more travel time. Feel free to request stops at local "sodas" (small restaurants) or "pulperías" (minimarkets) for food or snacks.
We offer 12-passenger and 15-passenger vans for rent to explore the area and attend excursions. The average rental cost, including fees and insurance, is about $260 per day. Our guests can rent these vehicles for $150 per day.
Presidential Package
For guests seeking an all-inclusive experience, the presidential package combines the meal and transportation packages with additional services:

This comprehensive package costs the same as the booking fee and can be paid approximately 30 days before arrival.
Amenities
For guests who prefer to cook, The Majestic Lodge features a fully equipped kitchen stocked with everything needed to prepare meals. Outside, there is a spacious deck with a BBQ grill for outdoor cooking.
The swimming pool and Jacuzzi are conveniently located near the dining area and offer beautiful views of the volcano and surrounding rainforest.
Our caretakers are highly praised by guests and are considered one of the best amenities we offer.
Location
The lodge is situated on the west side of Arenal Volcano, on the south side of Lake Arenal, in the community of El Castillo. It is approximately 2.5 hours from Liberia Airport (LIR) and 3 hours from San Jose Airport (SJO). The property is near the boat entrance to Lake Arenal and close to several local restaurants.

Booking Information
Booking the Entire Property vs. Booking by Room
Most reservations are made months in advance by large groups of 10 or more. When a large group books the entire property, it is exclusively reserved for that group, and no other guests can book during that time, even if some rooms remain unused.
If the property is not fully booked by a large group and vacancies exist within 30 days of the desired dates, individual rooms may become available. Since Airbnb does not support this option directly, we list the property at a 90% reduced price to attract smaller groups.
Room rates range from $80 to $160 per night, plus cleaning and Airbnb fees. If you are interested in booking rooms within 30 days, please contact us with your group size and number of rooms needed. We will provide a custom quote.
Additional Charges
There is an extra fee of $20 per guest per day for any guests aged 5 or older beyond 16 when renting the entire property.
If you see prices around $100 without fees on this listing, that rate applies to individual rooms, not the entire property. Please reach out to inquire about room availability.
Guest Access
Guests who book the full property have access to all 10 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, the pool, Jacuzzi, and the weight room located at the back of the lodge.

Betto and the team made our group of 11 feel right at home. We opted for the meal package and enjoyed excellent home cooked meals. They answered our questions, helped us with transportation, and provided recommendations. The Majestic Lodge comfortably fit our group and was just as lovely as the pictures. I highly recommend for a large group visiting La Fortuna

This place was perfect for our family of 8 adults and 8 small children. The veranda and pool area were outstanding. We highly recommend this place and please take advantage of the chef service. The home is a little out of the way for the LaFortuna activites we chose, but the home was so wonderful, it made the extra drive worth it.

Majestic Lodge was a wonderful place for us to stay - large group of college friends, spouses, adult children, and grandchildren. The resort staff was very helpful and attentive in ensuring that we had a great time - Betto and Karen on logistics, Cesar and others in the kitchen, Maria and others on the cleaning crew. Meal service was excellent, flexible and cost-effective. They were willing to come in super early on days when we had early outings. Strongly recommend signing up for meals. Makes a huge difference to be able to focus on touristing and not spend the whole vacation on food shopping, meal planning, cooking and cleaning up. The lodge has a hot tub and small swimming pool that we enjoyed, a large covered deck where we ate all our meals, and views of both the lake and the volcano. Highly recommend the Lodge, relaxing and enjoyable vacation. We went on multiple outings with “Birding and Nature Fortuna” great operation. Bring rain gear, it’s the rainforest so can rain.

If I could I’d give Shilo and the Majestic Lodge 10 stars. The home is in a beautiful tropical area with a view of the Arenal volcano. Our family of 22 purchased the Presidential Package which provided us with two wonderful cooks/housekeepers and transportation to and from the airport in San Jose. Shilo helped line up activities: zip lining, treks through the jungle and soaks in the thermal springs. Meals were fantastic. We were given 2 roomy vans to use for transportation. The best part of our stay was the hospitality and care we received from our hosts, especially Beto and Karen. They were instantly responsive when we had questions or requests. When we mentioned we loved karaoke, they rented a set for us. The best example of Beto’s responsiveness was on the day we left for home. Wires had fallen across the main road out. Beto led our bus to the the blockage. He leaped up on the roof of his vehicle, and held the wires up high enough for our bus to get through. He is amazing!

We absolutely loved our stay at the majestic. Our family group of 13 had plenty had plenty of room with rooms to spare. Beto and his family are wonderful and helped us with our plans , excursions and last minute dinner plans. We awoke to fresh coffee and lovely meals prepared by Maria daily. Wish for it at the Majestic and Beto and his family will supply. The family enjoyed nights in the jacuzzi and playing board games on the deck! Most of what made this trip great came directly from the host, cohost and their management team — Beto and his wife Lady. They handled almost everything during my stay, and they did it with real consistency. They responded fast before, during, and even after the trip, which made planning and troubleshooting effortless. Breakfast every morning wasn’t just a routine — they prepared it with care and made sure it was ready when expected. Their guidance around the area was practical, specific, and actually useful, not the usual tourist pamphlet suggestions. Any time something came up, they stepped in immediately and handled it without excuses. They’re the reason the experience felt smooth, supported, and well-run.

We hosted a women’s retreat for 4 nights at the Majestic Lodge, and space, the scenery, and the family on site we worked with were all the highlights of our trip! It is about 40 minutes from Fortuna center, there are a couple of stores/restaurants in walking distance, but not too much. We did have a few few meals cooked by Doña Mari- and there were incredible, highly recommend. Jose and Lady were so attentive during our stay and did everything they could to coordinate transportation, massages, and help with luggage. They made our stay wonderful. I may stay here again-although not as a retreat host- not a communicative vendor. When trying to coordinate meals and transportation prior to the trip the hosts were all non-responsive. We ended up making it work, but honestly I felt they only pushed things that would make them more money rather than genuinely being helpful. I.e. renting the van through them is significantly more expensive than with Alamo. That soured my experience.

The Majestic Lodge is fantastic! It was the perfect choice for our party that needed six bedrooms. While we were only 11 adult guests, it seemed just the right size for us. Yes there are plenty of additional beds for larger parties. The lodge is in a sparsely populated area with beautiful views of lake Arenal and the volcano and is walking distance to a very good restaurant. The beds were very comfortable, the deck is amazing and the pool and hot tub were very enjoyable. Jose, our on-site host, was super helpful and super friendly. At our request, he arranged to have a meal prepared for us on the deck, which was delicious and very reasonably priced. This included birthday cakes also at our request. The breakfasts were always ready and tasty as well. Jose even went as far as getting us all laundry baskets so he could arrange to have that done for us. If you have a need, just ask, and he will get it for you. You won’t be disappointed with the Majestic Lodge!
