Upon arrival, you will be greeted by stunning gardens and an infinity pool overlooking the lake. This private residence is one of the few on Ometepe to feature a pool, surrounded by a mature garden filled with fruit trees bearing mangoes and coconuts, fragrant herbs, and vibrant flowers.

The property is located within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, bringing wildlife right to your doorstep. You may spot the distinctive Yellow-naped Parrots, locally known as Lora Nuca Amarilla, flying overhead. Howler monkeys often visit the mango trees during the fruiting season, and cows, pigs, chickens, and turkeys can be seen wandering nearby.

Relax in a hammock or on wooden rocking chairs on the outdoor patio. The infinity pool is accessible directly from the front porch and includes two shallow sections of varying depths, ideal for sunbathing or children’s play. A bench in the deeper end offers a perfect spot to enjoy breathtaking sunsets over the lake.

Inside, the house offers a luxurious tropical oasis with a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience created by opening the front double doors. The spacious open-plan living area features bright white walls adorned with tropical bird-themed artwork.

The fully equipped kitchen includes new stainless steel appliances such as a refrigerator with freezer, a six-burner stove with oven, and a microwave. You will find everything needed to prepare meals using fresh tropical ingredients. The unique dining table, crafted from a live edge wood slab, comfortably seats six and is one of several special Nicaraguan handicrafts throughout the home.

The living room prioritizes comfort with a sofa set and a pull-out sofa, ensuring ample seating for everyone. On quiet evenings or rainy days, enjoy movies on the Smart TV or browse local cable channels. The house is equipped with 20 Mbps fiber optic internet and a battery backup, allowing uninterrupted work or entertainment online.

The master bedroom is located on the ground floor and includes a queen bed and a full-size wardrobe. This room is slightly larger than the second bedroom and features both air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Screened windows allow you to enjoy breezy nights with fresh lake air and jungle sounds, enabling restful sleep without air conditioning.

Upstairs, accessed via a distinctive iron spiral staircase, the loft room contains another queen bed and bunk beds. Although this room is not air-conditioned, the entire outer wall is a screened door that opens to an upper deck. This deck is ideal for sunrise yoga or relaxing in a hammock in the evening after a day of activities.

The bathroom is located on the first floor and has been recently retiled with traditional ceramic tiles. It features an adjustable hot water shower. Additionally, there is a second outdoor shower, perfect for rinsing off after swimming or hiking.

Location

The house is situated on a paved road just 1.5 kilometers from Balgue, a small local town. Balgue offers the trailhead for hiking the Maderas volcano and a natural spring for swimming. Numerous restaurants and small stores are nearby, providing options for dining out or cooking at home.

While some attractions are within walking distance, Ometepe is a large island, and taxi services can be costly. For broader exploration, it is recommended to bring your own vehicle or rent one during your stay. Assistance with organizing tours or transportation is available upon request.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the house, pool, and entire property. Daytime staff maintain the pool, gardens, and house. If you prefer increased privacy during your stay, please inform us in advance.

Other Things to Note

Ometepe is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with diverse wildlife, including many insects. While most insects are harmless, some may bite or sting. The house is screened to minimize insect entry, but some may still get inside. It is advisable to close doors around sunset and avoid eating on the sofas to prevent attracting ants.
