Opened in May 2005, La Orquidea is nestled in the crater along the shores of Laguna de Apoyo. Designed as a home away from home, it includes:

Surroundings and Activities
The peaceful environment is home to countless migratory and indigenous birds. During your stay, you can relax, soak up the sun, enjoy a two-hour hammock ride to nowhere, or hike through the crater where the house is located.

La Orquídea was a breathtaking! It will be a must when we return. Michael was a great host to communicate with and was super helpful with our last minute plans for dates. Ana the caretaker and her dog Bruno were such great support while we were there , always helpful and available . The style of the rooms, kitchen and views were great. We swam and kayaked in the lake everyday (sometimes twice !) highly recommend this , we got to see monkeys, bats and beautiful birds right from our hammocks while we took in the sunset .

We really enjoyed our stay at La Orquidea with our 3 young kids. The house is just beautiful, felt like waking up in paradise! We loved that we were close enough from the hotels and restaurants so we could go enjoy a nice meal or day pass but come back to the calm afterward. The view from the house is awesome with a private acces to the laguna! Its really humid so the air conditionning in both rooms are perfect. The kitchen is fully equiped to cook. The house manager Ana lives on site with Bruno the dog and they are both the sweetest, she was so nice and patient with the kids, they loved to get out of the house to see her. I definitly recommand this place.

Great value. A lovely home set fairly far back from the lake. The home furnishings are older and could use some updating, but the price is very fair. The caretaker was wonderful and extra helpful. She brought a table and hammock’s closer to the lake so we could hand out near the lake. We loved their sweet guard dog.

Nous recommandons cette superbe maison proche de la Laguna de Apoyo, accès privé à la plage (partagé avec une autre maison). Accès en 4x4 ou SUV un peu haut (mais on doit pouvoir rester garé en haut du chemin). Il y a 1 chambre double avec douche , 1 chambre triple avec douche et wc privatifs et une chambre simple. Des wc accessibles depuis la cuisine extérieure. De l’eau chaude dans les douches, et des ustensiles de cuisine en bon état !

Great location, great host, great caretakers. Right on the lake with access. Lovely all around and at a reasonable price! Be a bit careful as the last 100M of the road down “should” require a 4x4 as the road is fairly beat up. Just make sure whatever your driver has suspension/doesn’t sit too low, you’ll be fine!

This is a really lovely place nestled right on the lake. It’s super peaceful with loads of outdoor space to just appreciate the surroundings. It’s also walkable to all the local hotels / restaurants who offer a “day pass” should you want to go somewhere with a bit of atmosphere, drinks, food etc. The rooms were spacious and clean and the outdoor kitchen area was just perfect. The couple who manage the property couldn’t have been sweeter and were so helpful. I highly recommend taking the kayaks out before suns rise and sitting on the lake to watch the sun come up.

El lugar es hermoso y tranquilo, muy cerca de la laguna. La casa con su estilo espectacular está muy bien equipada. Ana muy atenta y servicial. Nos encantó.
