Another perfect stay at Villa La Estancia! This was my 5th time at Villa La Estancia, although my first visit to this particular condo managed by Humberto and his team. I will always return to this resort. It’s so easy and perfect that i see no need to look elsewhere for my stays in Cabo. Do not hesitate to book at Estancia, and in particular at this property. The check-in process and service is the same no matter which unit you rent. And I’ve always found it to be fantastic. Arrange transport beforehand through Humberto (or on your own) and ask them to stop at Walmart or Costco for groceries. There is a small store on the premises but the prices are steep and the selection is limited. Don’t forget to buy your own water. The bellboys not only take your bags to the room, they also unpack your groceries/drinks and put them in the refrigerator or pantry. Humberto’s colleague was there when we checked in to serve us a beer and fresh guacamole. I later emailed him for restaurant recommendations and he replied right away. The unit was spotless like the others I’ve rented, and very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. This rental comes with every day maid service, but many only have every other day service and that’s plenty for me. The cleaner was great but she did our towels every day which I thought was excessive. The last full day I declined service. The view is amazing. The pool is also beautiful, but you have to get down there early at busy times of the year to reserve chairs. You can get drinks or bar food beside/at the pool but it’s way overpriced. We brought our own drinks down to the pool. When you need a cab to downtown the bell boy will call one and it will appear within a minute. It costs $9 USD from Estancia to downtown centro. Usually $10 on the way back. I would skip the restaurants at the sister resorts and go downtown for delicious meals. On other trips I booked services at the spa next door (Villa Del Argo) but not this time. We needed Covid tests to get back to the U.S. and they have them right on the premises so you don’t have to go anywhere to be tested. Our antigen test cost $25 and results were back in less than 12 hours. (One side thing - my husband and I have been Covid tested MANY times in several different countries, and this was the worst/most uncomfortable we’ve both never had. It was unnecessarily painful. My husband is a physician and the swab just doesn’t have to go that far up to get an accurate sample. It was brutal.)

I’m a well traveled 30-something from Los Angeles and I frequent Cabo luxury hotels… but was looking for much more affordable accommodations for a girl’s trip. This spot fit the bill and checked all the boxes. (If you're a detailed person like me and appreciate a comprehensive review, here ya go :) --PROS-- AMAZING VIEW: Can’t beat the oceanfront view from the balcony (which is bigger than it appears in photos). SPACIOUS & COMFORTABLE: This 2 bedroom unit is SO spacious. Great for our group of 4, but I’d feel comfortable hanging with 8. GREAT BEDS: We all commented on how comfortable the beds were! We slept amazing; but make sure you tinker with the AC in order to turn the fan speed down. Only after a couple nights of loud fan noise did we figure out how to make it *a bit* quieter. QUIET UNIT: The unit keeps noise out so well! We never heard neighbors or anyone nearby. We didn't even notice landscapers outside (with blowers and lawn mowers one morning) until we opened the sliding door. PERFECT KITCHEN: Well stocked kitchen; had everything we needed. SWIMABLE BEACH: A lot of Cabo hotels have beaches that aren’t swimmable, but this one was. I’d suggest packing a floaty/inflatable, for floating in the beach or pool (they’re allowed), or they have people walking up and down the beach selling them. We were able to grab some rogue inflatables at the pool, left by other guests. WALKABLE BEACH: You can walk along the beach (albeit hot and muggy) to get to some cute nearby restaurants (we LOVED Sur Beach House for breakfast/brunch; about a 15min walk)… and could even walk to the marina in about 30min. But, be prepared to sweat! COVID SAFE: We felt safer than expected on property with Covid protocols and social distancing. All staff was masked, hand sanitizer and additional masks were provided in lobby, and when we arrived the reception desk booked us a Covid test (on property) which we needed for returning to Los Angeles. Cost is $25 and is done on property. --CONS-- ***NOTE*** most of these complaints are reflective of the HOTEL property and not something the AirBnB owner can control, but are worth mentioning as you plan your trip and know what to expect on property. BAD FOOD: We were very unimpressed with the two restaurants/food on property. I usually eat some of the best seafood in Cabo, but the fish dishes here were pretty bad, fishy, poorly cooked, lacked flavor (if you’re a quesadilla, burger and nachos kind of person then you’ll probably be fine). Keep in mind that’s coming from a group of ladies who all cook, regularly eat at great restaurants and are foodies. So, maybe if you’re a fast food and diner eater, you’ll be fine with the quality of food. But for us, after ONE arrival lunch at the pool restaurant we never ate on property again and proceeded to make our meals and/or pop out to some of the EXCELLENT nearby restaurants which did not disappoint. NO DRINKING WATER: This is the first Cabo hotel I've personally stayed at that didn't provide clean/safe water in jugs by the pool or water bottles in room. I was surprised to find that we couldn’t drink in the water in the unit (not even from the refrigerator) and that no water was provided on property anywhere. This meant we had to purchase all our own bottled water, and pay for water at the restaurant, and buy more bottled water in order to fill up the ice cube trays (thankfully the trays are provided) and even to brush our teeth with. WIFI: In the room the WiFi was sufficient for emails, messaging and normal social media, but if you were trying to do work that required uploading/downloading it was iffy… and pool WiFi was spotty depending on where you were seated. UBER / TAXIS: I was shocked to find out that the hotel doesn’t allow Uber to pick you up in front of the building/front the lobby… which means you have to take a short walk, down some stairs to wait around by a guard gate, which is awkward when you have a group of attractive ladies in heels. I was very annoyed that my elderly mother was asked, at the hotel guard gate to get out of the car (at night) and walk up an incline in order to get to the lobby, since they wouldn’t allow our Uber to drop us off. However, they will call you a taxi, which is apparently allowed to pickup/dropoff at front and is double the price - not "expensive" but most of our 15-20min restaurants were $20-30 taxi, whereas Uber was around $10. SERVICE: As someone who is used to nice hotels in Cabo, with excellent service where they intuit your need, this hotel cannot even compare. The staff was nice, but on a service scale of 1-10 I’d give it a 3 or 4 (but I guess at these rates, you're not really paying for superior service). Pool bar service was always super slow. Various front desk questions or requests had to be followed up on. I might be being picky, and ultimately the level of service didn't really impact our trip... we just learned to go with the flow. ***IMPORTANT*** Since this is an AirBnB unit at the hotel, most requests we had had to be sent on to the PROPERTY MANAGER, who isn't always on property. So, when we needed more paper towels, we had to call the front desk, who had to call the property manager… and if messages didn’t go through or the manager wasn’t on property, our requests weren’t met or we had to follow up and ask the front desk to call the manager again. DON'T USE SAFE WITHOUT INSTRUCTION: (in regards to the above) We used the closet safe in the room and thought it was pretty straight forward, but only realized this one

Quick and efficient response time and communication. With the exception of beach towels, everything we needed was provided (spices/seasonings, coffee, dish ware, quality shampoo + conditioner, body wash, washer+dryer, and TONS of clean towels) and we appreciate that whatever was left from guests prior was set aside for future guest use; main point being, thanks for the Goose and Corazon!!!(; Side note: couch is extremely soft and comfy (: Outstanding view! The only con about this place was that the pool and hot tub areas closed at 9, however that’s not the hosts fault, it just sucks. Private beach area/chairs were definitely convenient and highly appreciated! Make a point to take a boat ride over to lovers beach, the arch, and cliff jump! Made it a day trip and had an AMAZING time!
