The Space
Villa Joya Escondida is a beautifully designed villa offering guests an authentic Costa Rican experience. Situated on the hillside of North Playa Del Coco within a small gated community, the home provides expansive ocean and mountain views. The beach is less than a 10-minute walk downhill.
Designed by architect Víctor Canas, the villa features his signature flowing spaces that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living. Slide open the pocket doors to reveal a private saltwater infinity pool overlooking Coco Bay.
The fully furnished home is ideally positioned on the northern side of Playa Coco, with convenient walking access to restaurants, the beach, grocery stores, and other amenities.
The villa offers a relaxed yet elegant beach atmosphere with the following sleeping arrangements:
- Master bedroom 1 (main floor): King bed, private en suite bathroom, terrace with stunning views
- Master bedroom 2 (upstairs): Queen bed, private en suite bathroom, private terrace overlooking the ocean
- Bedroom 3: Two spacious double beds with a private en suite bathroom
- Bedroom 4: Separate stand-alone studio with a queen bed, kitchenette, private en suite bathroom, and separate entrance
The kitchen is fully equipped with Smeg and Bosch appliances. A handcrafted Guanacaste dining table comfortably seats eight guests. Laundry facilities are located off the kitchen on the main floor.
Enjoy meals on the large sundeck, perfect for al fresco dining, sunbathing, and watching sunsets with a glass of wine. For casual dining, the property also includes a pizza oven, ideal for simple and delicious homemade meals.
The villa is located just 25 minutes from the Liberia International Airport (LIR).
Guest Access
Guests have exclusive access to the entire property during their stay.
Additional Information
- Cleaning: The villa follows Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol developed with expert guidance. Mid-stay cleaning is included for stays longer than five days and can be arranged through the concierge team.
- Safety: Due to the presence of water features and the accessible pool, the villa is not suitable for families with children under 10 years old.
- Security: Security cameras are installed inside and outside the house; however, they are currently disconnected and scheduled for removal.
- Holiday Stays: A minimum stay of seven days is required during Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter periods.

This place was great. Very relaxing. My kids had a blast swimming and hanging out. Views were amazing. A few things to be addressed but certainly not enough to deter you away from this location. Would definitely stay again.

Spectacular home with plenty of space, great amenities and iconic views. Definitely recommend renting a golf cart and using grocery stores. Restaurants are average and overpriced. Recommend bringing USD cash with you. The Beach Club at the bottom of the hill is great for lunch, day passes, etc. The house manager was outstanding!

This Airbnb surpassed our expectations on a family vacation. The views are even more beautiful in person, with incredible sunsets every night. The host and staff were extremely responsive, and the concierge helped us to coordinate private chef services, excursions, groceries, and transportation. We had a minor issue with the pool and they came to resolve it very quickly, even on New Year’s Day. One thing to note is it can be difficult to find the house, and it’s a very steep hill to get to and from, which makes it difficult to walk into town or to the beach very easily. Fortunately, someone met us at the bottom to show us the way when we arrived, and the views more than make up for this!!! Loved our stay and would highly recommend.

The house was beautiful and very well equipped. Teri was very accommodating with our reservations. The check in process was very smooth and Greta was extremely helpful with all our needs (check in /groceries / tours and taxis). The house has a beautiful view although it is quite a way up a hill - a difficult walk to the beach and town - we rented a golf cart for the week that worked out very well. We found plenty of good restaurants in the area. Overall a wonderful stay - thanks Teri.

awesome place with an absolutely breathtaking view! the place had everything you need to feel at home, if home was paradise. great communication from the host and staff, easy check in and check out. all the amenities you need. private and safe. and did i mention the view? WOW! only wish we could have stayed longer!
