The property itself ended up being a beautiful place to stay. There are many updates that need to be worked on such as a broken twin bed, doors that won’t shut, a shower head that is broken and power that goes off regularly. The drive to the property should be mentioned. It is very intense uphill and feels like four wheeling. But with all that said we had an amazing time and the views and pool were amazing!

Ana was pleasant and welcoming upon arrival. Her home was beautiful with an incredible view. We saw howler monkeys hanging out in the backyard tree! Cool bats hanging outside the house, humming birds all morning long and an array of colorful butterflies everywhere. Ana has a really special place! Overall our stay with my husband and three daughters was great. A few things that were a bother. Unfortunately the neighbor had workers the first couple days working next door and playing loud music at 6am. Nothing anyone could do but try to tune them out. The house next door is right on top of this place so not so private. Bugs don’t bother me, however too many in the primary bedroom crawling on me wasn’t fun while in bed. One of the twin beds was broken and hung like a sideways hammock, which wasn’t comfortable for my youngest child. The pool was great but quickly emptied about two feet by day four. Tried opening the hose like Ana advised but no water. Otherwise, place is great.

Host Ana was excellent and above expectations! She was super communicative (an understatement, very proactive), and check-in was the easiest we’ve ever had. She even brought a new coffee maker late in the first evening to replace a broken one. The house is on a steep hill (4x4 is a must if it rains) but the view and wildlife make it worth it. We saw howler monkeys, (a big event for the family) bats, a fox, a coati, hummingbirds, a stunning blue morpho butterfly, scorpions, geckos (of course!), and too many birds to count. Don’t miss 5-6 AM from the observation deck, and bring your coffee - that’s pura vida time! If you're looking for an experience with a fantastic host, this is the place. Thanks again to Ana! Pura vida!

Casa Gecko exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful home overlooking an amazing more amazing landscape and the pool was so much bigger and deeper than we thought (such a nice surprise). Ana was a lovely host and extremely responsive. We saw monkeys, a scorpion, tarantulas and an amazing array of wild birds. I would highly recommend this beautiful home as it has everything you need and Playa Carrillo is only 5 minutes down the mountain. The AC is only in the bedroom and there is no TV but we found that not having a TV worked out better in the end as we stayed up chatting and laughing instead. One piece of advice, if you are planning on staying, do not attempt to drive up the mountain without a 4x4 or AWD. We barely made it up with a Toyota Raze and had to walk up the first night. Other than a bumpy ride up the mountain it is 100% worth it and we will definitely be visiting again.

The house and the views were stunning! We loved spending time on the covered patio and cooling off in the pool. Honestly, it was even prettier than the pictures. Ana was a nice host as well. She was responsive and helpful. It felt very secure with a private/gated entrance and covered parking. My only complaint is that it was unbearably hot and there was no A/C available. There is a unit in the master that does not work, and the fans were just not adequate. We are a pretty heat tolerant family, but after realizing that most other accommodations in the area have A/C, it seems silly that this house does not considering how much we paid for it. We tend to cook our meals at home, but that was tough too because it just made the house hotter. Perhaps during the rainy season it would be better.

First, my compliments to Ana she was always on top of our request. She was kind, gracious and helpful with our requests. The home that was shared with us was as beautiful in person as the pictures showed. The ocean view was truly breathtaking from the outside patio. We played games and did devotions from that beautiful location. All the utilities worked and we had no issue with water availability or running out of hot water. We were advised that AWD is needed for access and that is certainly true; however that is what afforded us privacy. We had an awesome stay and we truly enjoyed the Samara community. Thanks Ana and April for a wonderful stay! Charlie

We stayed at the house for a week and enjoyed the peace and tranquility of nature. The view was amazing and so was the pool. Cooking in the kitchen was a breeze and it has nice appliances too. Ana is a great host and very responsive. We had no trouble communicating with her and she met us in person to show us the house. I would recommend this place for kids and family to enjoy the beauty and nature.
