VerdEnergia was a beautiful peaceful getaway. It’s away from anything touristic. Closest would be 1.5 out. The taxi drivers were very friendly and helpful. If you want to do things on your own, I’d definitely recommend renting a car if possible. The Marie and Chris were very nice and welcoming. Yodah, Rico, and Shmee were a dream to be around. The sweetest animals.

A beautiful place filled with beautiful and wonderful people. Living according to the principles of permaculture in the lush, gorgeous jungles of Costa Rica. About a 3 hour drive from San Jose due to meandering and rough terrain. Highly recommend using a 4x4 vehicle. This was by far our favorite place to visit on our Costa Rica adventure. VerdEnergia is a sanctuary-- a truly heavenly place.

Found a true community there where new guests are welcomed immediately. We could not have been happier with our stay. Thanks to our hosts and their guests.

Staying at VerdEnergia for only 2 days was the biggest regret of my trip to Costa Rica. This place is magical! I wish I stayed at least a week, if not months. Marie is a wonderful human being as well as her partner and the other people managing the farm. The farm is located in the deep jungle and the road to get there is a bit rough but once when you get there, expect peace, quiet, serenity, and a great community of people coming from different walks of life and wanting to learn about permaculture and how to be self-sustainable. I would love to come back again next year hopefully!

Stayed at VerdEnergia with a couple of friends for a few nights. If you are looking for a beautiful, secluded place that is off the grid (no phone reception, only very slow internet at some place few minutes away from the guest rooms) then this is for you. You will be part of the little team that is working at VerdEnergia and share lovely vegetarian meals with them 3 times a day (included in the price for the room). The guest rooms are very nice and clean and you can enjoy some time at the pool, learn more about permaculture from the team or do some walks to the close-by rivers and rainforest. Thanks again Marie, Chris & Team for the nice time!!

If you’re looking for a restful space, in a beautiful remote part of the country, blossoming with the most exotic and delicious fresh fruits and plants.. cuddly and creepy critters(in the intriguing way)... sign up now! If you’re looking for a warm and inviting community that will embrace you for all that you are.. stay forever! This was definitely what I needed: a place in nature, to spark creativity and confidence, amongst kind and generous spirits to hold space for and with me and allow me to find peace from “normal” life that could rejuvenate my soul. I’m so glad I found this opportunity to stay on the farm and learn about the community life there. I’ve left with almost a dozen new friends and 10x that in ideas for cooking, permaculture, sustainable housing, communal living... Little did I know, it was exactly what I needed. If you feel drawn to this place, GO. You would not be disappointed Thank you Verde familia!

Off the beaten path, but so worth it once you get there. VerdEnergia has a peaceful vibe and interesting history of reforestation and permaculture at work, which was nicely explained during a personal tour of the area. Artwork and sustainability are in evidence throughout the buildings and grounds of the complex. Bring sturdy walking shoes to explore the paths leading to waterfalls and other areas of VerdEnergia. The pool room on the upper level has a second story open-air view overlooking the common areas on two sides. The mosquito netting on the bed was much appreciated as were the good quality sheets. The room was set up nicely with handy electric outlets, dimmable string lighting, a fan for warmer nights, helpful tips for a good farm/jungle stay, and even an arrangement of fresh flowers and greenery to welcome me. Watching the sun rise over the mountain from my bed while listening to a symphony of jungle birds was a special treat. Common areas besides the gardens include a guest house with kitchen and lounge areas, a large covered yoga platform, a WiFi lounge house a short walk away, and a lovely artisanal pool where we took a refreshing afternoon dip before feasting on a delicious meal made with locally sourced ingredients at the farm’s indoor/outdoor kitchen. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at VerdEnergia and taste of “real Costa Rica” and can’t wait to visit again!

What a profoundly beautiful place and experience! Verde staff were welcoming and knowledgeable about the farm, we really felt at home. This really is a “choose your own adventure,” you can be involved in the gardens or harvesting processes, hike around the nicely marked trails, relax by the river or chill next to the large pool at the main house and practice yoga in the beautiful yoga shala. And the food...Jen is an amazing chef! No need to worry about allergies or food restrictions, the food here is tasty, healthy and made with love! There is also space to make your own snacks or afternoon tea, and a small fridge for cold items. If you want to experience lush jungle beauty this is definitely the place to come! We will be back for sure! Pura vida!
