The Space
Reserva Los Congrejos is a 25-acre wildlife preserve located just 200 meters from Coyotera Beach. The property is bordered on three sides by a tidal estuary and hosts over 50 bird species. A private road on the premises provides direct access to South Coyotera Beach.
The area is frequented by white-faced, howler, and spider monkeys. Early morning walks offer a good chance to spot these local primates. Although the water at Coyotera Beach appears murky, it supports a variety of fish species and attracts fishing birds such as pelicans, seagulls, and frigatebirds.
Location
The preserve is situated along a secluded jungle path, just a 10-minute walk from Coyotera Beach. Nearby neighbors are dairy farmers who sell milk, cheese, and other dairy products directly to the public. Their cows often visit the property weekly, helping to manage the grass growth.
Despite its secluded setting, several restaurants are within walking distance:
- Nandel Resort: Open to the public, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a swimming pool.
- Naked Indian Restaurant: Offers gourmet cuisine and live music on Friday nights.
- Bar Pirata: A local spot popular for nightlife.
On the Pacific Ocean side, Playa Rajada is a well-liked public beach featuring approximately 25 shaded parking spaces. Close to Rajada Beach, Playa Pillas is a unique, secluded beach composed of polished pebbles and surrounded by volcanic hills.

Timothy's place is very peaceful and the lodge has all that you need with good WiFi also. Tim & Mary very friendly and so to are the locals. The beaches are beautiful, especially Rajadita but of course difficult to reach without transport. Tim has lots of friendly dogs which was nice.

The place is very welcoming, very close to the beaches, restaurants, and shops where you can buy things to cook or eat out if you prefer. The hosts, Timothy and Mary, are always very attentive to your needs, very kind, and always looking out for their guests. The place is very clean, and you can hear the birds in the mornings. If you're looking for a quiet place close to the best beaches in the area, this is the ideal place I highly recommend it. Ana

Timothy is a great host! He was very accommodating and approachable! We enjoyed getting to spend time with him and his many, sweet dogs. As for the accommodations themselves, we were satisfied with our stay in the shipping container. The only thing I will note was that there was an abundance of bugs—mostly harmless ants—when we arrived. However, our host provided us with bug spray, and that largely resolved the issue. The location was perfect—close to many beautiful beaches where you can swim, kite surf, and see monkeys, stars, and even a little bioluminescence!
