Villa Morena is a small oasis of peace and prosperity, embraced by lush green forest, a few minutes from the breathtaking Akumal beaches. A completely ecological project where we put all our heart and so much passion. The space Independent cabañas with palapa roof, room with king size bed and mosquito net, private bathroom and small kitchenette fully equipped. Outside there is a spacious veranda with table and hammock. Thanks Guest access For all the guests a wonderful swimming pool carved into the rock with sun loungers and towles, barbecue grills, area relax with TV and sofa, children's play area and free wifi throughout the hotel. The breakfast, plentiful and varied, is included for guests. Other things to note The bed and breakfast is family run, we are an italian family composed of me, my parents and my little Khloe, helped by Lilí and Edgar, Salvadorans who moved to Mexico for several years, and we will do all we can to make your stay unforgettable. In case you want to stop and eat at our restaurant my mom will delight you with many Italian dishes and Lilí with traditional Mexican dishes. With great pleasure we would like to inform you that our hotel is 100% ecological. In the construction of the various units we used local and natural materials or recycled ones, or otherwise free of harmful substances from petrochemicals. The electricity comes entirely from solar panels and is stored in batteries for the night. All the water used in our structure comes from underground, which is full of rivers in this part of Mexico, and is drawn through pumps. Much of the exterior lighting is equipped with twilight switches or movement sensors in order to save electricity, and all internal and external bulbs are led. Almost all cleaning products, as well as detergents, are biodegradable or biological and the bathrooms and kitchens drains end up in septic tanks with two settling basins and one wetland tank that cleans the water through the roots of some specific plants. Also with regard to the waste, it is carried out a differentiated collection of plastic, glass and cans, and disposed of in special centers; paper and organic waste instead are respectively burned and thrown in a compost unit to produce the soil that together with the ashes then goes to feed vegetable garden and fruit trees. Furthermore, there are plenty of facilities; around the pool you can relax on sunbeds, the relax area is full of hammocks, seats and wooden swings and we have also a children area plenty of games. Inside the cabañas there are refrigerators and fans since we decided not to install air conditioning for energy saving reasons and the whole philosophy that distinguishes our structure: we think it is better to keep the room not closed with glass and windows, fully enjoying the sounds of the surrounding nature.

This place is gorgeous! Vanessa and her family went out of their way to make us comfortable. At first I was disappointed at the distance to the beach, but soon relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful garden setting, the most beautiful swimming pool, and delicious food. A very nurturing experience!

If you’re reading this and considering staying here, read no further and go ahead and tap that big pink reserve button. The people here are wonderful, and the place is perfectly peaceful. The included breakfast of fresh juice, fruit, tea or coffee and toast with extras was excellent. The optional dinner they offer was always delicious. There are a few other huts on the property yet the place was always quiet, especially in comparison to the chaos you get at the big resorts in Mexico. We loved the natural vibes here. Some good-to-knows: Everything in their description is accurate, just be aware the bed (at least in the hut we were in) is quite firm. Getting here with your own rental car is the way to go IMO, especially if you want to explore the area. Taxi from Akumal to the Villa is MX$600. We’ve stayed at a lot of really great airbnbs but I’m not sure we’ve ever been quite so sad to leave as we were when dragging our suitcase away from this one. It was the perfect escape.

Villa Morena is a beautiful spot and we enjoyed everything about our stay! Our cabana was clean, comfortable, and relaxing—a nice place to return to after a day of adventures nearby! Nights were dark and quiet, and we slept well to the sounds of the jungle and the breeze blowing through. The gardens and pool are gorgeous and inviting, and we loved starting and ending the day with a dip and a lounge under a palapa. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, and dinners at the restaurant as the sun went down were magical. Vanessa and the staff have created such a welcoming and peaceful retreat and thought of so many details that make this place feel like a hidden gem.

My husband and I wanted to experience the more rural/jungle side of akumal and Mexico yet still have the amenities of running water and a clean place to stay. This place offered just what we were looking for and more! Vanessa and her family treated us as part of the family and even made us a packable breakfast the night before since we had early morning plans. She recommended transportation options and offered us all sorts of ideas for a day on the town. (FYI, You will have to travel by bike or taxi to get to most things) The pool was always clean, housekeeping came every day, and the food was AMAZING. This was such a little gem to find and I hope others get the pleasure to stay here!

Vanessa was an amazing host. She is as very accommodating and the villa was so beautiful. We got stuck in the dark on our bikes on our last night and she was so kind in picking us up, which was very embarrassing for us. Thanks for our stay Vanessa!

This place is divine. When all of the Maya Riviera is full of private huge hotels this is a small family property, beautifully kept, with wonderful food, clean and comfortable cabanas, and a fabulous pool. The only problem was that our time was too short, so wéll have to come back!

Amazingly beautiful place to relax and get away. Vanessa and her family are so kind and very hospitable. The combi comes right to the end of the road and can take to Playa del Carmen or Tulum for 40 pesos. You can also access the beach in Akumal, but you have to pay 120 Pesos. Villa Morena is so beautiful and special, and Morena makes delicious food for breakfast and dinner, always a treat! Amazing get away retreat.
