A magic stay in Matapalo ! We rented both Casa Verde and Avari with 2 other families ( 11 in total ). We ate down in Casa Verde to take advantage of the ocean views and air coming through. The beds were really comfortable up in Casa Avari. ( 2 great doubles with nice outside bathrooms ) There are also 2 sofa beds if needed, but if it rains, the one upstairs can get wet. Such an amazing place to wake up in the morning to the sounds of the jungle and sometimes the monkeys looking in! The little pool area is refreshing and a great space to relax. The beds down in Casa Verde were smaller ( 2 smaller doubles and a twin room down stairs ). The 2 houses work really well together, not sure if it would work as well if there were 2 separate groups. The team on site were great and very helpful! Beach out the front was pretty wild, but there was big swell. Any surfers, be aware, Backwash and Pan dulce are a bit of a slog to walk to, or you need to drive. Miss Matapalo, a great place :)

As other guests have said, these 2 homes are absolutely amazing and in a fantastic location. Orlando, Joel-wife Marie and daughter, the lady doing laundry, & the groundskeepers were WONDERFUL! My only issue is I rented these two homes +the 3rd home on the property, Casa Contiki, to ensure we would have total privacy/quiet. No one at this Vacasa co. mentioned there was a major construction project going on right between the 2nd and 3rd homes even though I emailed them several times asking about privacy. So we had generators/saws/etc going on all day, every day we were there. I reached out to Vacasa when I returned home to voice my frustration & waste of money renting the 3rd home but other than ‘we will pass it on and someone will get back with you’, I haven’t heard anything back from them. After years of renting through Airbnb this is the first time I felt deceived about a property. NOTE: Daily parked traffic/people in front of Casa Verde which surprised me for how remote

Amazing view and right in the middle of the jungle. Not a swimming beach in front though. Rocky 4x4 track to access. Two houses with own facilities. Very clean. Refreshing plunge pool for the kids. Lovely sleeping to sound of booming surf. Great for a group visit off the beaten track.

Cabo Matapalo is paradise and it was an honor to stay in such lovely accommodations! It is off the beaten path but sooo well worth the effort. The monkeys visited everyday; we even had an ant eater stop by one afternoon! Orlando and the rest of the staff could not have been nicer - I can’t say enough about how kind and helpful they all are. Thank you for an incredible trip that we will talk about for years to come!

An absolutely amazing property offering complete immersion in nature where "the jungle meets the ocean." Case Verde and Aviari are both very spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. The first -- sits beachfront and has a deck with a breathtaking view; the second -- is structured as a birdhouse giving you inverted zoo experience (expect daily visits from capuchins, coatis, and other creatures). If you decide to stay (and you definitely should!), you'll have to part with A/C for a few days -- but the rewards are absolutely worth it. Case Verde/Aviari will remain among the most memorable AirBnBs we've stayed at, and are a fantastic way to experience the beauty of the Osa Peninsula. Finally, Orlando is an amazing property manager and was instrumental to making this a 5* experience.

Wow. Just wow. What an amazing place. We were 3 families traveling with 4 kids ages 4-11 so we rents both houses. Back house is SUPER unique with an attached frog sanctuary. And the toads come out at night to share your space and eat bugs. But that’s what we loved about this place… we are just sharing space with the wild life. The front house is a totally different more traditional Costa Rican jungle house vibe. This is where we ended our nights with the awesome breeze from the ocean. Although we did go swimming out front once, we ended up venturing out to other more swimmable beaches and there are close ones near by. Tip: check out Martina’s for lunch. Usually a sloth up in the tree. Also Marluna is a great place - it’s a bar WITH a pool. Both of these are only 10-15 mins away. Everyone had a great time. The monkeys came everyday around lunch, the macaws where always circling overhead and the sound of the waves put us all to sleep every night.

This was an incredible stay for our big group of students who needed to get away for the weekend! Everything was beautiful and clean upon arrival. The only things that we had trouble with were the halloween crabs and ants, but it was worth it for the open air, all natural living that we got to experience. Orlando was great as well, always willing to help out with anything we needed. Overall amazing stay!

Once you arrive, you feel like you have landed at the end of the world...in paradise. Words nor pictures can give you the feeling of peace and relaxation at Casa Verde. We had a group of 8 in their 50s and 60s+, some who had never been to a country outside of the U.S. We stocked up on food in San Jose so we had all the groceries need for the 4 days we were there. The tree house out back felt like a 'reverse' zoo, where the monkeys looked in at us every day! The ocean waves could wake you sometimes...but mostly we loved the sounds of the ocean and jungle at night. The ocean front is quite rocky in front of the house but a nice sandy beach is just a few mintues walk down the road. Joel, the host, was extremely nice and accomodating and felt like we were saying goodbye to friend at the end of our stay. This place is definitely remote, 4WD is a MUST....but well worth it!
