Casa Culebra is situated 12 kilometers from San Juan del Sur town, accessible via country dirt roads. The Balcones community sits on a hill above the main road, making a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle essential for reaching the property. This requirement also applies to most beaches north and south of San Juan del Sur.
Nearby beaches include Playa Maderas, Playa Majagual, and Playa Marsella, all known for excellent surfing and swimming opportunities. The villa is located within one of Central America’s largest privately owned ecological reserves, surrounded by abundant wildlife and natural beauty.

Mes enfants de 10 et 14 ans, moi et mon conjoint avons passé 4 nuits dans cette magnifique maison d’architecte. Le cadre naturel luxuriant et la piscine à quelques pas sont d'excellents atouts. Certains points faibles ont toutefois teinté notre séjour, notamment la musique du voisin et, surtout, l'organisation de la communication : Multiplication des canaux : L'usage de trois fils de messagerie en plus de celui d'Airbnb a complexifié les échanges. Manque d'informations :En raison de notre arrivée tardive communiquée, des infos écrites auraient été utile pour localiser la laveuse dans la salle cadenassée ou connaître les équipements disponibles (bodysurfs par exemple dans cette salle ). Suivi post-départ :Un signalement concernant un problème technique sur la télévision nous a été fait trois jours après notre départ, bien que la dame de ménage était dans le bâtiment adjacent 30 min avant notre check-out.Cette communication est l'aspect moins agréable de ce voyage de 3 weeks au Nicaragua

The Japanese inspired home was terrific. We stayed there 17 days in May 2026. Fortunately it was a dry May which reduced the bugginess, but was also had some very hot days. The home receives plenty of breeze on the hillside. And with both a ceiling fan and floor fan, we were able to feel comfortable at night. Howler monkeys were quite loud but typically only making their calls in the early evening and early morning. My wife and I are early risers so this didn’t affect me too much. During the week we pretty much only heard the wind, birds and monkeys. During the weekend the adjacent neighbor likes to crank up his music, and you only need to politely ask him to turn it down. Casa Culebra is the closest home rental to the swimming pool. It’s just across the road and won a few steps. Both the pool area and the home has an outdoor shower to cool off or remove sand from the beach. We mostly prepared our own meals. The kitchen is well stocked with sharp knives and outdoor BBQ.

Nous avons adoré cette maison! La vue sur le coucher de soleil depuis le salon est magnifique! La piscine était un vrai bonheur en fin de journée. Et, nous avons tous énormément apprécié les deux bodyboard pour jouer dans les vagues de Playa Maderas. Nous recommandons grandement!

This place is amazing. Well hidden away in the beautiful nature of Nicaragua. We had the fortune of waking up to a family of apes just outside our bedroom. The pool was very peacefull and just a cool place to hang out. They are building a new road closeby which will be a plus in the future. Very close to amazing beaches. Just amazing!

This spot is very cool! We loved the views, the unit is large and beautiful and comes with many amenities. The pool is a very short walk off the back patio and relaxing, although we had to clean it often but I don’t think you can blame the hosts for the wind for knocking leafs into the pool all day. A few visitors like scorpions and spiders but they provided lots of spray and every time we found an unwanted guest, it was already dead from the spray. Again - you can’t fight your surroundings, you’re right in the thick of nature and all its beauty. We loved the howler monkeys and even had a loud kitty come by for hellos. Although we missed him (small and ginger) the last few days - hope he is ok! Only critique is the bed was quite hard. And the wind was a lot if you’re in the front room but the room by the patio was much better. Overall - loved it!

Un angolo di paradiso. Io e la mia compagna siamo stati veramente bene… essere immersi nella natura e sentirne i suoni è stata un’esperienza “rigenerante”. La casa è molto bella e curata e c’è tutto ciò di cui si ha bisogno. Ottima inoltre la presenza di lavatrice e asciugatrice.

We had an amazing experience at this Airbnb. The property is beautifully designed, and we felt incredibly comfortable during our stay. Tucked away in the hills, you're surrounded by jungle and nature - it’s peaceful and secluded. We spent a lot of time surfing at Playa Maderas, which is just a short drive away, and there’s also a beach within walking distance. Every morning, a friendly orange cat would stop by to say hello, which we named Biscoff. The pool was a great bonus and perfect for cooling off after a day in the sun. Like others have mentioned a 4x4 vehicle is essential for getting here, and comfortable shoes are a must if you plan to explore on foot!

Lovely setting in the forest with lots of wildlife all around. Loved the open design of the home, and the wind sweeping through at night, refreshing dips in the forest infinity pool and nearby beach. Woke to monkeys and enjoyed the sunset views. As others have mentioned, the next door neighbours can be loud in the early evening but all was quiet by 9 PM. Overall a lovely stay and would recommend. Note that a 4x4 vehicle is required to make it up the steep drive!
