Welcome to our lovely coastal getaway, Villa Pochote. Located 10 minutes north from legendary Santa Teresa, just a quick drive to the surf of Playa Hermosa or a short walk to quiet Manzanillo Beach below, our home offers spectacular sunset and ocean views, a private pool and is the perfect blend of authentic Costa Rica and modern luxury. Recently remodeled, our 3 bed/2 bath boasts ample space to gather, a home gym, A/C in all rooms and fiber optic (200mbps). Pura vida! The space Villa Pochote is located 50 meters above sea level and just 150 meters from the beautiful beach of Playa Manzanillo and a nice walk or quick drive to the breathtaking beach of Playa Hermosa. I purchased the land surrounding Villa Pochote in 2001 and began gardening, planting and reforesting in 2004. The property has transformed from vines and brush for cows into walking trails and gardens with over 30 different type of native trees within half an acre (2000 meters) around the villas. I built my home, Villa Pochote, in 2006 and shortly added Villa Cocobolo in 2007 originally for friends and guests. Villa Cocobolo has since been remodeled and transformed into our craft brewery, Qué Mae Brewing Company, and also Koji’s’s Japanese Restaurant. Although we have a brewery and restaurant next door, Villa Pochote is our full time home, and we have gone to extraordinary efforts to maintain our privacy, but also have the benefits of two amazing local favorites close by. Villa Pochote has three bedrooms and two baths and is surrounded by the Pochote tree, the rare Gavilan, Guayacan and Cocobolo. Upstairs you'll find a full bath and 2 ocean view rooms - one with a queen bed , the other with a personal gym. Both rooms have access to a teak wood balcony via sliding glass doors that open to a sitting area for monkey, whale, and bird watching as well as ocean and sunset views. Downstairs there is a full bath and two bedrooms - one with ocean views and a queen bed, the other equipped with a full bed. The kitchen and entertaining areas open to a spacious patio accessed by sliding glass doors for more ocean viewing, plunge pool and garden access. Villa Pochote can accommodate up to 7 adults. The home has vaulted ceilings of Pochote beams with laurel wood paneling and the verandas, patios, stairs, door and window frames are all accented in teak. The villa comes completely furnished with a fully equipped and recently renovated kitchen, and is surrounded by lush gardens, gravel walkways, private parking, pressurized hot/cold water, smart TVs, high speed fiber optic (200 mps), air conditioning in every room, weekly cleaning service, gardener and laundry service if needed. One can always look out to the ocean and listen to the waves and take in the amazing sunsets, but if you take the time you can still see coatis, anteaters, porcupines, kinkajous, jaguarundis, white face and howler monkeys, various bird species, whales and iguanas. ## The Space

Welcome to Villa Pochote, a charming coastal retreat located just 10 minutes north of the renowned Santa Teresa. The villa is a short drive from the surf at Playa Hermosa and within walking distance to the tranquil Manzanillo Beach. This home offers stunning ocean and sunset views, a private plunge pool, and a harmonious blend of authentic Costa Rican charm with modern comforts.

Recently renovated, the villa features three bedrooms and two bathrooms, providing ample space for gatherings. It includes a home gym, air conditioning in every room, and high-speed fiber optic internet with 200 Mbps.

## Location

Villa Pochote sits 50 meters above sea level and is only 150 meters from the beautiful Playa Manzanillo. Playa Hermosa’s breathtaking beach is a pleasant walk or quick drive away.

The property was originally purchased in 2001, with extensive gardening and reforestation beginning in 2004. What was once overgrown land for cattle has been transformed into walking trails and gardens, featuring over 30 native tree species across half an acre (approximately 2,000 square meters) surrounding the villas.

## History and Nearby Attractions

The main house, Villa Pochote, was built in 2006. In 2007, Villa Cocobolo was added for friends and guests. Villa Cocobolo has since been remodeled and now operates as Qué Mae Brewing Company, a craft brewery, alongside Koji’s Japanese Restaurant.

Although the brewery and restaurant are nearby, Villa Pochote remains the full-time residence of the owners. They have taken great care to maintain privacy while enjoying the convenience of two popular local establishments close by.

Away, nice and nice and quiet. The terraces of the house are enjoyed. There are beautiful and beautiful beaches nearby.

Trey’s spot is idyllic. Chilling in the pool with such a fantastic view felt like paradise. We watched macaws, bats, hummingbirds, and two types of monkey. Trey recommended local surf instructors who taught two teen girls to surf in one lesson! We’d love to come back.

If the host tells them that they are coming in a low car, they should not believe them. We lost the reservation because she assured that if the car came in, we asked the question before we booked. We tried to access the house on 5 different paths (By Coyote two paths, on Santa Teresa beach, on the Ario river) and we did not manage to get there, we took more than 10 hours to try it on slab roads until we got tired and stayed in Cobano. Maybe it's a beautiful place, but if they are going to book it is mandatory to bring a 4x4 car

Si la anfitriona les dice que entra automóvil bajo, no deben creerle. Nosotros perdimos la reservación por que ella nos aseguro que si entraba automóvil, la pregunta se la hicimos antes de reservar. Tratamos de accesar la casa por 5 caminos distintos (Por Coyote dos caminos, por la playa Santa Teresa, por el rio Ario) y no logramos llegar, duramos más de 10 horas en intentarlo por caminos de lastre hasta que nos cansamos y nos hospedamos en Cobano. A lo mejor es un hermoso lugar, pero si van a reservar es obligatorio llevar carro 4x4

here is a great place to discover the south of the peninsula of Nicoya far from the crowds . If a 4X4 is required to arrive at Villa Pochotte , the long and beautiful beaches of Manzanillo are within a 5mm walk . Trey will be at your disposal and good advice to organize your stay . A place or Pura Vida in one direction . Last info , Trey's craft beers are all excellent .

Highly recommended, the house has everything you need to have a great vacation, the house is surrounded by nature and very close to the beach. Trey was really nice  to us! We look forward to coming back!

If you plan to stay at Villa Pochote or in the Nicoya area you should note that a 4 w4 is the best choice as the hills can ve very steep and the roads are of poor conditions. Treys place

This is a great place to spend a time alone, relax and admire the weather and forest of Guanacaste. It is not close to the beach but not far away neither. You definitely need a car to get there and around. Trey is very kind, and a nice host. 

The place is super... located on one of the most beautiful beaches in the area and Trey is definitely a super host!!!

Trey's place is amazing. The views from the balcony over the pool and setting sun over the Pacific beyond were perfect. We didn't go a day without spotting monkeys, iguanas, parrots and many other birds from the balcony! So cool. The location is great to be far enough away from all the action of the beach towns to the south but those restaurants and beaches are easy to get to if you like. That said, the closest beach, Manzanillo, is amazing and so private that we had an entire afternoon there with the place to ourselves! Surf lessons from Trey were the icing on the cake. He got me surfing for the first time and my three kids (9, 9, and 7) all catching waves in no time! A trip to remember for sure. Thanks, Trey and Jacqueline!

Trey was a tremendous host and constantly made sure everything was good. Location is beautiful looking out onto the ocean and the place is clean and has everything you'd expect in it. 

My girlfriend and I just stayed in Manzanillo with Trey over a long weekend and had an amazing experience! Trey is such a friendly and helpful guy and the house and his property are lovely and such a resource. If you're looking for effortless relaxation in a remote and tranquil setting, but still close enough to restaurants and bars that you don't feel too remote, this is the spot for you. I highly recommend this location as a vacation destination for a couple or a group of people. Awesome spot. Saw monkeys in the trees upon our arrival, did yoga in the shelter next to the house, took in some chill pool/sun time steps from the back door, and honestly the AC in the bedroom(s) was a life saver. Stay with Trey! 

Really enjoyed our stayed at Villa Pochote. Trey is an amazing host, he was helpful, and answered all of my questions from the beginning. The Villa was cool, clean and comfortable. The outside grounds are maintained every day. The flowers, bushes and trees within Senderos de Paz makes you feel as if you were in a 5 star resort.  I will recommend a 4X4 vehicle to get there, the roads could get rough at times, although a friend traveling with us drove a Toyota Yaris, it took a longer, but he got there with no issues. We visited many beaches around the area, the closest 3 minutes away by car.  Thanks for everything Trey, and I am sure I will see you again.

Stayed at Villa Pochote March 2nd - March 6th 2015 - We had a great time, Trey and his staff were always available and helpful with suggestions, questions and ideas! The property was beautiful and located about a 15 minute walk to Manzanillo beachm - easy walk down but quite a trek back if done in the sun as it is uphill and dusty. Beach is great but if you want to swim you need to walk or drive about a KM north as it is extremely rocky. Property was great - clean with lots of amenities. Very private and quiet but also located a short drive from Hermossa and Santa Teresa area if you want to eat out or want more action .  Highly recommend!

We spent a lovely week with our great host, Trey! The trip to get out to Santa Teresa is accurately described as bucolic and I recommend following Trey's directions. A rental car is handy to get back into town where restaurants and surf shop abound. The cabana and swim up bar is great for late night fiestas and morning monkey watching. The newly built yoga platform is extremely zen. The modern luxuries of the house were lovely. Hot water, ceiling fans, full size refrigerator, well stocked kitchen utensils, and even AC and TV that we never used. So nice to leave the windows open and ear the animals! Trey is very welcoming and accomodating.  We loved the bucolic setting!

My family enjoyed every moment of the time we spent at this property. nestled in the trees our beautiful villa was cozy and welcoming at the end of each day of adventure. The villa was well appointed with all the necessary modern conveniences and all the extras to make you feel like you never left home. The beaches were amazing!! With just a short walk in either direction we were able to find our own little privet beach. The children were able to roam about freely and explore independently for hours and hours and there is a nice little restaurant the sits on the beach with great food and awesome views. All and all this was definitely one of the best trips we have ever done as a family. the only reason I didn't give it the full five stars was a tech issue, wifi access in the house was not functional but we could access from the pool area  so not a terrible situation but not the ideal.  

Beautiful place very close to the beautiful playa Hermosa but a little removed from the madness of Santa Therasa. Great for family relaxing. Villa with sea view view and pool pool. Very well maintained. Excellent hosting. We had a memorable time with our 2 young boys. Trey is a respectful, generous, and welcoming host.

Excellent accueil. Nous avons passé un séjour mémorable avec nos 2 jeunes garçons. Trey est un hôte respectueux, généreux et accueillant.

Senderos de Paz is an absolutely beautiful place to stay. My husband and I were fortunate enough to stay at Villa Cocobolo, which is just gorgeous! The upstairs balcony and downstairs patios were perfect for just relaxing and enjoying the jungle and views and for listening to the howler monkeys! The bedroom loft was so nice; it was awesome to wake up to see the beautiful scenery right outside the door! The kitchen was the best one we had throughout our Costa Rican journey; it was well-stocked with pots and pans and utensils, and there were even spices and cooking oil for us to use. It was also great to be able to use the grill outside. Being able to cook definitely helped us to save money (we found the eating out is really not super cheap in Costa Rica), and cooking at home gave us the chance to experiment with local foods, especially the fruits and vegetables. Another great plus was that the house is air-conditioned. We spent a lot of time outside, but it was really nice to come back and be able to sleep really well in a cool house! Senderos de Paz is close enough to the ocean that you can hear it and see it from the house. It is up on a hill, and the dirt road goes down to the beach, which it easily accessible. The first night we were there, we ran down to the beach and made it there within five minutes, if that. Going back up is obviously a bit more difficult, since it is all uphill, but it didn't take that long, and it was great exercise. Also, we got to see all the land crabs and other critters and plants close up! It was also great to be able to go swimming every night in the pool! Trey was a very helpful host and we had everything we needed while we were there. Senderos de Paz is a wonderful place to stay. It is also very well secured; there's a locked gate all around the property, so even our car was locked in at night. The location is fairly secluded, and the town is really nice; we never felt worried at all. This was a beautiful place to stay, and we highly recommend it!!! 

I love my beautiful Costa Rica, and loved my little Costarrican adventure at Trey's peaceful Senderos de Paz.  Since it's located on a hill it has nice ocean views and I really liked that the place blends perfectly with the nature that surrounds it (you can watch the howler monkeys eating on the trees, or the iguanas resting).  Many beautiful beaches are very close (Malpais, Santa Teresa, Hermosa, Manzanillo) so you can choose which to go to each day (keep in mind all roads are graveled so you'll have a nicer easier time having your own adequate vehicule, like we did).  Trey is a wonderful person, definitely makes sure you are comfortable and happy at his place, we stayed at the smaller rooms with a 3 year old and we had everything we needed, he even gave us a toddler bed made by himself for our daughter to sleep in. Thank you Trey, my family and me deeply appreciated your kindness.

My family, consisting of five adults and two children, spent our Christmas at Trey's beautiful villas. Having spent 6 weeks traveling around Costa Rica I was a little nervous and didn't know what to expect but Trey far exceded any expectations I may have had. Definintely "American Standards" (which I hate to admit but I enjoyed ever minute of it!). Upon our arrival Trey met us at the driveway and told us that he had surprise upgraded us to a house instead of just the bungalows. The house and bungalows were very pretty, clean, and looked almost brand new. The property itself was gorgeous with all types of native plants including fruit trees (which Trey welcomed us to pick). He has a sweet little pool where the howler monkeys like to visit and the view is really fabulous!! Trey was a fabulous host and ended up really helping us out in the end when my friend realised the had nowhere to stay. He first called ever single person he knew and when they were all booked he painted an entirely new bungalow so she could stay there! The only negative thing I can say is you can't really walk to the beach from there so a car is a must. I hope everyone else enjoys their stay as much as we did. Thanks Trey for a fabulous xmas spot!!
