Casa Toucanet

We were so excited to stay at Casa Tucanet at Birds and Breakfast near La Tigra. Marcela our host, was in contact with us via before and during our trip which was very helpful. She arranged a shuttle from the airport to get there and a taxi to get back. She also surprised us with a fruit bowl of sweet lime, sapota, and fresh cacao. The house was very comfortable and clean. It's fully equipped to cook your meals, wash and dry your clothes. Be sure to take all the food you will be preparing. The birds, plants, flowers, frogs, and toads were amazing. The Childrens Eternal Rain Forest is in walking distance. Wish we could have stayed longer. Hope we can make it back some day. Thank you Marcela!

We had an incredible stay at Marcela’s place! She is very friendly and communicative and did everything to accommodate us. She set us up with amazing bird and amphibian tours, and gave great recommendations for what to do. Her place is gorgeous! Very private and secluded feeling, even though you’re only minutes from town. The property has an incredible roofed porch which overlooks a forest and a small lake. Lovely walking and hiking can be done right on the property! The home is spacious and was more than enough for the two of us. It was also very tidy and well cared for. We are sad we didn’t spend more time here, or take Marcela up on breakfast 😕, but we are trying to pack a lot of CR into a week. But one could spend weeks here and still have much to see. If you are a bird/wildlife person, we recommend making this your base camp for at least a week! We had a wonderful time here and felt right at home. This place (and the host) is a gem! Pura vida!

It’s a beautiful equipped house, very private surrounding by forest and bird sounds. Great place to rest. I really enjoy my stayed. Great host. I’ll definitely will recommend this place! Thank you for all.
