Ein tolles Haus mit speziellem Konzept, ohne Fenster aber alles mit Mückengitter abgeschirmt. Der Wohnraum mit offener Küche im Obergeschoss ist sehr grosszügig und hat einen grossen Balkon, wo man tolle Tierbeobachtungen machen kann. Die Betten sind gross und bequem, keine A/C. Für mich war die Entscheidung durch den 1 stufigen (stark) Deckenventilator anblasen lassen oder etwas zu schwitzen. 3 Badezimmer mit Toilette und Dusche, alles sehr grosszügig. Durch den Garten ans Meer laufen, wir haben Affen, Aras, Wildschweine und weitere Tier gesehen, unglaublich schön. Der direkte Meerzugang ist für Sufer ok, zum schwimmen oder plantschen suboptimal. Jedoch ca. 5 Autominuten entfernt, ein versteckter Traumstrand, fernab vom Tourismus. Insgesamt ein toller Aufenthalt.

Wow, perfect home from home! Osa (and Matapalo) is a magical place. A paradise on Earth. We loved the location of the house - monkeys in the trees, macawas in the air, coatis on the ground ... Some steps from the ocean, very nice and a not so small pool. The house is very big and nicely appointed. The nets iun all the windos create a very effcient barrier for the bugs, the lack of AC is really not felt - the fans do the job. The hosts are very kind, extermely helpful but non-intrusive. I usually do not come back to places I have already visited but I hope here I can and will make an exception - 1 week was by far not enough.

This Airbnb is exactly as described in a beautiful location. It’s plenty spacious for a large family. Its open air concept is a fantastic design. So much thought went into designing this home. The pool is lovely and the yard is full of a variety of wildlife, which is such a special treat. Chad was very helpful and responsive all the time. The kitchen is well appointed. We got laundry done no problem. Beds were very comfortable. Loved all the linens. We surfed, hiked to a waterfall, went horseback riding on the beach with Miguel which I highly recommend, along with a beach massage from Nikki. The location was great and not too far from the main town of puerto Jiménez! We hope to be back one day!!

Paradise! Enjoyed waking up to Howler monkeys and other animals in a beautiful home. Pool is perfect for kiddos and the short walk to an empty beach is ideal. The house is spacious and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommended!

This place genuinely exceeded our expectations in every way. Spacious, beautiful, and fully immersed in the jungle; it felt less like a rental and more like a home we never wanted to leave. What made it special though was the life all around us. Watching monkeys swing through the trees and little critters wander through the property became the highlight of every morning. It reminded us why we travel in the first place. The hosts were the kind of people who make you feel like you matter. They showed up every day! Not just to clean the pool, but to check in, share tips, and make sure we were having the trip of our lives. With beaches, local spots, and great restaurants just a short drive away, we had everything we needed. Town is 20–30 minutes out, but honestly we rarely wanted to leave. If you're craving a real reset surrounded by nature and genuine hospitality, this is it.

This house is incredible. Our favorite place that we have ever stayed! You are immersed in nature! Fall asleep to the sound of cicadas and wake up to howler monkeys! We enjoyed coffee or breakfast on our balcony every morning while watching the monkeys, We saw all 4 of Costa Rica’s species of monkeys on the property during our stay. Spider monkeys were there daily twice a day or more. We saw a coati, armadillo, agoutis and many birds including toucans and scarlet macaws. I was nervous about not having AC but it wasn’t an issue. We were so exhausted from our adventures that we fell asleep quickly and woke up feeling cool. The screened windows are part of the magic here! There are also many beautiful secluded beaches a few minutes in either direction. You are close enough to Puerto Jiménez for excursions or restaurants if you have a rental car and plan on doing those things. Chad was friendly and helpful before and during our stay.

We had the most incredible stay at the Matapalo house hosted by Chad and Jen—truly one of our favorite travel experiences ever. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely welcomed. Chad and Jen are not only amazing hosts, but they are incredibly knowledgeable about the area and passionate about helping guests make the most of their trip. Their recommendations for beaches, surf spots, access points, and adventures were spot-on. Whether we were looking for surfing, exploring, or just soaking in the beauty of the area, they always pointed us in the right direction. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests having an unforgettable experience. The accommodations were fantastic—comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully set up with everything we needed. On top of that, their kids are absolutely sweet and added to the warm, family-like atmosphere that made our stay feel extra special. We honestly can’t say enough good things about our time here. Casa Cleo and Matapalo far exceeded all expectations. Sip coffee on the balcony while admiring spider monkeys make their morning commute along the canopy: a truly wondrous place. The house was spotless and the photos do not come close to doing the house or property justice. Chad and family were consummate hosts – don’t miss out on this jewel.

Chad was an amazing host, always so helpful. Beautiful home, beautiful wooden furniture with an unforgettable experience of seeing monkeys, maccows, toucans and more everywhere around us. No need to go for a guided walk in a National Park, we had it all around us. Thanks Chad!
