This place feels really special, worked well for our family of 4. The ability to walk to the beach, and the magic of the creek and beach meeting were big joys for us. It felt good to stay in a place that was built so intentionally, soulfully.

Casa Lapa is truly a gem and Steve is an amazing host! The beautiful construction is amazing and the pictures do not do it justice. We loved the proximity to the beach and being close enough to walk the beach to Olga's (craft beer festival while we were visiting!)but far enough away that the bustling "night life" wasn't distracting. The location is peaceful if you don't mind being woken up by howler monkeys and macaws...which is part of the Costa Rica experience! Being end of the road is fantastic because dust really is an issue during the dry season. Steve was an amazing host and provided great directions that allowed us to find our way even in the dark. I will definitely plan to stay here again during future Nosara visits.

Steve’s compound of small (but perfectly sized for vacationing) hand built cabins are unique in Nosara. With so much development in the area being a cookie cutter faux luxury, the cabin felt real. Attention has been given to using natural materials, and respecting the natural surroundings. We visited in February of 2025, with our 3 year old and 8 year old, and had a fantastic time. The weather was perfect. The private walkway off the property directly to the best beach in town was something we used multiple times a day. Steve has the perfect set up for a family to use the beach, and the outdoor showers and plunge pool were a welcome way to get the sand off of everyone. I can’t stress enough how great the beach is, with gentle surf at low tide, tidal pools full of life, soft inviting sand, and for a bit more adventure, hike the beach north to caves in the cliffs. There are also restaurants directly accessible off the beach, just south, meaning you can spend an entire day without shoes.

Steve’s place is beautifully constructed with teak that he grows, mills and constructs himself. The design of the casitas is beautiful and simple. The location is a short walk away from the breathtaking beach and surf. There are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance many on the beach that have good food and amazing views and sunsets. You can easily walk to Guilones for bars, restaurants and surf shops. I recommend Nosara fish and surf located next to Olga’s restaurant for fishing, surf lessons and trips to the “pink island “. They are very knowledgeable and friendly and professional. We also got to see 5 humpback whales so close you could almost touch them! Steve’s place also has a comfy pool where you can cool off in beautiful tropical surroundings. The whole place is quiet and private. You’ll get to hear monkeys and birds of all kinds and probably some iguanas as they scamper across the roof. Go with an open mind, a willingness to explore and meet very friendly people

More open than I thought. Not as well equipped as I thought. Didn’t realize was sharing pool with other guests. They were using pol every night and not big enough for 2 groups to use

Coolest building construction I’ve ever stayed in. Combine that coolness with our private pool (we happened to be the only guests at the time) and the nearly private beach and it resulted in a pretty magical experience. Howler monkeys traveled in the trees above us as we walked the short, flower-lined path to the beach. Easy walk to Olga’s and La Luna for excellent food. Would definitely recommend!

We loved Steve’s place! Very clean, plenty of towels, and kitchen well stocked. Comfortable beds. Location at the end of the road was great, short walk to the beach. Definitely will stay there again!
