Overview
Casa Calyx is a garden retreat offering stunning ocean views and is within walking distance of a café and the beach. The property boasts breathtaking surf-to-horizon vistas overlooking Playa Santa Teresa on one side and a lush nature reserve on the other. Although just a 12-minute walk from the ocean, Casa Calyx provides a peaceful escape from the lively town below. Cleaning service is included.
The Space
Santa Teresa is renowned for its excellent surfing and diverse international dining options. For those who prefer to cook at home, the chef-designed kitchen features ocean views.
This home is ideal for couples and families. The third bedroom, which can double as an office, contains a single bed and an extra-wide desk spacious enough for two people to work comfortably. This room has an open-air atmosphere with oversized windows and a walk-out balcony. It is also equipped with air conditioning for warmer days.
The house was designed by an architect to capture a soothing cross breeze flowing from the ocean to the jungle. The main floor features sliding doors that open to let guests enjoy the sound of crashing waves and howler monkeys playing in the jungle below.
Casa Calyx is well-suited for remote work, offering fiber optic Wi-Fi and a backup generator to maintain internet stability during outages. The property also includes 24-hour security and an app-enabled keyless entry system.
Guest Access
Guests are encouraged to use 4x4 vehicles or ATVs to reach the property, and recommendations can be provided. However, these are not strictly necessary for those comfortable walking up the mountain road, which is a common practice.
Additional Information
- The plumbing and toilets are sensitive due to the jungle environment. Guests are asked not to flush anything other than toilet paper and to dispose of used toilet paper in the garbage can provided beside the toilet. This is standard practice in Santa Teresa.
- The property is not suitable for children under 10 years old.

Lo único que recomendaría, que nos afecto fue la falta de cortinas tipo blackout en las habitaciones, cuando amanece es muy difícil continuar durmiendo. Las cortinas que tienen no paran la claridad.

Had a great stay here. The location is ideal, just up the street from the center of town. You can walk in about 10 minutes, but the climb is steep. If you do not walk, you will need a quad or a 4 x 4 SUV. The backyard views and sunsets are incredible. The beds are on the firm side if that matters to you. Overall, a great experience. I would definitely come back.

We had a wonderful week at Casa Calyx. From the ocean views below to the howler monkeys up above we truly had the best time relaxing and enjoying the sun. We had one small hiccup with an electricity outage, but Mariel and the house caretaker Jiro were very helpful in getting the issue resolved. Highly recommend this stay!

Great location! Just up the hill from the man drag of the city. Beautiful view and house over all. Mariel and Jairo were great with response times and any questions we had along with helping us book a driver.

Great location in the heart of Santa Teresa but off the beaten path so very private. Watch the surfers below from the plunge pool while the howler monkeys watch you from the trees! Wonderful stay. Will book again.

What a vibe! Eating fruit and coconuts with the jungle trees and a view of the waves, unmatched. The open kitchen with the sliding windows are amazing when it rains. Couch is surprisingly comfortable and great for a day time nap after a morning full of surfing. The cool breeze and the sound of the thunder is the best nightcap to any home cooked dinner at casa calyx. Definitely will need a 4x4 to get up to the house but the tucked away and elevated location has a great ambiance deep in the hills. Great stay at casa calyx!

We had such a relaxing and pleasant stay at Mariel’s place. Waking up to the view of the ocean and spending our days by the pool was absolutely amazing—so much so that we often didn’t want to leave the house! The space was perfect for our family, and we felt instantly at home. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up extending our stay. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at Mariel’s place. It’s a beautiful home with an amazing view, exactly what we were hoping for. Jairo was really helpful throughout our stay and made everything go smoothly. Communication was great from start to finish. Just a heads-up: you’ll need a 4x4 to get up the entrance, as it’s a bit steep. It’s not walking distance to town, but if you have a car, the location is perfect. Would definitely recommend!
