Mountain Vista

Welcome to our incredible view-location, overlooking the intriguing City of San Jose. The city is cradled in the Central Valley of Costa Rica by the glorious surrounding mountains, made beautiful by their lush tropical vegetation. Stay with us and enjoy the wonderful view, while experiencing a refreshing swim in our solar heated pool or relaxing in our soothing hot water jacuzzi. The space Our Place: Our self-contained suite, which is an addition to our house, sleeps four, and has a kitchen, living room, bedroom and two washrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a buffet bar which allows for uninterrupted conversation between family or friends while preparing the daily meals. The bedroom has twin beds or a king size bed (your choice) with a connected 3-piece washroom and the living room has a pull-out sofa with adjoining 3-piece washroom. You can enjoy your favorite TV program on one of the TVs in the living room or in the bedroom. The large windows facing the pool allow an abundance of natural light within the space and the adjacent exterior terrace provides a place for barbequing or just relaxing with your favorite book. The Neighborhood Our location is just above the prosperous town of Escazu, in the beautiful rain forested mountainside of the Central Valley. Escazu, with its numerous embassies and exclusive shops and restaurants, is the jewel, and trendy suburb of San Jose, and is home to many of the country's ex-pat population. Although our location is 300 meters above the town, we are only 15 minutes by car from these desirable amenities. As you ascend the mountain to our place from the town, you will pass a variety of housing types including multi-million dollar architectural designed homes, mixed in with a few small pastures with cattle or horses, and you might pass a farmer leading his oxen down the road to a nearby pasture. Should you travel higher up the mountain you will drive through vegetable farms and coffee farms, and forest reserve areas with hiking trails. The vegetation is lush with numerous tropical trees and palms, and many types of colorful flowering plants. To get to our place you will need to come by car, bus, or Uber/taxi. The walk up the mountain from Escazu is for hiker types wanting exercise, and not for a regular casual stroll. Guest access Our guests have complete access to our secure garage, the Airbnb suite, and the suite terrace with barbeque. In addition, guests have access to the pool, the jacuzzi, and the billiard table patio with its legal sized billiard table. Other things to note Weather: The weather in this area is usually "short sleeves" in the day and "light sweaters” in the evening. John’s Travel Experience in Costa Rica: I traveled to Costa Rica with my wife and friends in 1999 for a vacation that turned out to be the most enjoyable vacation I had ever experienced. Following that eventful holiday, I couldn’t wait to return to Costa Rica, and was able to return many times over the following years. My wife and I traveled to a variety of locations in the country, and each time we left Costa Rica, I wanted to stay longer. I loved Costa Rica’s lush tropical vegetation and colorful flowers, the mountainous terrain and the ocean, the streams and waterfalls, the colorful birds and butterflies, and of course the weather. I found the local Costa Rican people to be a mild and friendly people, who loved to please their guests. They appeared to love nature and seemed to be closely connected to the land with their coffee farms, cattle, and horses. In 2021, I decided to retire and embrace the country that I had come to love. I purchased an amazing city-view property in Escazu with house and pool, overlooking the City of San Jose. Since then, I have constructed an addition to the house for the new Airbnb, and it is called “Mountain Vista”. I now enjoy living the “Pura Vida” lifestyle.
