The Green House

The space The Hancel family is the founding family of Manzanillo and this is one of the first rental homes that is owned and run by the family. Dashi is the manager and lives next door, her brother (my husband) is the owner of this green house, Jose (another brother) the boat captain and tour guide lives behind in the orange house. So you are truly supporting a local family and having an authentic experience of Manzanillo life. If you want to experience the real culture and life on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica in a local town of Afro-Caribbean, Indigenous, and Latino culture then this is the destination for you. A simple, but comfortable home right in the town of Manzanillo. This house is surrounded by local culture and wildlife. A front porch that is secured with a gate, with comfy chairs to catch the evening breeze. One bedroom has a king size bed, one has a queen, and the middle bedroom has one set of bunk beds. There is a bathroom with a shower in the middle of the house (no need to go through a room to get to it). There are 2 TVs, wifi, a big couch in the living room to sit and watch Netflix. There is also a spacious kitchen with every dish and appliance you could want (blender, microwave, oven, gas stove, coffee pot, refrigerator, freezer). There are big windows with screens and curtains and air conditioning in the living room that does cool the bedrooms if the ceiling fans and standing fans are not enough. The front porch has a gate so children can play and be locked in (kind of like a big playpen). It also has plenty of seating so you can enjoy your meals outside and watch the monkeys, toucans, and sloths in the trees. No pets!!!! Guest access The house is very accessible by car, bicycle, bus, or walking. You do not need four wheel drive (AWD) to get to the house from San Jose, the road is paved all the way here and we have a brand new road in front of the house. You can park in the driveway in front of the house and it is a safe spot. You can also take the public bus and walk 250 meters to the house from the bus stop in front of Cool and Calm Restaurant. You can bike to the house and lock your bikes on the porch. Other things to note Please follow us on social media and we also have excursions and tours.
