This place is exactly what it says it is, and that’s the highest compliment I can give an Airbnb. It’s a unique open-air surf compound steps from the beach, you fit into the place, not the other way around, and if you come in understanding that, it’s fantastic. The kids practically lived in the pool. The beach is a two-minute walk. The bedrooms have ice-cold AC when you want it. And the attached El Patio cafe became our private kitchen, genuinely some of the best food we had in two weeks in Costa Rica, thirty seconds from our door. Yes, it’s jungle-adjacent living: you’ll share the night with the local wildlife, you lock up your food, and it’s rustic in the best way. That’s all in the listing and the reviews, and it’s part of the charm. Juan’s check-in instructions were thorough and communication was easy even while he was traveling. A relaxing one of a kind stay!

Very spacious and nice house, ideal for enjoying the beach and surfing with friends!

We went with a group of 7 friends. Despite the open-plan design of the house, we never had any problems. The house is extremely comfortable and safe for a group of friends or families with older children. It had everything offered, and in the front part, there is a café that offers very good options. It is literally 1 block from the beach, located on the main street with all the cafés and restaurants nearby. There's even a supermarket just 1 block away. Juan always responded to our questions and even gave us advice and offered help.

This was our third Airbnb stay during a 10 day trip. They were all wonderful, but this was absolutely our favorite. When we walked in, it was not exactly what we expected, more rustic than anticipated. But after four nights, we loved all its charm and did not want to leave. So many great things to say about the home and about Juan’s assistance during our stay. On our first day Juan was very quick to respond to help fix our flat tire, as well as any other question we had. We successfully combatted the daytime mosquitoes with the outdoor fans (mosquitos were gone in the evening, surprisingly), and we were delighted with our nighttime visitors, including a very sweet cat, a disinterested dog passing by, a skittish coati that disappeared too quickly, a poolside crane (twice), and many monkeys in the trees above that were so fun to watch Such a great experience, we hope to be back someday, thank you Juan! (PS, We enjoyed the adjacent el patio cafe so much we had meals there four times)

We had a wonderful week at Juan’s place in Santa Teresa. Woke up to birds chirping and a few howler moneys too. Easy walk to the beach for morning dips and surfing. 6am surfboard rentals on the beach was really convenient. The supermarket was 200m down the road. The beds were comfy and the bedrooms had air conditioning which was lovely.

Location, location, location! We really enjoyed having our own "oasis" right in town, with very close proximity to the beach. It was so convenient to have access to many, many wonderful restaurants - all within walking distance. El Patio Cafe is connected to the property and has excellent breakfast and lunch food. Our favorite part of each day was walking to the beach for the most beautiful sunset. We were able to walk to the beach in just a few minutes, which was very convenient, as it was quite hot when we were there and we often needed to return to the property to cool down in the pool. The pool was small, but all we needed to relax and unwind after some time in the hot sun. The property has several neighbors, but noise was never an issue at night, as each bedroom has air conditioning. As noted, this is outdoor living, so be prepared for evening critters (raccoon) and ants/bugs (bug zappers on site that help with it). We saw howler monkeys during our stay. We will return!

This place is really special. We were five people spending the whole week outside in the open air kitchen and living area while the monkeys were sitting above us in the trees and Kolibris flying around in the small garden. The area is perfect, a bit outside of the centre but still right next to restaurants and cafés (yes, you have your own entrance door to the El Patio Café!). The beautiful beach is just a two minutes walk straight from your house. Communication with Juan was excellent. It‘s not super clean and the road is quite noisy but that‘s everywhere in Santa Teresa due to surf dudes on too much testosteron driving motorbikes and quads. This place us truly special, highly recommended!

We had a great stay at Juans place! It is street parking but there’s always spots that are easy to use. It is right off the street so there’s quite a bit of traffic noise but barely in the closed rooms. It’s is not a 150ft walk to beach, it’s down a rough alley across the street and through the jungle where a little creek crossing is, not super suitable for anyone over the age of 50. But the beach is awesome and the sand is great walking sand, fun beach bars along the beach. BRING BUG SPRAY!! The house is completely open and even with bug spray I managed to get hundreds of bites. Also there’s nothing at the house to take to the beach to sit on so if you’re fine with just a beach towel you’re good but no chairs or unbrellas. Juan is super responsive and super kind and his cafe right in front of the house is delicious and must be tried! Would come back!

Staying at this home was perfect for me and my girl friends for our trip. Location is perfect, a little bit on the more quiet side of town but just as accessible to the more lively areas as well. We loved how close it was to the beach, the easy access to El Patio Restaurant next door (try the Super Special Smoothie Bowl!) and the outdoor living layout. Highly recommend & would love to come back ◡̈ pura vida!

We- a group of 8- had a wonderful stay at Juan’s place! We The location is perfect, just a minute from the amazing beach and some good restaurants, and the house was spacious, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed staying in a couple of nights, cooking dinner in the outdoor kitchen. Since the house is so open to the outdoors, we had some visits by various critters and animals, something to keep in mind for those who aren’t used to that. Juan was always responsive and helpful if we needed anything, and even let us stay a few extra hours since we had a late departure.

We stayed here over Christmas and the place was perfect. Very central and just across the road from the beach. We loved the outdoor living lifestyle 😍 Really easy to find and having the cafe right next door was ideal Loved hearing the howler monkeys that live in the trees above!! A couple of nights we had raccoons invade the kitchen, even though food was sealed/put away they managed to move the chairs aside and get into the cupboards!! So just an FYI to put all food in the fridge/take into your bedrooms!

Juan’s place is wonderfully located on the northern edge of town—extremely central and just a 5-minute walk to the surf breaks, with some of the best restaurants close by as well. Being so central, you do hear some street noise, but it’s a tradeoff for the convenience. Aside from the bedrooms and bathrooms, everything is outdoors, which really lets you enjoy Costa Rica’s beautiful nature and laid-back lifestyle. Juan was a very responsive host and answered all of our questions promptly. Cleaning service came every other day, which was much appreciated. All around, a great stay!

We absolutely loved our stay at Juan’s place. Great surf right across the street, amazing cafe right next door. I loved cooking in the outdoor kitchen. The pool was refreshing. The AC was cold. Very spacious. Juan was super helpful with ATV rentals. So glad we chose to stay here. Can’t wait to come back!
