The location was great, nearby many beautiful beaches. Spacious enough for two people and the dogs on the property were adorable. Lots of kitchen supplies. However, the bathroom was very different from the pictures. There was no mirror and it was slightly dirty. There were a lot of bugs within the room, although I know that is not the fault of the host. It gets VERY hot at night with no AC, but the fans help a bit. The kitchen utensils were unclean. there is a basketball court but the ball was flat. The whole outdoor kitchen area was totally unusable, even though there is a pizza oven advertised. The price for what we got was okay, but i think it could have been a lot more cleanly.

Host Response

Hi Isabella, we are sorry that the casita did not live up to your standards. We don't get complaints about cleanliness, as Kenia is very thorough in cleaning. It's rainy season; we can't control rain/mud, heat and mosquito's. That's Nicaragua. It's clear in the ad that we have fans, and since it's a flat area there will be mosquitos, especially in rainy season. You have a cute house for yourself, with garden and patio. All for only $30. I will look at the ad; the roofed area outside can be used to dine and relax, but it's not a kitchen. You could have asked Kenia for a basketball; maybe it was in the other casita. Or she could have bought you one. I feel you are not being reasonable. The casita is a charming place, you can't get anything like that, so close to the beaches, for that price. If you want AC and no mosquitos go for it, but be prepared to pay double.

We loved our stay! You definitely would need a car or bike to stay here but we rented a scooter for our entire time so it was perfect. We loved being outside of town and with the new highway it’s only a 5 min drive to playa Marsella and playa maderas which we loved! Kenia who helped us with our stay was absolutely wonderful and so kind! I accidentally lost the keys and she was extremely helpful and kind with the situation. The dogs are so sweet and fun to come home to every time :) we are deep sleepers and they never woke us up! It would be nice in the future to put up a mosquito net, bring your bug spray! I got especially bit at night when I got into bed. Overall enjoyed the stay :)

Great little spot in the forest, with limited pots & pans. Our challenges were barking dogs deep into the night, and now that the new highway is in, traffic noise (industrial & consumer) was evident throughout the night. The internet & power went out several times. We understand that power & noise are not under the control of the host, but it affected our satisfion with our stay. The host was very responsive and helped as much as they could.

We basically use the accommodation in general to sleep. We were very interested in its location. The surroundings and the exit in the rainy season are very muddy, which made our mobility a bit difficult, but that is not a problem with the accommodation. The accommodation lacks certain amenities that we will discuss with Usha in particular and I'm sure she will solve them, since her willingness was good at all times. The dogs on the property are charming. Kenia, our contact person, was always available. The arrival was a bit chaotic since it was night and raining so all the references we had were not seen as everything was completely dark, but we were able to communicate and finally found it. The wifi works well and the beach is really a 10-minute walk away.

It’s always a pleasure to get back to Usha’s comfortable and nature-friendly place to spend some days surfing at the Maderas beach

We absolutely loved our stay in Usha's place! It was a quiet, rustic house in the middle of an amazing garden - you can hear birds, crickets and howler monkeys all day long. The beach is a nice 10min walk away and it is one of the best beaches we've ever visited. The only distutbance are the property doga barking the whole evening in front of our door, which made it a bit difficult to sleep. Still, apart from this we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed with Usha in the cottage for a month and felt very comfortable there. The accommodation is quiet, and yet everything is easily accessible – beaches, streets, public transport and even a market around the corner. The communication with Usha was super straightforward. Even if she was not on site, she was always easily accessible by message – always friendly and attentive. Thank you for that 🌸 A big thank you also to Kenia, the co-host, who was always friendly, available and very helpful. 💛 We felt completely comfortable🌸

A beautiful and magical place to disconnect from everything!

There was no drinking water, we bathed with water from a bucket and we never had WiFi

Host Response

There was water. I have reported you: you have harassed my property manager and me. You lie about everything: there were towels, there was water, my property manager is the kindest woman, etc, etc. We have tried to make you feel at home, but you only complained and refused to communicate about your complaints, so we could not solve (non-existent) problems. You were drunk, complained you could not swim in the sea, and did not elaborate on that, etc, etc. You even discriminated against me. I'm a superhost: my guests are like my family, children or friends. Please stop the lies.

I enjoyed my stay at Ushua's place. The location is very quiet, we hear and see a lot of birds and the two dogs present are absolutely adorable. Ushua gave me great recommendations and helped me a lot during my stay. Recommended!

The Airbnb is simple and has a nice rustic vibe. The kitchen has everything necessary to cook some meals. It’s within walking distance from playa marsella and playa maderas and to get there it’s a nice forest walk. The house is surrounded by nature so every morning you wake up with bird and monkey sounds. Usha is amazing and very sweet. We had some issues with wifi and water, but nothing that bothered us. Still she resolved the issues with us very well. Thank you so much for the hospitality!

Our stay at Usha & Pepijn's was top notch. We were picked up by car, which was very pleasant and then we were super well received in this magical place. The casita is very cosy and nicely decorated. The beach is within walking distance, so we picked up the sunset almost every evening. When we needed anything we only had to ask and we were immediately spoken to and helped. We were even able to enjoy a delicious homemade pizza one night. Inspiring couple we had very nice chats with. Thank you Usha & Pepijn, you were more than a regular host! In short, highly recommended.

Ah wat lief. Fijn. Jullie waren topgasten we vonden het heel gezellig!

Usha and her family are super friendly and helpful. We arrived in town during a strong thunderstorm. Since they still had to go shopping in town, Pepijn picked us up there. The accommodation is a bit remote, but can also be easily reached with a shuttle. We were surrounded by monkeys. Due to the thunderstorm we also had a power outage, but that wasn't a problem for us. The cottage is very nice and you can just enjoy your time there. A beach is within walking distance. You can also do laundry for a small fee, which we use directly. We had a very nice time :)

Myself and my partner loved our stay at the casita! Usha and her husband were always very friendly and helpful but gave us a good amount of space to relax during our stay. We rented a motorbike since the house is a bit out of town and it worked perfectly for us. I would 100% stay again! The only unfortunate thing is the road works but it is happening everywhere in the area at the moment and Usha made sure to let us know beforehand so it was no problem. We were out most of the days anyway. Had a great time :)

Usha and Pepijn were very accommodating, helpful and friendly hosts! 💎 Their Airbnb Casita is lovely and spacious, nice & homely interior design, provided with internet, private terrace, filtered drinking water from the tap, well equipped kitchen and it’s just a short 12 min walk from Playa Marsella which is a beautiful and not-so-crowded beach. 🌊☀️ Also: gorgeous market cafe ‘Machete’ is very close by. ☺️🙌🏻 My friend and I absolutely enjoyedi our stay! Thank you for a good time. 🤲🏻

Ushas place was very unique! Extremely remote, so if your looking for piece and quite away from town this is the place. With there garden surrounding the property you get a relaxing feel. You do come across the occasional scorpion in your towel so just be aware! But nothing out the ordinary for this area. The road to get there is really tough to navigate and needs a 4x4 to get to in the rainy season. So ask about pick up from Usha for a small fee. Definitely worth it,don't think a taxi could get you there. Over all a great experience especially for the price.

Thanks Britney, it was our pleasure having you! Yes, the road is bad now due to the rains. We will fix that when the truck can deliver the gravel. And then there's the new road Costanera being built. The rains will be over soon too so then the current road will be good. Sorry it gave you inconvenience.

This accommodation is a very special place - and we‘re very happy to found it. The family is extrem helpfull and took good care of us, those days. We were here without a car, what is quite a bit difficult - means a lot of walking. Anyway, the next beach is easy to reach and thanks to the family, we didn‘t need a car. They brought us the necessary things from the town, lent us Flip Flops, picked us up at the busstation and so we had time to surf and enjoy the nature. The little house we lived in, is really cute and you‘ll find a great place, to relax and calm down. Especially the lights were the most beautiful, we had at our journey, very warm and cosy. If there are any problems, they owners fix it as fast as possible! Take care, that you bring enough Cash-money - there‘s absolut no ATM arround ☝🏻! Thanks for everything

Usha’s place would be a perfect find for nature lovers as it is located basically inside the jungle. It’s safe, quiet and peaceful as well as super close to the beaches to surf at. Usha and Pepijn are a very friendly couple, ready to come to help virtually at any moment. Bottom line, this tiny house is worth its price.

lovely tiny house within the midst of nature. all basic equipment for daily life is provided. drinkable water from the groundwater well on the property. usha and pepijn are in any case always there to help you! :-) wifi down- and upload rate was around 10Mbit/s, thus suitable for streaming and video calls. a motorbike or a 4x4 is highly recommended since there is a river crossing. just a few min drive to the terrific surf spot playa maderes. enjoy your stay

Usha and Pepjin are really good hosts. They are always active when needs be. The place is an hidden oasis, really peaceful, with nature around (after some days seeing monkeys in trees above your head starts to be a normal thing). You have all amenities you might desire; also they have coffee (and spices !) which was a huge plus for us coffee lovers. The location is a 10 minute walk to the closest beach Marsella. A more intensive walk will get you to Maderas beach, which is perfect for surfing. If you want to be in peace and come back to yourself - this is the place.

Thank you for our unexpected Dog-Retreat ✨🙏🏼 we enjoyed the first night at Usha and family's place. Everyone was very welcoming and open-minded and gave us some helpful tips. The tiny cottage offers everything that you need and it is sweetly furnished. In the morning you woke up with monkey sounds and could enjoy a coffee on the porch☀️ would gladly come back.
