4BR Villa

Jessica

Good, 1 month ago

Our family enjoyed the villa and the views of the bay. We had Chef Alfonso prepare breakfast and dinner each day which was fantastic! Small town of Playa Hermosa is a 5 minute drive but we enjoyed the peaceful mornings and evenings. Main attractions (ATV, Zipline, larger towns/beaches) were accessable since we rented a car for our stay but a decent 30+ minutes and the Liberia airport is close and super easy to fly international to Los Angeles. The home is nice and in pretty good condition, the turf and bocce were out of commission during our stay.

Host Response

We are very sorry about the bocce court. We had a very bad storm the week before and destroyed our court. We are rebuilding the court and will be up a running brand new in a few days.

We had an incredible week at Villa Costa Mar in Playa Hermosa with our family. It truly felt like our own private hotel. The kids loved the pool, the views were stunning, and it was easy to get down to the beach or enjoy great nearby excursions. Edwin, the private chef, was a highlight—his meals were phenomenal, blending local dishes with exactly what we wanted. Service was excellent, and Richard arranged a mid-week refresh, which we really appreciated. A couple of tips: be clear on budgets, meals, and timing with Luis, the house manager, to avoid confusion. There is some normal wear, but it’s clearly a well-loved place. The road has been redone, and access felt very safe and easy. Overall, a great stay!

The view is STUNNING!!! The layout of the house is lovely, especially if you are traveling with multiple families. The host is very responsive and has wonderful recommendations in the area. The gentlemen who lives on the property (separate building), Luis, was very responsive and helpful! It is Costa Rica so there are bugs, but they did end up in the house more than I thought they would. The pool is beautiful, but a little chilly even for the beautiful weather. We loved our stay here and would definitely love to return.

We had a great stay here with both grandmas and our 6-year old twins. Felt comfortable and of course the best part of the house are the amazing views! We loved exploring different beaches and then coming back every afternoon to that amazing pool and view. You could just book and never leave the house! Highly recommend bosco tour sunset cruise that Alan set up for us. It was a highlight of our trip! Juan was very responsive and had many helpful tips. Of course, being in the rainforest and rainy season the bugs and insects were everywhere, so come prepared for that. ( I wasn’t). Thank you for a great stay!

We just stayed for a week over Spring break, liked the house but did not love it. While the view is really nice it’s a little hard to get to, up some steep hills on a very poor dirt road (even harder when you try and get back at night). Not sure on exact difference but it could be .75 miles just to get down to the main road, just took longer than expected. It’s close to playa Hermosa and probably 15-20 minutes to Playa Coco. We had chef Juan come 3 times and he was definitely a big highlight of the trip. He made some memorable meals and even better fresh fruit margaritas. It was nice to stay in at night with the kids and not have to deal with driving back down the dirt road! The house is more dated than in the pictures. The golf greens were fun but poorly maintained and the bocce court has not been used or updated in a long time. We had some issues with ants the first night but Luis came and sprayed the next day which made things better. We loved how big the house is, plenty of space f

Beautiful location, view is absolutely stunning! Very spacious accommodations for a multi-family trip. Not a deal breaker, but keep in mind the road up to the home is a dirt road that was being dug up every day. The expectation is to be waiting for periods of time for them to clean the road of the construction dirt piles to be able to pass. There is also a VERY loud security alarm that goes off whenever the power goes out (which is daily) that we knew nothing about. This led to a 3am wake up the first night, scouring the house to see if everything was ok and if we were safe, having no idea what it was, or how to disable the alarm. The apartment home on the property also did not have hot water in the shower for the duration of the trip. All in all, an amazing place- just a few things to consider when traveling with little kids. Beautiful monkeys on the property daily as well.
