3BR Villa

Excellent, 4 weeks ago

We had a wonderful stay in La Fortuna. The villa was beautiful, but the view was what truly took our breath away. After busy days exploring, returning to this peaceful retreat was the perfect way to relax. Watching colorful frogs on the balcony, spotting parrots and toucans in the trees, hearing howler monkeys in the jungle, and admiring Arenal Volcano on clear days made every moment extremely special. The road to the property is a bit bumpy, but the spectacular scenery quickly makes you forget about it. The host was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay, and the travel agency they recommended was outstanding, handling every detail so we could simply enjoy our vacation. Overall, the breathtaking views, abundant wildlife, and peaceful setting made this a memorable stay that we would definitely recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nido Arenal truly feels like a nest perched in the tree tops, with beautiful jungle views. We had tree frog porch pets every evening and could see so many toucans in the trees outside. Loved the howler monkeys calling in the distance each morning from the mist. The peaceful fountain and jungle sounds were a joy to wake up to. The house is beautiful and spacious, pool is warm with a perfect view of the volcano, which is also framed by the windows in each room. It really is a little slice of heaven here, feels very private and removed but only 15 min to LaFortuna and all of the activities are nearby.

Amazing Concierge & Views, But Lacked Indoor Comfort Our stay in La Fortuna had highlights, but the house didn't match our expectations. The Highlights: Concierge: Truly impeccable! The best service I’ve experienced. They texted daily itineraries and handled all planning effortlessly. Views: Beautiful scenery when clear. Great for outdoor enthusiasts who prefer lower-amenity stays. Things to Consider: Drive: The access road is extremely rough and takes 18 minutes, adding 20 extra minutes to every trip. Comfort & Amenities: AC is only in bedrooms, making main rooms hot and muggy. A screened wall opening let rain in every night, leaving floors wet and slippery. Issues: Bathrooms smelled like sewer the whole stay, and the washer was impossible to figure out. Heavy fog meant we only saw the volcano once. Beautiful setting, but due to difficult access and air conditioning issues I probably wouldn’t stay again. I would choose to stay closer in town.

Loved the pool and being from TX thought it strange to be heated BUT we found it was actually awesome and was a highlight. Loved early mornings on patio with lots of toucans and at night several of the colorful frogs. Heard the monkeys but never saw them. Bedroom mini splits worked great and beds and linens super comfortable. Easy drive into town and lots of great restaurants. Staff super responsive even when we got lost in the dark rainstorm-head the warning to arrive in light but once we sun came up you have an awesome view of forest

Amazing trip! Host and concierge were responsive and super helpful. I do not recommend a late arrival because it’s about 3 hours from SJO airport and the roads are windy and foggy and the house is rough to get to (as described in listing). House is BEAUTIFUL!! Larger than the pics show and truly amazing views. Because of location- be aware of critters, insects, frogs inside the house. The hosts were helpful with these concerns and came to clean up all the bugs one day. Please note you can’t drink the water at the house- but a filter is provided- you also can not flush TP and I think this is common is a lot of the area- The bedroom air conditioning works great but it gets warm in the living room/ kitchen area as there is no AC. It is a treck to get into town due to the 2 miles of rough road- so just be prepared as you plan your day- you will not want to go back and forth multiple times. Overall great stay for our family of 6- thank you to the hosts!
