4BR Villa in Tamarindo

Excellent, 2 months ago

Loved this place. We will return.

I concur with many of the points previously made, so I don't need to reiterate them. The rooms are tremendous, the view spectacular, and the pool and grounds are great. The service is excellent.  It is indeed difficult to access the beach; however, you can take your car and go down that very steep hill and park it at the bottom, by the gate. The beach will be private and worth it. Nice shallow, sandy, warm waters with great surf. The water is spectacular; we were pleased, as you will be.  The dishwasher is a pain, but that was mentioned in other posts. We left our boogie boards and pool floaties (2) for you all to enjoy. It looks like great food to eat; just follow the advice sent out in the pdf, and all will be well.  Wild Rider is insanely marvellous; do not rent with anyone else, for your 4x4 vehicles.

We are 3 couples who love traveling together and experiencing new places. Some of us brought boards and went surfing everyday. Some of us explored on our own and we all did fun things together! Todd’s home is a perfect place for all of that to happen and more. The pool is amazing and we were in it for hours everyday! (We brought hammock floats). The kitchen is well stocked. We had all the essentials for the cooking we did but we also went out to fabulous restaurants most days. Marlon was most helpful in arranging the zip lining and was prompt to answer all of our questions. Would definitely stay again if we return to Dominical.

We would definitely stay in Todd’s place agin. Todd and Marlon (who manages the house) were very responsive and easy to communicate with. The view is amazing, and the house is close enough to the ocean that you can hear the waves crashing on the beach. Having a pool to cool off in is a huge plus. The bedrooms are large and the beds very comfortable. The bathrooms could use some updates, though this was our first stay and Costa Rica, and I don’t have a good point of comparison with other houses. I’ll also note that, while the place is technically walkable to a beach, it’s quite the hike to get back up to the house. Finally, we really enjoyed the Dominical area. Highlights included surfing lessons from Sunset Surf, snorkeling at Cano Island, the fish tacos at El Pescado Loco, and the food and drinks at Fuego Brewing Company.

This is a beautiful place, fabulous ocean view and you can hear the waves. The bad part was the road to get to the home. So steep our shuttle driver wouldn't take us up it when we arrived. We were 4 couples, age 60. The walk up and down is not pleasant and it preventing us from walking on the beach morning, noon and night like we wanted to. We needed to pick our poison, once a day was about it. Otherwise, an awesome place and pool. Great place to hang out and enjoy the view and sunset.

This home was absolutely perfect for our family's stay. Big and bright, with spectacular views. We enjoyed the pool and deck immensely, not to mention the daily feeding of the friendly iguanas in the yard. Conveniently located right in Dominical - with multiple beaches to choose from. Dominical is a laid-back, funky place with a range of restaurants, bars, street vendors -- we could have spent the entire week just hanging out there. But the place is also close to fun excursions - we took advantage of dolphin watching, horseback riding to the waterfalls, and explored a few other little towns in the area. Marlon was a very helpful and accessible house manager. Really really great vacation!!!

We spent a week at Villa Alegria with 4 couples and had an incredible time. Todd has excellent communication. The house is perfectly set up so that everyone has their own private bedroom and bathroom. The rooms are huge, with tons of wardrobe space. Two bedrooms are on the main floor and two on the upper level. The pool is a must have, especially if you’re walking up the steep driveway at the end of the day! We enjoyed it so much and it has the most perfect view of the sunset. We rented a 15 seater van and that was a great decision. The beach is definitely walkable but it is a challenging climb, especially if you are bringing a surfboard up and down. You want to make sure you have a confident driver in your group, as the roads and driveways are not for the faint of heart! Marlon the property manager was incredible and organized everything for us ahead of time, including ziplining, private chef and our COVID tests to return home. We had chef Donald and his wife Jolene, and team cook for us the first night we arrived and for all three meals the next day. Everything was delicious and it was so nice to have food taken care of while we took time to explore Dominical and get our bearings. Highly recommend. The kitchen is well equipped and worked well for breakfast but honestly it’s cheaper and better to just eat your meals in town. Top restaurant recommendations: Cafe En Sueno (breakfast) Del Mar Taco shop Fuego Restaurant La Parcela (monkeys if you go for a late lunch or early dinner!) We did a surf lesson with Dominical WaveRider and they are amazing. Incredible instructors; all 8 of us got up on the boards. We rented some boards for the week from them and had a blast surfing in Dominical and Dominicalito. Also highly recommend ziplining at Hacienda Baru. It’s only a 5 min drive from the house and was so much fun. The guides are so kind and knowledgeable. Costa Rica is incredible and Villa Alegria is an amazing home base! It was very clean, really well set up (even had large beach bags in each bedroom to use) and the beds, linens and towels were excellent quality. Would recommend wholeheartedly.
