We loved our stay in LaFortuna! This 3 bedroom, 3 bath AirB&B was perfect for our party of five. Mary coached us through our arrival a bit, but when we got to the home it was easy to enter & felt so safe & secure. Everything was exactly as described, the open floor plan was so inviting, but everyone still had their own space to relax & unwind. The pool was perfect after a day of hiking & the beds were really comfortable & firm. Mary provided a sloth tour recommendation that we went back to twice (one time unguided & the second time as a guided tour- I highly recommend the GUIDED tour, it was well worth it!). There are some really great restaurants in town where we had unforgettable meals. We also were able to easily drove out to zip lines, waterfalls, hot springs and Sloffee Coffee (mmmmmm!) from the house, as it was located close to all attractions. Check out was super easy too. Mary was easy to communicate with & the house was perfect. I absolutely would recommend staying here!!
Mary’s house was lovely. We had a tough time finding the house with Waze but Google Maps helped. We liked our stay, but only 2 rooms were available, not three which was disappointing. The cleaning people were also there at exactly 11 am so make sure you’re ready and out of there before then.
This place is a gem with a unique design, a beautiful pool and landscaping that attracted a lot of pretty birds.
Safe, clean and comfortable. The pool was a huge perk! Location felt very safe and in a walkable area. Nice view of the volcano. It was a touch difficult to find if you don’t have Waze - so worth downloading that app (for her and all of Costa Rica). Mary was an excellent and responsive host. There is no washer & dryer but local laundry service was easy to use. We would definitely stay again!
The house was clean and neat. There aren’t any closets space in the rooms so you need to manage out of your suitcase. There is no door in the master bathroom so you need to be very comfortable with the person staying in the bedroom 😬 I addressed these issues to Mary and she took it under consideration. Overall, beautiful house.
We had some trouble finding but Mary was so responsive to assist us with directions. The home was as pictured and a delight to stay in. Quiet and picturesque with the beautiful view of Arenal Mountain. I would definitely stay here again.
The house itself is decent, and mostly clean but It’s just like what others said, it does need a little bit of renovation. Also there’s only 1 giant door for both car and people. Kind of inconvenient to lock every time you have to go out. But Mary is truly amazing, she is really helpful and responsive and the location is great as well.
The place is in a good location. The instructions and the hosts are a bit fussy. At night we had a blackout where we couldn't reconnect to the Internet. All the rooms had a television, the kitchen was equipped but the oven did not heat with much power. The pool was nice, the place allows you to share. Mary's responses were always very quick.
Very nice place with a great, responsive host. Pool and kitchen were super clean. A/C worked well in the bedrooms. Beautiful views of the volcano when the fog cleared up. Would stay again!
Excellent house, very nice. The toilet in the pool room is still bad, we had to go to another one because the water didn't go down properly. The pool is very nice and the rooms are very comfortable to sleep in. I feel like the place could be a little cheaper at night, but otherwise very clean and spacious.
We stayed at Mary’s Airbnb for a group trip and really loved the property. The house is spacious, beautifully designed, and perfect for relaxing together. The pool is a little smaller than it looks in the photos, but it was still big enough for 5–6 people to enjoy at once. One thing to be aware of is the bathroom setup—there are no partitions between the bathrooms and bedrooms. This wasn’t a big issue for us, but it could feel awkward if you’re traveling with friends who prefer more privacy. Another important note: you’ll want to rent a car. We didn’t have one for the first few days, and getting around was tough since the nearest markets and restaurants are about a 20-minute walk away. Once we had a car, everything was much easier, safer, and more enjoyable. Also, there’s no front door entrance; you have to go through the driveway gates each time, which can be tricky alone. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would recommend it for groups looking for a beautiful, relaxing space.
