Excellent, 8 months ago

We had a wonderful time in this original place. Everything worked out great.

Thank you so much, we’re happy that you enjoyed your stay so much

We had a wonderful 4 days. The terrace in the jungle with all the animals coming to see us, it was just magical. The shower outside can be a little scary with the insects but in fact it's super nice. Super comfortable bedding, under the stars. The kitchen is simple but super efficient. Superbly located accommodation in a quiet area. The only noise was the howler monkeys, but we forgive them! Anyway, it was perfect! Thank you so much! ☺️

Thank you!

Dagmar & Daniel’s Tree Loft is safe but secluded - very peaceful. You will need to rent an ATV/car or have reliable available taxi contact to get around. (Otherwise it’s a ~40 min walk in hilly/curving roads.) There are a couple of restaurants within 1km of the loft, otherwise Cobano and Montezuma are each 3-5km away for restaurants or grocery shopping. Beautiful views of the greenery and sunrise from the loft. I met both Dagmar and Daniel briefly and both are very kind and helpful.

Host Response

Thank you, it was a pleasure hosting you. A car or ATV is great to explore the area and beaches, but to get to town you can also easily catch the local bus from the main road at Ticozuma Hotel, which is a 5 min walk from us. And yes, we are also happy to share reliable taxi driver contacts. All the best to you Lena!

Amazing accommodation, one of the best we've ever had. The views of the jungle, ocean and stars at night are breathtaking. It is very pleasant to wake up in the morning to the sounds of nature (howler monkeys and birds). We saw lots of different birds (including Macaw parrots) from the balcony and howler monkeys at the entrance of the property's path! The kitchen is very functional, the shower and toilet in hyper original exteriors and the bed (with view of the stars) is very comfortable. We were sad to leave and will come back without hesitation if we have a chance!

Thank you so much, it was a pleasure hosting you ☀️ come back any time.

Firstly, this property is a gem insofar it is very different, extremely well designed with attention to creative/practical detail, and set in a quiet forest location overlooking a tree canopy. Directions to locate are very clear. I would recommend anyone visiting (wet or dry seasons) to use a 4x4 (ours rental proved its worth in the area with well-potholed roads (some paved, some unpaved). Communication on various issues/questions was generally good but the airbnb messaging platform didn't always work 100% so worth considering wotsapp for anything important. We loved sitting on the terrace looking at the birds, squirrel, listening to howler monkeys. We have stayed at 160+ airbnbs around the World and I would put this one in the top 1% for its originality. Secondly, we were very unfortunate it rained heavily for 80% of our stay. We drove twice to nearby town for groceries . Two visits to beach were effectively wash outs. Go in the Dry season ! Memorable !

I’m sure rain season played a major part in how my stay went but as far as my interactions with the hosts once I decided to relocate to a more comfortable situation, deplorable.

Host Response

It's quite obvious that things didn't go well with your stay and I just want to state some facts here: You came during a hurricane and despite that we tried everything to make you comfortable, we fixed the shower head 30 min after you complained, you couldn't light the oven with a lighter and we showed you how it works, we brought you an extra fan and still all you could do was complain to airbnb and request a refund, which we accepted. Looks like it worked out better for both sides that you didn't stay 3 weeks as planned, because clearly Costa Rica during the rainy season was not the right place for you to be. I am very sorry it was such an unfortunate situation for all parties involved, because as you can read in all our other reviews all our guests are actually quite happy when staying with us.

My first Airbnb asked me to find another place due to them not having electricity, I messaged Dagmar and the cohost Xime responded right away and accommodated me immediately. She provided very clear instructions, and answered all of my many questions and request for recommendations. I have found one of my favorite spots in Montezuma and will be returning., the only concerns I had were with the mosquitoes. They were really attracted to me so I would advise bringing multiple. Repellent zapper mosquito nets whatever you can. It also can get really hot in the container, but the outside shower was very helpful and refreshing. I didn’t use many of the amenities, but they have a fully stocked kitchen and the design and artwork were beautifully displayed. Thank you for saving me and giving me a great stay.

Host Response

Dear Ravynn, thank you so much for your kind review. We’re sorry to hear about the moskitoes, you came at the beginning of the rainy season when they can be quite annoying. We have the big screened window and the fan that usually help keep them out, but we will consider adding another screen to the door. I look forward to meeting you when you come back, wish you all the Best, thanks for choosing our treeloft.

Unique unit that was exactly as advertised. In addition, communication throughout the entire process was perfect and Daniel was extremely helpful during our stay. We enjoyed birdwatching from both decks and the sunrise views ensured every day started beautifully. The location was also exactly what we were looking for, private, yet still an easy drive to all the area has to offer. Also really appreciated the artwork in the unit and it was clear that a lot of thought has gone into ensuring visitors enjoy their stay.

Absolutely lovely stay, my partner and I needed to wind down after being in Nosara and the hustle and bustle of Santa Teresa. It was the perfect end to our trip… Gorgeous place, extremely clean and nestled in the jungle. Amazing windows and the shower was our favorite part. A bit of a ways down to downtown Montezuma but not too much of a hassle. Dagmar and Daniel were extremely hospitable. The best hosts I’ve encountered on AirBnb, super down-to-earth, knowledgeable of the area (both have lived in CR for decades), and overall awesome to talk to. Definitely making our way over to Montezuma if we find ourselves in CR again. Highly recommended.

Host Response

Thank you so much, it was great having you as neighbors for a while 😊

Dagmar’s place is a lovely little oasis outside of Montezuma. The bed was super comfortable and the outdoor shower was incredible! I really enjoyed lounging in the hammock and watching the sunrise each morning. Two important things to note: 1) This was on me for not reading carefully, but there’s no A/C here! It was mostly doable at night but as someone who gets hot easily, I was a bit uncomfortable. There is a small fan, which is helpful, as well as lots of windows to open, but something to keep in mind if you’re also this way. 2) I rented a car and would say this is a must for staying here. You could walk into town, but it’s a bit far and quite steep. However, driving into Montezuma was super easy (maybe 10 minutes tops) and I personally liked being in a more laid-back, residential area. Thanks Dagmar, Daniel, and Xime for a lovely stay!

Stay for 4 nights. We were greeted by the host, Dagmar, who gave us a tour of the premises. The place was more than perfect. The comfortable bed, from which we were able to observe the full moon and stars, functional kitchen, shower and awesome outdoor toilet. Extraordinary vegetation, tons of birds. The howler monkeys and the sounds of the jungle are very present. It's really the highlight of our trip when it comes to hosting. We didn't have a car, so we walked downtown the first day without a problem. The lift is really intense (even impossible for us), so we took the local bus back to the loft. The bus spends every 3 hours. Knowing the time of the lift, we were able to coordinate to catch the bus to get down the other times. Dagmar is very approachable and responds quickly to messages. We would definitely recommend this place!

Firstly Dagmar and Daniel are such lovely people and there is such a wonderful energy at their property, they gave great recommendations and were super quick to respond and help with anything we needed. The property itself is truly stunning, we loved being able to star gaze and sit outdoors watching the birds and the monkeys which sometimes chill nearby! If you're looking for some peace and restoration whilst still being close by to loads of things to do then I would 100% recommend! Thank you for the best start to our trip ❤️

Thank you so much for your kind review, it always makes us happy to see our guests enjoy our treeloft. It was a pleasure to meet and host you.

If you are looking for your own little Jungle Oasis, look no further!! The Treeloft was everything described and more. This shipping container has been transformed into a beautiful, peaceful sanctuary with big windows and sliding glass doors adding a spaciousness, airy feel. The big skylight/window combination is something I fell in love with and already miss. Getting to lay in comfort under the stars, beautiful blue skies, or the occasional rain storm was so magical! The balcony and outdoor shower add even more space, along with a wonderful hammock. Being a yogi, the wooden deck they built on top of the container unit with its amazing views backed up to the gorgeous jungle trees, quickly became my favorite spot! Imagine doing yoga watching the sun rise over the misty mountains. Or Sunset Yoga while a troop of howler monkeys passes by!! Felt safe as a Solo Female traveler & the Internet was fast! I could go on forever but, I’m running out of space😂 Trust me,book it!

Thank you dear, it was great to host you for a month and we hope you'll choose us again when coming back to Montezuma. All the Best to you!

I recommend it 100%. A wonderful stay! It feels like home, the place has a positive and serene energy. Perfect for disconnecting. Great location to get to the beach. Restaurants and small shops nearby. Dagmar is a woman whose kindness you feel. It's cozy, simple, clean, charming and functional. Plus: falling asleep while admiring the stars, taking a shower outside, and waking up when you hear the monkeys and birds.

Host Response

thank you 😊 we hope you’ll be back one day!

This was the most beautiful air b and b I’ve stayed at. It was secluded in nature and surrounded by so much beauty. The outdoor shower and hammock were amazing- truly a place to rest and nurture! The town is a little far for walking but it is easy to call a taxi, catch the bus or flag down a ride from someone. Dagmar and Daniel were so kind and welcoming- and their cat Shivani is very cute and friendly:) I will definitely be back!

Host Response

Thank you so much, it was so nice to meet you! enjoy the rest of your travels.

We ended up cancelling right after check in. The host became fairly rude once we arrived. For example we were told the location of the key and once we arrived we could not find where she was talking about. When we asked the response we were received was that she already told us where it was. It ended up being in a different spot then the original place we were told. We rented a motorcycle from her which she told us she privately rented out to only guests (later found out it was her friends that rented it out and not her). We paid the security guard for it and had a feeling we overpaid. When we asked Dagmar to get him to recount he said we overpaid by a very minor amount. We ended up returning the bike and when we were given our money back it had turned out that we over paid by a lot more than we were told. The location is also far from the town. It is too far and the hill is too steep to walk so you must rent a bike or take a taxi ($15 a way) and can be hard to reach a taxi driver.

Host Response

Dear Leah, just to clarify a few things: You said you were experienced to drive a motorbike and when you started to drive it it became clear right away that you were not experienced to drive on these roads/hills. Accidents happen all the time and we didn't want to be responsible if anything would happen, so it was to protect you and not to be rude. You altered your dates 3 times before arrival, then asked for early check in at 12 which we granted, to then decide by 4pm to cancel your reservation for the week and not only leave us with bad energy, but also loss of rent. I am amazed by your review, to insult my security guy and myself by saying we would have tried to keep money from you just shows that you're not a very kind person. As you can read in all other reviews we make our guests very comfortable, communicate friendly and with clear instructions and help them with whatever they need. Looks like it was probably for the best after all that you decided to leave. I hope you found somewhere else what you were looking for. As for the transportation it is clear in the description (and reviews from other happy guests) that you can catch a local bus 5 min walking from us, catch easily rides to/from town and also get taxis. Since you didn't even stay one day I wonder how you can judge how hard it is to reach us. All the Best.

Our stay in this AirBnB in Montezuma was the absolut highlight of our trip! The „treehouse“ apartment is absolutely beautiful and you can watch the sunrise as well as the stars while hearing all the nature around you. The outdoor shower is also amazing. Dagmar was such a nice host, who even took us to her Yoga session and was incredibly kind and helpful with everything. It takes some time to walk from and to the beach/town so if you want to visit the town more often, a car or ATV would be good. Can only recommend this magic place !

Host Response

Thank you, so nice to share some days with you! All the Best!

Dagmar was the absolute sweetest and welcomed us to Costa Rica wonderfully. Prior to arrival, Dagmar sent us links to the ferry so that we could arrive to the place quicker, as this is not something we had foreseen. Upon arrival, Dagmar was quick to welcome us and gave us wonderful recommendations on the surrounding town as well for other areas we also wanted to visit. The place was spotless, private, and peaceful. An absolute dream of a stay in Costa Rica. 12/10 recommend.

Host Response

thanks! it was a pleasure hosting you. safe travels

Definitely the highlight of our stay! We loved watching the sunrise in the morning on the hammock. It’s peaceful and quiet (you can hear monkeys and birds early morning). The bathroom is outside and very clean. The outside shower is amazing. There’s also a washing machine you can use and it has everything for you to cook. The sink is downstairs outside - if you’re cooking at night you’ll have to go out to wash the dish. Not having an AC was not an issue at all for us - we didn’t even use the fan. It’s fresh enough at night and you can leave the window open except if it’s raining (there’s a mosquito protection). Also, I went to Dagmar’s yoga class (on Tuesday and Friday) in this amazing hotel next to her place. Last thing : very flexible checkin (she let us in very early) and checkout. Thank you for everything 🤩

Host Response

Thank you so much for your feedback, we loved hosting you.

We had a fantastic time at Dagmar's Airbnb. The space was built incredibly thoughtfully – the outdoor/indoor areas are very integrated, and the views of the tropical plants and sky really make you feel like you are immersed in nature. We were a bit worried about not having air conditioning, but found that opening the windows and using the fan did the trick, and it cooled down significantly at night (we visited in early January). As others have mentioned, we also loved the outdoor shower :-). I'd encourage anyone staying here to make time to chat with Dagmar and Daniel – they are lovely people and had great advice for us about Montezuma. On our last day we even went to a yoga class taught by Dagmar at one of the local hotels!

Host Response

Thank you so much!

Unforgettable experience! We warmly thank Dagmar and Daniel for their kindness, warm welcome and good advice. 🙏 A loft perched in nature, 5 minutes from Montezuma, that combines design and comfort. I think it's even more beautiful than the photos. 😊In the morning you can see the sunrise between the branches of the palm tree and in the evening the starry sky from the roof or square from the bed, thanks to the glass ceiling. As a bonus, yoga class in a setting that is also worth a visit... We only keep good memories of our stay, thank you again! 🧘‍♀️🏝️☀️💫🌖

Host Response

Thank you so much for your kind words, it was truly a pleasure hosting you and we would welcome you back any time! All the Best!

The loft was amazing, fully into nature. The view during the day & the night (stars) was perfect to relax. We directly felt like home. Dagmar was very available & share good practices during the stay. Only the access is a little bit difficult if we do not have car, but the host informed that hitchhiking was commun, we tried & finally enjoyed it a lot. Which made our stay perfect.

Host Response

Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay and catching rides was not a problem. There are also public buses regularly who stop 5 min from our place on the main road. Come back anytime :)

This Airbnb was a dream! I stayed for 1 month and loved every minute of it. I work remotely and the wifi was reliable. When the power occasionally went out, Dagmar had a hotspot that was available for use at the house which really helped relieve any anxiety about not being able to get my work done effectively. The location is absolutely amazing, the space is relatively small, but they did a great job with the design so it doesn't feel small at all. I do recommend a mode of transportation for at least some of the time during the stay since it can be quite a hike if you're lugging a lot of groceries with you. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back!

This was by far the most magical Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. It’s tucked away in the jungle, so peaceful, yet you have anything you need. Also very close to stores and restaurants. I enjoyed every second from cooking on the gas range to sleeping under the stars to doing yoga on the rooftop at sunrise. The hosts were very kind and accommodating and there anytime I needed! The community is very nice and welcoming. Better than any 5 star hotel! 10/10 recommend

Host Response

Thank you so much for your great review, you’re welcome back anytime and we’re happy that you enjoyed our space so much.

Dagmar and Daniel are nothing short of amazing. Their property is not only beautiful but it’s unique and tucked away from the hustle of busy Montezuma. Perfect if you want to experience everything Montezuma has to offer but prefer to be away from noise. Not only will you feel comfortable in their space they’ve created you’ll also be immersed in nature. We heard everything from birds to howler monkeys every day. If you have time try to take a yoga class with Dagmar, she is simply amazing.

Host Response

Thank you so much for your kind review. You were both amazing guests and we loved meeting you! All the Best!

Great home base to explore Montezuma and beyond! About 30 minute walk to Montezuma, very easy to catch the bus or a ride down. Beautiful views from the balcony, and the hammock is perfect. The open shower/bathroom is very lovely. Got to enjoy the pool in the main house a few times and it's incredible. At night, the sounds of the wildlife is very cool!

Host Response

It was a pleasure hosting you for your honeymoon, thank you for your beautiful feedback!

The place is highly recommended. The sunrise from bed, the birds and howler monkeys that wake you up in the morning. The squirrels and iguanas that you can always watch in the trees, it's really gorgeous. Very bright, beautiful balcony and a cute furnished container apartment. Our highlight was definitely the open shower, here you have to pull yourself together to conserve water:-). Thanks for the nice time and the hospitality!

Danke für eure nette review, es war super nett euch kennenzulernen und wir freuen uns das es euch bei uns so gut gefallen hat. Ihr seid jederzeit wieder gerne willkommen. Alles Gute!

This space was perfect for a home base to explore the Montezuma area as well as the Santa Teresa/Mal Pais area. It was located a short drive on a gravel road just off the main road up the hill from Montezuma central. Montezuma central is a little too busy (during high season) for our taste so this peaceful setting was perfect. It was a short drive to the Santa Teresa (30 minutes). Space looked brand new and was very clean. Owner met us at check-in so it was pretty smooth.

We had a wonderful stay in this little place of heaven in the forest. Very calm neighbourhood, in the heart of nature. The loft is amazing and the outside shower is the best shower I ever had! The communication with Dagmar and Daniel was great. As it is a bit far from town, 30 min walk, I do recommend you rent a mode of transportation as there are not that many taxi in town. The rooftop terrace is perfect for stargazing at night or to watch the sunrise. We had a great time à Dagmar’a place. 😊

Live in the smallest space with insane views. The location of the accommodation is great, wonderfully located in the forest and you can relax to the tones of nature. Good place to watch animals and enjoy lovely sunrise. The landlords are straightforward and very warm. They are happy to help and can help a lot with tips about Montezuma and its surroundings.

Danke für euren Besuch, es war schön Euch kennenzulernen! Es freut uns das es euch so gut gefallen hat, ihr seid jederzeit wieder willkommen, liebe Grüsse!

Dagmar’s place was the ideal tranquil retreat in the jungle. Beautifully designed and decorated with everything you could need for a relaxing stay. Perfectly situated between Cobano and Montezuma right off a paved road. It is ideal for partners or solo travelers. There is a great restaurant in walking distance and trails to the beach.

Host Response

Thank you Felicia, I'm so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. It was a pleasure hosting you and you're welcome anytime! All the Best to you!

Beautiful accommodation, thoughtfully :) beautiful view, quiet location. You just have to get used to the bathroom under the stars :)

Host Response

Thank you for your review, it was a pleasure meeting you. For future guest just to clarify that the bathroom is open air, but fully covered and protected with a roof and out towards the jungle, so you have privacy. Most of our guests love the outdoor bathroom, but yes, if you’re not used to it it’s a bit of a surprise the first time 😊
