Didn’t want to leave. More than enough space for our family of four. Such a wonderful place to stay with beautiful views surrounded by wildlife. The small wading pool overlooking the ocean was quite perfect and we spent many sunsets there or on the rocking chairs nearby. Howler monkeys greeted the morning letting me know it was time for coffee and to meet the sunrise. The rest of the family slept through it all lol but it was one of my favorite private joys watching the sky change over the ocean. The host was very kind and responsive, meeting us to make sure we found the house and knew how everything worked. Our flight arrived early in the morning and he arranged to allow an early check in. This was greatly appreciated after a cramped red eye! Thanks for a great stay! We hope to return some day soon 😊

Had a great stay at Casa Pastor. Great views, relaxed large space, well-stocked kitchen, and grill was great to use. Definitely have a car when staying here (note there are sections of dirt road to get in).

We absolutely loved our week at Casa Pastor. It's a truly special place. My family (two parents and three teens) wanted some peace and quiet in a lovely tropical setting, and that's exactly what we got. We're going to miss the gorgeous view, cool breezes, gardens, and outdoor living - and the howler monkeys that live in the trees behind the property! The house is very spacious and is equipped with everything a family could need. Alex is very nice to deal with and super organized, and Louis, the local property manager, is very helpful. The house is located up in the hills, quite a hike from the beach (20 minutes) and the town (40 minutes). If you're not fit, I recommend renting a car, as the walk back to the house is a bit strenuous. I would describe the house as rustic chic. Although it could use a bit of TLC and perhaps some new mattresses and pillows, it's delightful. I highly recommend it!

The location of this property can’t be beat. It’s so convenient to drive to Samara or Playa Carillo. The view is also stunning! The outdoor seating and living areas are especially wonderful. Hosts are very responsive and helpful. The property is showing its age a little.

We enjoyed our stay. The place was spacious and as described. It was helpful to have a SUV for the short dirt road to the place. Local host Louis met us to provide keys and walk through the place. The hosts were responsive during our stay. Samara beach and main part of town were short drive away. We loved the view of the ocean, howler monkeys in the trees and variety of birds hanging about. We hope to return in the future.

We had a very memorable stay at Casa Pastor. The location with the view and all the wildlife was amazing. The open plan living was new to us but we loved it. We hope to come back again !

Our family of 5 loved the house, location, and Sámara. I liked being up the mountain a bit on a safe quiet road. Great for morning exercise walks. The home is spacious and really enjoyed the outdoor living space. Howler monkeys will wake you early, but amazing experience as far we were concerned. Louis was an incredible host that was maybe the most responsive host we’ve experienced. Sámara was a wonderful town and family friendly beach. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. Thanks for a great visit!

Everything about Alex’s place and our stay was perfect. We ended up extending. Very relaxing, very quiet, surrounded by gorgeous views, lush greenery, wildlife. It’s like having your own villa estate, all to yourself. Host was extremely helpful and communicative.

Our stay at Louis and Alex’s villa was absolutely unforgettable! The villa itself is stunning—beautifully maintained, spotless, and filled with thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. The views are breathtaking, and the peaceful location is perfect for truly relaxing while still feeling completely safe and comfortable. What made this place so special was not just the villa, but the entire experience. Waking up to the sound of nature, spotting monkeys and iguanas around the property, and enjoying the serene setting was magical. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind completely yet still be close enough to explore the area easily. Louis and Alex are exceptional hosts. Louis, in particular, went above and beyond—he was always available, quick to help with anything we needed, and gave us fantastic recommendations for local restaurants, activities, and hidden gems. Their hospitality made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Highly recommended!

This was one of our top stays in a long Costa Rica trip. The house is beautiful, fantastic views, peaceful, and the howler monkeys were a great addition. Louis was very nice and responsive. We had a couple of minor maintenance issues that were quickly fixed. Would love to come back. Car is recommended as the house is a few mins out of town.

Great place, perfect location, espectacular view!

Absolutely fantastic stay with breathtaking views! Alex was more than helpful and fantastic as was Troy who was assisting with check-in. While driving to Sámara on our first trip to CR, there was an unprecedented storm and the main roads into the town were blocked by fallen trees and power lines. Our hosts helped us stay calm and while it could not be helped, we had to turn around and stay at a hotel for the night. The next day, communication was very clear on timing and routes we could take. Roy met us on the road to the house and helped us check in. We loved sitting in the comfy chairs and enjoyed the view and listening to the howler monkeys and tons of beautiful birds. The house was very clean, surprisingly not a lot of bugs even though it was open living in CR. Well stocked kitchen. Comfy beds. Convenient location. Like nearly every location in CR, recommend a four-wheel drive. Highly recommend this rental!

The stay was great. A beautiful view with a small refreshing pool. The rest of the grounds and house are also super nice. The kitchen was very well equipped. There was a washing machine and dishwasher and everything else you need in the kitchen. In the rooms there was air conditioning which was helpful in the heat. The monkeys were a bit noisy at night (if you are a light sleeper just use oropax) but for that you have seen them climbing in the trees right outside the front door which was a great experience. Would book the place again instantly
