Really amazing place to stay, the host was very proactive and helpful. The design of the house its self was really something special.

This is not just a place to stay it’s an entire adventure. Everywhere you turn there is something unique that makes you say wow. We booked two nights and enjoyed all RVR had to offer including the amazing river, indoor spa, relaxing open space with wildlife sounds, unique art collection and chef style kitchen. The hosts went out of their way to ensure all our questions were answered and that we had what we needed. This is absolutely a place you should book when visiting Costa Rica. It’s also super close to the cloud bridge forest which is so amazing.

Amazing property, unique and perfectly functional. You absolutely MUST come see this place! The hot tub is awesome, and the comfort is great! For 4 people, it's big enough, and everything is designed to make you feel comfortable there! Thank you Robert

Our stay was brief but well worth it for the experience. My kids loved the treehouse feel, and the rushing river was like a lullaby. I just wish the water level was higher so we could have enjoyed the natural river pool.

Absolutely wonderful. An incredibly unique home. I would highly recommend unless you have issues with stairs. My personal favorite was the viewing area above the Rio.

Wow!!! We didn’t want to leave this magical place! Made our first 2 nights in Costa Rica super special and memorable. The place deserves more than 5 stars! We couldn’t stop calling family and friends to show them this Gem! Highly recommend.

What can we say but WOW! If you are considering booking this place, do not hesitate! Truly a once in a lifetime experience here; the craftsmanship and artistry are beyond beautiful. We had an amazing stay at Robert’s incredible, unique home. Completely private, quiet and comfortable but close to small towns and beautiful hikes. Robert and Luba were two of the best hosts we ever stayed with. He met us with a bottle of wine, left us delicious spaghetti for our first night and checked in occasionally to see if we needed anything. We ordered the breakfast and fruit basket which made it easy to enjoy mornings at the house and my wife scheduled what she said was the best massage she’s ever had overlooking the river on our last morning. 100% happy with our stay.

Wow, just Wow!!! Robert’s house was truly the most unique home that we’ve stayed in! We only spent 1 night but if we are ever back in the area we would book for many more days. The property and house are amazing. I kept FaceTiming family and friends at home to give them a tour as words really do not describe how special this home is. The river deck and private swimming hole was incredible. The kitchen was complete with everything you would need. On top of that, they also had home cooked meals available to buy if you didn’t feel like cooking or going out to eat. The bed, linens were super comfortable with a beautiful breeze coming in from the river. The hot tub in the home was so like the cherry on top! Thank you Robert for opening your home for others to experience and enjoy. Robert and Luba go the extra mile to make it memorable. We’ll never forget it!

We absolutely loved our night at Roca Verde Retreat! Super unique place to stay, beautiful design and property. The gazebo over the river was so wonderful, the indoor jacuzzi my kids absolutely loved, and lots of attention to details! Big kitchen, we didn’t really utilize since we only stayed a night but would be really great for home meals and grill. Highly recommend! Very cool more rural area, super quiet, and peaceful and felt very safe. Loved walking around the neighborhood and the hanging bridge.

Our stay at RVR was nothing less than magical. The place was from a fairy tale, that can only be lived out in 2 places ... your dreams or at Rocka Verde Retreat!! Robert, Yorleny, Luba and our driver, Carlos, made our dreams a reality. We were checked in on to make sure we were ok, comfortable, needed or wanted anything ...That is just unheard of. Renters usually care about getting their money and move on. Not this amazing team! They made sure we were happy, comfy, fed, appreciated and cared for. This was my first international travel experience and they made it so pleasant! Carlos was at the airport, on time, kept in constant contact and explained so much on the ride to the retreat. He helped make this trip so fun, along with FABULOUS suggestions by Robert and Luba. They all made sure to not only suggest places, but to send a Maps pin as well. Carlos was also very helpful since he spoke English and Spanish! Yorleny gave a massage that was UNREAL! You cannot go wrong coming here!!!❤

From the moment we arrived, we felt surrounded by peace, nature, and incredible hospitality. The property is stunning — lush gardens, mountain/jungle/river views, and a sense of privacy that makes it feel like your own little paradise. The unique house was spotless and beautifully designed with natural touches that fit perfectly with the surroundings. The house is also well stocked to meet all your needs. The hosts were wonderful — friendly, very responsive, and full of great local recommendations for waterfalls, beaches and places to eat. The host is also a chef, who left some frozen homemade dishes for us, which were delicous and appreciated after a long day of travel. The hot tub, natural pool and river gazebo were perfect for relaxing and taking in the surroundings. We left feeling completely recharged and already dreaming about coming back. Rocka Verde Retreat is pure magic. If you’re looking for the perfect blend of romance, adventure, and pura vida energy, this is it!

Absolutely my favorite Airbnb that I had visited while in Costa Rica. The hosts were very friendly and quickly responded to any questions we had. I would love to visit again very soon! Highly recommend to anyone that’s interested in an Airbnb that has everything they need.

Extraordinary and atypical accommodation, our teenagers loved it! For young children, some corners of the apartment are a little dangerous, however...

Robert was an amazing host who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. We had issues with the hot tub, and he was always available to troubleshoot and assist us. He even brought us a massive homemade meal one day when he feared we were unable to get around, since we had not rented a car! He is a brilliant and thoughtful artist who has his beautiful art displayed throughout the cave. If you are looking for peaceful, relaxing ambiance where you can unplug and connect with nature, this is the place to go! (Tip- rent a car. It is fairly far from modern amenities and trips, but there are local places within walking distance that are all safe and well-stocked.)

We made a 7hr drive just to stay for two nights and this amazing one of a kind house, would highly recommend to anyone visiting Costa Rica. The house couldn't be more private, with a stunning seating area above the rapidly flowing river, which its self was lovely to cool off in on a hot day. For the house the pictures don't it justice, waking up in the morning and looking out huge window watching the wildlife. Boys loved the hot tub. Local good restaurant short walk away, a little steep hill on the way but all down on way back. Such a memorable short stay in the cave house.

The mountain views? Unreal. Every time we looked out, it felt like a postcard come to life. Now let’s talk about the river & jacuzzi—aka the 8th Wonder of the World (not even exaggerating). Whether we were sipping coffee in the morning mist or stargazing from the gazebo at night, it was pure peace and luxury. The river running behind the property added this constant, calming soundtrack to everything. Birds chirping, trees swaying, water flowing… it was like Mother Nature herself curated the vibes. If you’re looking for a place to disconnect, recharge, and experience the magic of Costa Rica—this is it. 10/10 would recommend.

I can honestly say this place was like no other!!We were passing through and needed a last minute single night stay. Robert was quick to respond and was a spectacular host! I had no idea we had signed up for. This place will forever be a wonderful memory of ours. We have stayed in countless luxury Airbnb’s but few will be a memory such as this one. The sound of the flowing water right out the back doors in the middle of the jungle with the sound of nature = priceless. Property was clean and had everything we needed. We had traveled all day and didn’t really feel like doing our grocery shopping that late in the evening. The host offers a food option where they prepare and bring it to you. We have been in Costa Rica for a week, and this was the best meal we have had so far! The food was absolutely perfect. This place has been a highlight of our trip. A truly magical experience surrounded by nature. This home is one-of-a-kind, built around massive boulders with artistic touches everywhere. Everything is designed for comfort, from the living room jacuzzi to the private river for cooling off. The kitchen is a dream, and the whole property feels like a private jungle retreat. Robert was a fantastic host, super friendly and attentive. We would absolutely come back!

The best of the world

By far the coolest house we’ve stayed in! We loved all the cool rocks, both inside the home and down by the roaring river. The coffee machine was a great plus and the shower was amazing! We walked to Nando’s pizza restaurant and had a very yummy dinner. Robert and his wife were very friendly and provided lots of recommendations.

We had an amazing stay at this amazing Rock house!! Unlike anything you’ve seen before. The hot tub was a welcome relaxing experience when we arrived and the temps had dipped down a bit. Can’t wait to stay again, and we’ll absolutely recommend to friends!!

Gorgeous house very unique. The landscape is awesome with the private river in the back that we frolicked in. Indoor hot tub was a nice touch. Espresso machine was fun to use. Enjoyed cooking in the large kitchen and used the grill as well. The shower was beautiful. Oh yeah the karaoke machine was super fun too! We enjoyed the nightly cool temperatures and sleeping with windows open to hear the sound of the river. WiFi wasn’t the best. Funny and friendly hosts.

This place is truly UNREAL!!! Exactly as the pictures look! Hearing the river & birds chirping in the mornings is magical. This is a must see if you’re looking for a true jungle experience & private retreat. I have 0 complaints!! Robert is a great host - responsive and always checking in to make sure things are all good. 1000/10!!

This place a Dream come true, we came to this beautiful house for our honeymoon. We really didn’t know what to expect, but it definitely exceeded our expectations. It was truly amazing. My wife and I had some beautiful bonding moments, very peaceful place with the sounds of the river flowing was just the icing on the cake. Robert the was very communicative and helpful, every time we needed something he was quick to answer. He was very friendly, I felt like a was talking to a friend that I’ve know for a long time. He mad us some juicy yummy steaks our first night of arrival. To sum it up, we are definitely coming back.

The home is so unique and the surroundings are unspeakably beautiful. It was also very clean and prepared well. The neighborhood is very nice but just know the road up is somewhat rocky and unpaved. Not a problem to traverse but just good to be aware. Note, the hot tub takes a long time to heat so plan accordingly. Great experience and would love to go back! Wish we had more time to stay!

Roca Verde was exactly as described and then some, my family and I found it to be quite different in all of the perfect ways. The spiral staircases, the waterfall shower, and the seating area over the river were just a few of the amazing features this home has to offer. So much imagination and vision went into creating this house, down to every detail. We truly enjoyed our time here.

Beautiful property with river flowing through. I wish I could give 10 stars before we even got there for all the communication and information the host gave us. It was above and beyond any we have received and we have stayed at a lot of airbnbs. We arrived at midnight due to flight delays and accessing the property was easy and the directions getting there were accurate. Robert was very flexible as we had dinner planned for the night we arrived but he changed it to lunch before we left. We received massages on the bridge over the river which were great. The food was amazing and the house is beautiful.

We did enjoy the stay a lot. The kitchen was perfectly and fully equiped. And the atmosphere there is really special.

The location is stunning and have never stayed anywhere quite like it! Unfortunately the mammoth outside is now missing as per the pictures, not sure where it went! Other than that an incredible place with great amenities!

The RVR house is a unique find on a large riverfront property. It hits all the “feels” in the right way from the natural surroundings (sounds of the river and nature) to the openness of the house with the personal touches. We spent 3 days in a calm and extremely comfortable atmosphere. The house is amazing and maintained for cleanliness and the hospitality is a first for us with the option of purchasing in home massages and dinner service from the chef owner.

It was a little difficult for us to find the place but once we arrived it's totally worth the place is spectacular

A place of unique architecture, which we loved, much more beautiful than in the photos, we will definitely return. Robert has settled this construction in the middle of 4 rocks with immense creativity. We really liked the rooms that allow us to admire the outside, the shower a whole chineo. Super relaxing take a rest in the kiosko on the river. The spectacular kitchen, very well designed and equipped, allowing us to enjoy the outside while preparing meals. The complimentary wine was a great addition. The hosts have been very communicative and friendly. We visited Cloudbridge in San Gerardo de Rivas, just 40 minutes from this wonderful place. Preferable to take a 4x4 cart. We look forward to returning soon.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time . The place is beautiful and much better than the photos. it was so easy to check in and out. The house was stocked better than anywhere I've been. The meal was excellent and Robert was so helpful and fun to meet. I definitely recommend this place

This place is one of the most beautifully designed airbnbs my wife and I have stayed in. The creativity and ingenuity to build this house among huge rocks was impressive to us. It has the perfect combination of luxury, commodity and connection with nature all at once. This is perfect for a weekend retreat for a couple, but also we wish we could’ve stayed longer. Robert and Luba were great hosts, very communicative and friendly, we also booked a dinner with him and he prepared a delicious tomahawk and side dishes+wine for a very fair price. Give him a try!! The house is located in Pueblo Nuevo de Rivas, about 3 1/2 hours from the capital. Surrounded by the General river and mountains. You’d feel like you’re the only one around. You can also hike around. The Chirripo area is just 40 min away. There are a few convenient restaurants 10 min away but the house is equipped, should you prefer to cook. We were lucky to see an otter, a “tolomuco” and hundreds of birds and bugs! Fully recommended

Robert's place as an incredible energy with its location on the river. The river rocks inside and outside the house are very special. He was super responsive with communication and the place is private. I highly recommend this experience for anyone wanting a peaceful and nourishing experience.

A wonderful place, it's definitely a place to visit, exceptional….

Beautiful and quaint place. Has a rare quality. First of all, the isolation is very important to us, and we felt completely alone. This is a big plus for us. The last km of the road was a bit challenging, but we had a 4x4 vehicle so there was no problem, and as far as he was concerned this is actually a plus - a place you drive to about a km on a dirt road, adjacent to the bank of a river, completely quiet, flowing water on the way, everything is alive and fresh, really being in the jungle. The house is a work of art on its own, in my opinion better than in the pictures, and it combines nature in an amazing way. And inside - a feeling of pampering, a very modern and sophisticated kitchen, creative and pampering toilet and shower, wood artwork scattered around the house, and bedrooms facing the river. Highly recommend this place.

Roberts place is a destination itself! The details and quality craftsmanship don't really come through on the photos... its even better in person! My daughter thought it was magical and spent nearly 2 days just exploring the property and having fun. If you meet Robert he is a an etremely interesting and engaging person with many talents. It was a pleasure to stay at this wonderful place!

Hands down the most fun and unique Airbnb we’ve ever stayed at. Robert and his wife were great hosts and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable including a home cooked meal. My wife and I both had 1 hour massages on the deck over the river and it was amazing. Our masseuse even gave our youngest daughter a 1/2 hour rub down which she describes as one of the top things she experienced Costa Rica (grouped with zip-lining and surfing!) I found this place on Airbnb and reserved it for the last couple of days of my family’s trip. I booked it and told them almost nothing about it except that it would be a surprise. Well it certainly was! It’s really an experience unto itself, living among the rocks in this unique and well appointed piece of art. Thanks again for a great stay!

As I’m prone to do, I like following the Good, Bad and Ugly format for my reviews. From the moment we arrived till we departed, we really enjoyed ourselves in this eclectic artistic abode. Great kitchen, a fancy bidet and a shower that you’ll walk away wanting to replicate it. Reading by that river was more special than I anticipated. My wife and enjoyed the above river massage. FYI, we had 3 massages during our 30 day CR stay and this one, we agree, was the best. She was a substitute masseuse that Luba, our host arranged on short notice. Very responsive. This was more than vacation housing, this was an experience. For a guy that is afflicted with Wanderlust, it means something that say I would stay here again. Well worth the drive to this property. Just for information sake,(that’s why we read/write reviews), an all wheel drive or 4x4 would be suggested. Use something other than Waze for navigation at your own peril. There is no ugly here.

We absolutely LOVED this magical place! We had a yummy bag of fresh Costa Rican coffee, well stocked kitchen, and anything our hearts desired! Robert and his wife were always available, helpful and communicative! The home was very clean and stocked. My sister in law had some personal monthly needs and they were immediately helpful and giving, providing all that was needed in her emergency situation! You guys literally were amazing in all and every way…thank you from all of us!! This cave home on rocks was literally dreamy and special. My husband and I loved starting each day on the balcony over the river. This was a magical and most beautiful place! Thank you!!!

Unique stay in a beautiful environment.

This home is truly one of a kind. It was designed, built, and decorated in an incomparable way. Upon arrival, you're transported to wherever you want to be. The views are stunning, the home immaculate, it's really hard to describe other than "you would love it!" The home will be featured on an upcoming episode of "House Hunters International" and my crew would have stayed there all week if we could. On top of everything, Robert & Luba are incredible hosts. Responsive, helpful, and kind - experiences like this are why Airbnb exists! We loved it, you will too.

Loved this place so very much!!! Definitely a uniqueness that I’ve never experienced. Great kitchen setup and wonderful laundry too. Robert was great and massage was wonderful too. Sitting out by the river is dreamy. If you are in this area, you should stay here. So wonderful and relaxing. Also, their communication made arrival very easy to find.

This home is truly one of a kind, making for a wonderful, memorable vacation. We stayed here for 3 days as a getaway from the heat of the pacific coast to celebrate our daughters birthday. The kitchen was well equipped to bake her birthday cake and to make many family meals. You can tell he’s put his heart and creative soul into details throughout the house, which brought us many smiles. Robert is so friendly and fun to connect with. We loved his art that he’s personally crafted and hangs throughout the house. I enjoyed walking out to the river each morning to wake up to the warm sun on my face and the cold water at my feet. We would highly recommend his home.

A beautiful place to relax and be in touch with nature

The place is absolutely stunning. the house is so special, feels like a hobbit movie house exceeding the expectations, shower has a waterfall with beautiful outside view , jacuzzi in the living room between the stone is so welcoming with hot water.outside surrounding it’s just nature with the river crossing making the ambiance so peaceful. Also we had a massage on top of the river can’t express in word the beautiful feeling and the amazing massage combine with the sound of the river and birds . The best . worth it

What we amazing place! so grateful to spend time with my son in such a unique setting. we loved the hot tub and hanging out by the river. everything we needed was in the house. including laundry which is hard to find in cr. the lights around the house were extraordinary by themselves. so many interesting details and artwork. i had a great massage from lubo in the house...who is so kind and talented. robert"s spaguetti was.better than anything you can buy in a restaurant. they are both such special people. an unforgettable experience...thank you both for hosting me. ill be back if/when the calender opens up again!

What a cool property! The gazebo over the creek was an amazing place to eat breakfast. The house gave us ample opportunity to sit and observe nature from unique vantage points. The shower overlooks a wooded area that was full of butterflies and hummingbirds. The kitchen overlooks the same area- but the outside lights attracts different animals at night. This place is a nature lovers dream!

This place is nothing short of incredible, offering a unique and beautiful experience that feels like living within an art piece. The river view is stunning, the kitchen is fantastic, and our host was excellent. However, I recommend confirming the location beforehand, as the pin on Maps was inaccurately placed.

We loved staying at Robert’s increíble Boulder home. What a unique experience! We were amazed walking into it and thoroughly enjoyed relaxing there. The sound of the rushing river quickly put us to sleep. We slept so well. It’s remarkable to see how a house was built around four massive boulders and it felt like those rocks were honored in keeping them right where they belonged. It was an adventure getting there and felt like one while staying there. Highly recommend. And the jacuzzi inside the home was the icing on the cake. If you can, you must stay here! River patio seating is the place to unwind & soak up the sounds, you must take advantage of the massage offer on the river. Close to a waterfall hike and town you won't be missing out on plenty of adventure near by. Definitely worth the drive! This creativity is captivating leaving an unforgettable experience! Stunning and safe place; every detail of the house is unique. River & Mountain as part of the garden is somewhat imposing. Robert super helpful at all times, he offered to leave the jacuzzi on for arrival, he has a notebook with his history, look for it. I hope to be back soon, 100% recommended.
