4BR Villa in Cancún

Renzo

Not good, 1 year ago

We booked this place for our family (2 adults and a 2-year-old) for three nights but left after one. We expected a luxurious, comfortable retreat in nature, but it fell short. The house’s odd design—mostly open floors with no windows or doors except in the bedrooms—offers no escape from insects. There’s little to do besides swim in the Cenote, and the rough road makes driving to Tulum for entertainment unappealing. The main bedroom’s weak fan couldn’t handle the heat, making sleep tough. We also experienced a power outage so we lose internet for about an hour. It summary, the place is geared toward retreats and spiritual activities, not families. I would not recommend this place to anyone without interest in these types of activities. On the positive side, Oscar, the chef, was the highlight of our stay! He cooks delicious meals and is great at making cocktails too.

Host Response

Thank you for your feedback Renzo, and again I’m truly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. While we do our best to clearly describe the unique, open-air design of the home—which is intentionally crafted to connect guests with the surrounding nature—we understand this might not be ideal for everyone, especially families with young children or those seeking a more traditional, resort-style environment. We appreciate you mentioning the power outage and heat concerns. While we have fans and ventilation throughout the space, we recognize that the tropical climate can be intense, and we’re actively exploring ways to make the experience more comfortable. The brief loss of internet due to the local power grid is something we unfortunately can’t always control, but we’re working on backup solutions to minimize any disruptions. As you noted, the retreat is best suited for guests looking for a peaceful, nature-immersive experience, often centered around wellness and simplicity. For more activity-heavy stays or those who plan to travel frequently into Tulum, the rustic road can be a factor, and we always advise guests ahead of time so they can plan accordingly. We’re so glad to hear that Oscar made a positive impact on your experience! He truly is a gem, and we’ll pass along your kind words to him. Thank you again for staying with us and for sharing your thoughts. We always strive to improve and take all feedback seriously.

Naum is a magical place, one of the most magical stays I've had. Admittedly, it's a challenge to get to—20-30 minutes of driving down a very muddy and bumpy track (4-wheel drive will help). However, this remoteness is key to Naum's magic. The area, while near Tulum, is totally isolated from the chaos that overwhelms the city and beachfront. Instead, you are surrounded by a community of highly intentional service providers and healers who are ready to guide you through depts of group connection and personal introspection.

Host Response

Hi Joseph!! Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. We're glad you found Naum to be a special and memorable place. While the road in can be a bit rough, we agree that the quiet and seclusion it offers are part of what makes the experience so unique—far from the noise and crowds of Tulum. We're also happy to hear that you connected with the team on-site; we take pride in creating a space where guests can truly unwind and feel well taken care of. We'd love to welcome you back anytime. It was a true pleasure meeting and hosting you!

Where do I even begin? The villa is nothing short of beautiful. The daily breakfast was such a cool and fun experience, and the food was delicious. I would’ve booked lunch and dinner as well if I would’ve known how good of a cook the chef was! We did our wedding here in the cenote and it was magical. Maca and Margaux were extremely helpful and made sure that every detail was perfect. Being able to do yoga, a cave concert, and a temazcal ceremony all in one location was a dream come true. It is quite the drive from Tulum, but so worth it. I would definitely plan on staying at the airbnb most of the time, you won’t want to drive to town much. We did see lots of tarantulas and scorpions in the airbnb, but they were harmless. There is also no A/C but we didn’t get hot at night because they have lots of fans. Book this place!!

Thank you so much Talese for your raving review! It was truly a pleasure to be able to host you and your family and friends and even more special to be part of your special day! It was truly magical. We are happy you enjoyed the jungle experience!! Hope to welcome you back some day :) Lots of love

Just wow. Wow. Wow. This place is truly unreal. We had the most incredible stay. Once in a lifetime kind of vacation for us. The space as a whole, the bedrooms, the cleanliness, all the design details, the private cenote!!, the jungle, the serenity, the amenities, the delicious food (Oscar is AAAAMAZING!!— definitely do lunches and dinners with him!) And so so so so much more. I cannot say enough great things about this experience and trip. We brought our 2 kids (3yo and 6yo) and had the best time ever. If you are looking for an out of the ordinary— but still luxe— Tulum vacation, this is your spot. The only 2 things I would note is that you should be prepared for about 20mins of driving on a narrow road to get out of the jungle to go anywhere and also if it’s a warmer month, bring clothes accordingly. The fans are great and you don’t need much except cool clothing (we over packed!) Thank you so very much for this memorable experience!!!

I cannot even begin to describe how truly special and perfect Naum is. My husband and I were hosting a unity celebration here with a few friends and family members, and Margaux, Maca, Oskar, and the Naum team made this just the most memorable, beautiful, intimate, peaceful, awe-inspiring event we could have ever hoped for and turned an already stunning property into something truly magical. Every detail was thought-out and catered to, and the team there are attentive, personable, warm, and caring. We miss them all already. And finally, the jungle, cenote and cave are something that is so unique and naturally inspiring that you feel truly humbled and thankful to be able to share it with loved ones in such a private and intimate way. We could not have asked for anything more and will be forever grateful to the team there and to the jungle for the memories that they have given to all of us. Eternal thanks. PS. Oskar is a chef like no other - be sure to book meals with him!!

Naum Tulum was absolutely incredible. From the moment I booked, Margaux was extremely helpful. She answered all my questions and always responded quickly, offering services such transportation, temazcal ceremony, and even a breath work and ice bath immersion. We were greeted upon arrival, instantly feeling welcomed and introduced to our wonderful hostess Maca who was available at all times during our stay. The Private Chef & Sous Chef wiped up fantastic vegan dishes for breakfast lunch and dinner and we were never without water, teas, or coffee. They were also incredibly helpful throughout our stay. We all felt so at home. The pictures on here are beautiful to see but to experience this place in person is beyond magical. It was the perfect location for the type of spiritual retreat I was hosting. I couldn’t have picked a better place! I can’t wait to book for my next retreat! Thank you so much to the entire staff. I am beyond grateful!
