2BR Home in Hacienda Iguana

Matteo

Excellent, 3 months ago

Had an amazing stay. The place is very well kept and peaceful and you can walk to nearby market, pharmacy, and iguana brewery. A bit of a longer walk to the beach so would recommend renting a moto or bicycle from the nearby market. Had a great time and will likely come back!

Glad you enjoyed your stay, Matteo! You're welcome back anytime :)

It was a great experience. The house was very clean, and everything was super organized. If you bring pets, I'm sure it's the best place for them to have a stress-free stay; the fenced-in area for them is spectacular. Ms. Grace is very nice and super clear with the instructions; we haven't received service of this quality in a long time. Hacienda Iguana is one of the best places to vacation, and with the new coastal highway, the journey from the capital is very smooth.

This is our fourth time visiting Hacienda Iguana, a place we really love. It’s a very cheerful community with many restaurants, good food, and a great family-friendly vibe. The location of the property is very convenient. The listing says it’s behind a spa, which is true, but when we arrived the lights at the house were on and we initially thought it wasn’t the right place. Some signage would definitely help future guests. I understand Haley lives with a dog inside the house, and I felt a bit of allergies the first day since I’m allergic to dogs, but I had my allergy pills with me so it wasn’t a big issue. Other than that everything was great. She even allowed us a one-hour late checkout so my wife could take an important call, which we appreciated. For the price it’s a great value, and the restaurant next door, Jasco’s, is also highly recommended. Haley always kept great communication.

Thank you so much for staying with us again and for sharing such thoughtful feedback. I’m really glad you continue to enjoy Hacienda Iguana and the community—it truly is a special place. I appreciate your note about signage, and that’s something I’ll be improving to make arrivals even smoother. The lights were intentionally left on to ensure a comfortable late arrival, but I understand how clearer signage would help avoid any confusion. I’m also sorry to hear about the allergies on the first day; while the home is pet-friendly and noted as such in the listing, I completely understand sensitivities and appreciate your understanding. I’m happy the late checkout was helpful, and thank you for the kind words about communication, value, and the nearby restaurant. It was a pleasure hosting you, and I’d be happy to welcome you back anytime.

Haley was a great host and very easy to communicate with. She was super accommodating and let us drop off our luggage early since we arrived before check-in, which was really helpful and let us go enjoy the beach right away. The house was spotless and very clean, and we felt comfortable as soon as we arrived. It’s clearly her home, so the decor feels cozy and has a good vibe. The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and the location is perfect , quiet, but still central and easy to walk to restaurants and around Iguana. We felt it was great value for the price and would definitely recommend staying here. We’d happily stay again, we had an awesome time staying at Haley’s place.

Thank you, Aiden and family! It was pleasure hosting you all! I so appreciate all of your kind words and taking the time to share them for all to see. It would be my absolute pleasure to host you all again any time. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay in my home. See you next time!

Haley's service was extraordinary in All the details! Super helpful and attentive. The house is spacious, very well decorated and comfortable! Everything is close by, so you can walk or use the golf cart (which is well worth it). Spacious beds, hot water in the bathrooms and kitchen sink. A great place to relax and catch high waves! We had the joy and pleasure of spending special moments with the family in a heavenly place! Thank you Haley for everything! It was sensational!

I recently stayed at this Airbnb and faced several issues. Despite the listing stating a six-person maximum, we were charged extra for a third guest, which wasn’t disclosed initially. Additionally, we were billed for utilities even though the yard crew, present daily, used the property’s power outlets contributing to usage. After check-out, we were wrongly accused of stealing a phone charger, which was offensive. The owner also contacted me directly via text outside the Airbnb app, which was intrusive and against policy. To top it off, there were cameras inside the casita- against policy and invasion of privacy. While the property was clean and well-located, these issues made our stay unpleasant. Prospective renters should clarify all charges upfront and beware of hidden fees.

Host Response

Oh Truc, this is classic. So easy for anyone to see through so I really don’t even need to respond, but I have a quick moment so I’ll explain some of your accusations. Truc is upset because despite his several attempts, AirBnB won’t back his false claims. AirBnB just rectified and properly billed him the correct amount and he now has to pay it. It’s just what is right and what is fair but he’s clearly not a solid person so we’re having to do all of this. I was very clear about the 10kw usage and my policy (just like many other properties here in Iguana) that if you go over the allocation, it’s billed. The only reason they probably went over is due to him sneaking a 3rd person in, that was probably using the 3rd A/C day and night. Which if guests want to heavily use the A/C and that makes them more comfortable, that is totally fine by me. I just don’t cover over the reasonable allocation. So there’s that, plus it didn’t work out trying to sneak an additional guest in, he’s bumming because I guess they weren’t really prepared budget wise to stay in a community like Iguana. His reservation booked during a promotion I was running, which was great, happy he got it. But it does explain why he’s so worried to actually cover his costs, because he wasn’t really in the right market staying in Iguana in this type of development with amenities. To be fair, his original booking inquiry indicated 2 guests, so Truc sent 2 guests IDs via AirBnB message per policy so I could register at the gate for a smooth entry into Iguana. But then a 3rd showed up and they’re bummed they got caught. I set him up with a top transportation company when he asked for help with a taxi, but that required messaging him on the side because he kept saying he needed help, so I kept helping 🤷🏼‍♀️ He was pretty clueless in a few ways but I was kind and continued to help him and his buddies, I wanted them to have a good experience on maybe their first international surf trip they probably saved up for. I figured they were on a budget so I put out soap, shampoo, conditioner, floss, toothpaste and beach towels, loaded up the house so they were comfortable. He had several strange inquiries during the stay and it’s funny, he had no problem messaging me on iMessage for several things he wanted to know about that in my opinion was above and beyond as house guests but I kept helping, but now he’s claiming it was intrusive 🤔 too funny. The cameras follow all Airbnb guidelines and are all exterior and clearly visible and disclosed in the Guest Safety portion of my Airbnb (it’s for my guests safety as much as it for anything else) so not sure what the upset is there except that AirBnB isn’t backing his lies and attempts to steal, so he had to turn to a 1 star and posting more lies. I did have reports that there was heavy use of drugs with these guests but I decided not to take it up with Airbnb, although I guess if Truc keeps throwing slander I might need to. You’re really desperately grasping too, the yard guys were cleaning too much?! That’s like saying the housekeepers did dishes and used hot water,or ran your linens and laundry or ran the vacuum and you don’t want that because you think you had to pay for it?? I don’t understand your logic, but it’s funny because you actually help my point that my community of EcoCasitas are well kept and tidy interior and exterior, the yard guys do a great job maintaining the premises. Anywhere you travel in the world, if you’re staying in a development and there’s an HOA, you can assume some of the “money” you’re paying is yes, in the long run, going towards the costs of an owner maintaining their home and Airbnb…for their guests to enjoy 😣🙄😓 you’re a lot, dude. Good luck out there. Traveling and surf trips can add up. Maybe next time get a few more buddies to split/share beds with and find a place a little more economical. My place is definitely not for everyone and it seems you guys can’t really appreciate how high end and nice it is. It wasn’t a good fit. So let’s just go our separate ways. Not worth all of the hate you’re trying to spread. Surely it’s not making you feel good about yourself, taking up this energy to come at me. Go live your life and do some good, nice things. This is not worth it, bro.
