Dean

Dean was a great host. Thanks to clear directions and an easy, self-service check-in I was able to find and access Pochote House without issue despite arriving on the last ferry, in a storm, at 1 am. Pochote House is as described except with much better landscaping and attention to detail than Dean gives himself credit for. The grounds are immaculate, lush and give the perfect tropical vibe to your stay. Inside, Dean has thought of everything. The kitchen is well appointed (though unfortunately I didn't get to use it much), filtered water provided and even a very welcome coffee maker and coffee awaited me the next morning. Internet was great, he's spared no expense on proper equipment, the TV is "smart" so you can Chromecast directly to it, in short, he's thought of everything. If you're choosing between places and want a sure bet where you just don't have to think about anything, this is your spot. Topping it all off was Dean's friendliness and hospitality. Thanks Dean!

Highlight Dean's kindness, always attentive to our needs. I help us get tours and activities. The house is very clean and equipped. Very quiet place ideal to relax at both 2 km from the center of Santa Tere. I'll definitely be back

Superb stay! Having read a previous review that stated this accommodation would not be suitable for long stays we were apprehensive about staying here, however we found it was just perfect for our 3 month stay. We have visited Costa Rica many times however this was our first stay in Mal Pais. We wanted a comfortable place we could work and relax close to nature. It was a really positive experience staying at Dean's that we cannot fault. The accommodation and the host were fab. Dean's house was such a comfortable space (super comfortable bed!), great internet and work space and good security. It had everything we needed. Dean couldn't have done anything more - he was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, always there to offer help if we needed anything. He helped us out with our motorcycle and with his local knowledge and great contacts of local people. This was by far the best air b&b experience we've had in Costa Rica - thank you Dean we will be back soon! Rich and Alicia

We stayed 11 nights for our honeymoon in Malpais and we could not have found a nicer place. Dean could not have done more to help make our stay special, he was the perfect host. We were greeted by a family of monkeys when we arrived and the beautiful sounds of the jungle. The house is even more beautiful than the pictures, it’s a short walk to the beach and we walked to Playa Carmen and up to Santa Teresa most days. It’s away from the chaos so you can sleep with the sounds of the jungle and the ocean without the madness of Santa Teresa and Carmen. It’s less than 10 minutes walk from Zunya (we didn’t have a car while we stayed here and didn’t need one). On our final night we ate at Casa Chameleon just up the hill, which was the best meal we’d had in our time here and I’d highly recommend.

Super comfortable house with a jungle garden, 2min walk from an amazing sunset and surf beach of Malpais. I had an increidble stay in Dean’s place and hopefully will return soon! Why? House. Clean, comfy, great kitchen, ac, comfy bed, nice terrace, whats not to like? I like the layout and the garden in particular. Garden. You have monkeys and iguanas as constant guests. So part of costa rica right there in 3m. Plus loads of bigger trees in the garden, gives a lush touch and some needed shade. Location. Difficult to have that better i believe, after driving around the area for 2weeks. Its a 2~5min walk across the road to an amazing beach which is quiet, swimmable and has sunset. Santa Teresa, which is quite busy and noisy in the high season is a 5min drive away. With its shops and great restaraunts. Plenty of surf beaches within the range of 5-15min drive, so enough options on all accounts! Dean, thank you for being a great host with onpoint tips and in general for the welcoming att.
