4BR Villa in Akumal

Isidro the caretaker was friendly, helpful and fun

The area is very nice, the house is very large and very nice; it meets everything described. My only observations are: to the family who lives and takes care of the house. They made a lot of noise, we heard the comments they made about us. The man had alcoholic breath every day and always talked by shouting or making a lot of noise and his treatment of us was very even. He yelled at us and scolded us for everything we asked him to do. They have some dogs that they let loose at night and they were barking and breaking the children's toys. The pool was very cold, we couldn't enjoy it, they didn't want to turn on the heating because it has an additional cost. We found 4 scorpions in the different bedrooms and we had children, although they say they are not poisonous in that area, we understand the environment and respect nature, but it was worrying. Regarding the host, Karla was very attentive and always available. Yes, we would return, but clarifying things before anything else

We stayed here for a bachelor trip and the host did an excellent job making our stay convenient and enjoyable. With a big group, the services were definitely worth it, though it might be less so for a smaller family. The location is central, giving easy access to a wide variety of activities, local sites, and amazing food spots in town. Big shoutout to Isidro for the outstanding service and for sharing all the best insider tips around town!

We rented Karla's place for my partner's 40th birthday party and it was perfect for our needs! The chef, Isrado, was so wonderful and made us some great meals and really took care of us during our stay, even got a birthday cake for the party. The house is beautiful and located on multiple cenotes which was great. The only issue we had was we did not find out that the house is not located in the main village of Akumal until a week or two before our trip. We had to rearrange some plans and get rental cars for some of our group not staying at the house as it is not within walking distance, so keep that in mind. It all ended up working out and we had a great trip, just plan accordingly! We will definitely be back in the future!

Our group of 15 had a wonderful stay at Casa Caleta! We had 8 children ages 3-12 with us, so we spent most of our time on the grounds. The pool, cenotes, and lagoon gave us plenty to explore. The housekeepers, Isidro, Israel, and Leo clearly care about the place and have managed it for over 20 years! The food was delicious and they were very accommodating. I highly recommend stocking the place with groceries and having Isidro and Isreal cook a few dinners. The breakfast service is excellent. As busy parents, we really appreciated waking up to a clean kitchen and having breakfast prepared and served on that beautiful patio. Like many other reviewers, we were under the impression at first that the house had walkable access to Half Moon Bay and Akumal town. For the protection of the lagoon and Yalku park, it does not. Transportation for a large group was expensive, but easy to arrange. We felt it was worth it to have access to such expansive, beautiful grounds. We hope to return!

This property is pure magic! I hosted a mermaid retreat here and it was perfect. The house is stunning and the property is incredibly serene and peaceful. The big cenote right behind the house was so awesome to explore each day when we got back from diving. The biggest highlight of this house is the local family that manages it on a daily basis. They are incredibly warm people who helped anytime we needed it. They cooked for us the final night and it was delicious! Felt so safe and at home here. We visited in July..I will say the mosquitos were so bad we could barely be outside even with repellent unless there was a strong breeze. Also be aware the beds are very firm! Overall I would absolutely host another retreat here and home to visit again!

Beautiful location, access to multiple cenotes and the Yalkú lagoon with amazing snorkeling with equipment provided. Isidro the groundskeeper and his family were so kind and helpful, and the host Karla was extremely responsive and helpful as well. Food was okay, but be SURE to bring plenty of cash if you get meals and groceries because we had a very hard time hunting down multiple ATMs right before leaving as cash was the only option to pay. It’s not in Akumal town, and it is expensive to get there if you don’t have a car, so prepare accordingly. Heed the note about being in the jungle, this is not a luxury experience and the home upkeep could have been better. Bring plenty of bug spray.

Where to even begin... this place is an absolute dream and the people make it even better. Karla, Isidro, and family are beyond welcoming and accommodating. Any request, they were happy and quick to fulfil. I suggest doing some meals at the house because Isidro is an amazing chef who rivals any restaurant in Mexico. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous, both inside the house and out. The lush gardens that surround the house are maintained beautifully and are a fun jungle escape in comparison to the beach. The house has everything you should need and comfortably fit 16 of us. We felt very safe and well taken care of the whole stay. I would highly recommend Casa Caleta to anybody. It is a place that I see myself returning to one day in the future.

Casa Caleta is even more beautiful in real life! The photos are accurate, the layout of the space is perfect. Everyone was comfortable and very happy. Although we initially thought it was in the main area of Akumal with beach access (which it isn't, and did not have), our guests were completely content with the amazing access to the Yalku laguna and private cenote. The directions for getting there were a little confusing, but we found it, and were even allowed to check-in a bit early, ahead of our guests. The property is VERY secluded - there is no real direct access to the beach, restaurants, bars, grocery, or shops without taxis/transportation. That is a bonus in some ways, difficult in others. Isidro and his family took excellent and attentive care of us, and their cooking was divine! The cost for groceries was significantly less than we budgeted for. Karla communicated promptly leading up to our stay, and everything went even better than hoped for! Will rent again!
